As the car moved forward, Eloise let go of the hand covering her lips. She tasted rust, and knew it was blood. She leaned back in her seat and thought, Whatever he wants to do, just let him be. Anyway, no matter how hard I struggled, it would be useless.

In the car, Ainsley called out to his guards through the mind connection, "Everyone return to Club Scarlet Heart."

When the car stopped outside the club, Ainsley didn't say anything else. He leaned over, picked up Eloise, and walked towards the club.

"Don't move. If you don't want me to repeat what I did to you in the car in front of everyone, you had better behave yourself. Don't make me angry. It won't do you any good." Ainsley sensed Eloise's struggle and stopped her with an indifferent expression.

Eloise was furious. Was Ainsley always ignoring her wishes?

However, after taking a look around, she closed her eyes. She had no right to choose.

Elijah and the others had arrived at the club. Meanwhile, Ainsley was leading Eloise to the

He was composed, polite, someone who could always be counted on. But now, he stood before Ainsley, shouting as if his entire world was crumbling. He was in agony, but there was a bitter laugh on his lips."Ainsley, that's ridiculous!" Lucian's voice cracked. "What makes you think you can ask me to do something you can't even bring yourself to do?" His gaze was filled with disbelief as he locked eyes with Ainsley. "I will never admit that I could fall for a woman like her!"Ainsley remained calm. "In that case," Ainsley said, his voice low but steady, "stay away from her. Maybe you're right, but I'll find my own way to say those things you can't."Lucian's laugh was hollow, almost maniacal as he eyed Ainsley like he was the greatest fool in the room."Ainsley, you're ridiculous," Lucian scoffed. "Didn't I tell you?" Ainsley asked, his voice casual. "There's a glass wall in the bathroom. You can't see inside from outside, but you can see outside from inside."Eloise blinked, confused. "Why didn’t I see it?" she asked without thinking.Ainsley chuckled lightly. "Why didn’t you see it?" he repeated, as if wondering the same thing. "Maybe because the window blinds are usually down. I just decided to put them up."He stepped back into the bathroom, turning off the faucet, and then held up a key card. "Are you looking for this?"Eloise’s heart skipped a beat when she saw the key card. Oh no, he knows. She suddenly understood what he meant.Ainsley's forehead was wet. Water dripped from the tips of his hair. He walked over to Eloise."Alpha Williams, I'm sorry!" An imperceptible glint flashed in Eloise's eyes. He didn’t look away, as if daring her to defy him.A small bead of sweat appeared on Eloise's forehead, but she kept her gaze steady. "I’m an employee of the Club. Ainsley noticed that Eloise was reluctant to let him in. There was hesitation in her eyes, a fear that wasn’t there before. She’s afraid of me, he thought, but the notion didn’t concern him. He decided to ignore her feelings and walked straight in, as though nothing had changed. He was used to getting what he wanted. She’d have to deal with it.“Alpha Williams, wait a moment. I’ll go get you some water,” Eloise said quickly, lowering her head and walking toward the kitchen. But before she could take a step further, Ainsley reached out and grabbed her arm, pulling her back with a force that left her breathless.“No need,” he said, his voice calm, but there was an undeniable finality in it. “Pack your things and come with me.”Eloise froze, confusion flooding her mind. What? Did I hear him right? She stared at him, her heart racing as her thoughts scrambled. "What?" she asked, her voice trembling, almost in disbelief.Ainsley’s expression didn’t change. She sat on the couch and soon couldn't resist sleep, eventually falling asleep.About an hour later, the door opened silently.Ainsley stood at the door, surprised to see that Eloise had fallen asleep on the sofa. I don’t feel well, and I have no appetite. I won’t have lunch,” Eloise said again.Ainsley knew it was an excuse. He said calmly, “You’re not feeling well? The sound surprised even her. They leaned on each other as they walked home. Eloise winced with every step.Inside, she locked the door behind them and turned to Ainsley. “Why were you there?” She asked with a frown. He looked sheepish. “From the balcony… I watched you leave for work. These revisions will double our projected profits. Mr. Jack, you should reconsider before dismissing the offer,” she said.Jack frowned, visibly disappointed. Can’t we just talk like two people,

The bedroom door creaked open. Eloise looked up from her book, startled. Ainsley stood there, his face unreadable, a folded blanket in his arms. Without a word, he stepped in, laid the blanket on the floor beside the bed, and began unrolling it with deliberate care.“What are you doing?” Eloise asked, her brow furrowing.Ainsley lay down on the makeshift bed, turning his back to her.“You're not allowed to sleep here,” she said in a cold and dispassionate voice. “Ainsley, go away!” she shouted, frustration bubbling over. However, Ainsley sat up abruptly, glaring at her. “Just send me away tomorrow! I don’t care! But don’t think you can kick me out tonight!”Eloise was taken aback. It was the first time eight-year-old Ainsley had raised his voice at her.“You want to kick me out. You're sick, and no one will take care of you. You're unreasonable!” he shouted again. She stared at him, speechless. The room fell into a tense silence, the only light coming from a dim night lamp.Suddenly,

Time passed slowly.Eloise glanced at her wristwatch again, her brows knitting in frustration. The ticking felt like it echoed louder in the room than it had any right to, like each second was dragging its feet, deliberately mocking her patience. She shifted slightly in her seat, the silence becoming more stifling by the minute. Ainsley sat across from her, completely still, his small eyes trained on her face with an eerie calmness. The shrill ring of her phone startled her.Her body tensed instinctively. She snatched the phone from the table, her thumb sliding across the screen to answer.“Are you here yet?” she asked sharply. From the other end, Eric’s voice came hurried, uneven, and heavy with movement. He was clearly in motion. “I can’t come,” he said, no greeting, just urgency. “I’ll leave Ainsley with you for now.”Eloise shot upright. “Wait a minute,” she snapped. “Leave him with me for now? Isn’t Hank there?”She heard the sigh in Eric’s throat before he spoke. “Hank isn’t fre

What a strange request! Suspicion brewed silently in the air.Mandy parted her lips to protest, but Eloise reached out, stopping her with a firm hand. “Take the others out of the conference room,” she instructed quietly, her voice calm but commanding.“But…” Mandy’s brows furrowed in deep worry. She didn’t want to leave Eloise alone.Eloise looked at her steadily, her gaze unwavering, burning with determination. “Mandy, you know how important this cooperation is to me.”It wasn’t just important to her; it was crucial to the future of the Anthony Group. But Ainsley stubbornly shook his head, water flying from his wet hair.“No,” he said firmly.“Why?” Eloise asked, frowning deeply, confused by his sudden refusal.“I don’t want to sit in the back seat, I want to sit there.” He pointed insistently at the passenger seat beside her.Eloise blinked, momentarily stunned. Eloise stood motionless for a long, long time. The steady beeping of machines was the only sound, each one a harsh reminder of how fragile life was. Finally, she moved. Slow, heavy steps carried her to Ainsley’s bedside. She reached out with a trembling hand but stopped an inch from touching him.Instead, she sank into the chair beside him, folding her hands tightly in her lap to hide how badly they shook.
