A Pack Proposal

last update Last Updated: 2023-03-18 11:04:43

Thirty minutes later, my wolf dropped its body on the floor as soon as I reach the door of my apartment, not because I got exhausted but because my blood was almost drained after getting hit by an arrow.

"Ethan, what happened?" Aiden grabs my hands and drags me inside. He was startled upon seeing the blood coming out of my left chest where the arrow was sunk into.

He began pouring his tears and whimpering while looking at me laying on the bed. Then I lifted half of my body when my brain started to feel the room spinning.

"Get me an alcohol and a cloth," I ordered him in a faint tone, ignoring his childish expression.

"What?" he asks for clarity. Perhaps he did not get the chance to hear my voice when I can't even hear it myself. So, I yelled at him to get me two things.

We don't keep any antiseptic disinfectant in the apartment so he provided me with a bottle of vodka instead. After taking a sip of the vodka, I sink my teeth into the cloth and put pressure on my gums.

Then my mouth and nose were in a race to fill my stomach and lungs with air. With the help of the cloth in my mouth, the boisterous sound of my screaming was minimized as I pull the arrow out of my chest.

The second the arrow was removed, I grab the vodka and poured the remaining amount of alcohol into the open wound to minimize the unbearable pain. I tried not to scream but my voice still penetrates the ceiling.

Good thing the circle-shaped silver pendant of my necklace saved my ass from the arrow as it first hit it instead of my chest.

However, it reminded me that there is no reason for me to wear it anymore since it was Lilith who gifted me the necklace while we were still mates.

"Stop crying, Aiden," I uttered before I drop my body back on the bed to position myself properly to maximize the healing process. "grow up. Your tears cannot stop me from dying."

"I'm so sorry, Brother Ethan." his voice cracked, but I heard it loud and clear. "I don't want us to argue anymore. Can you still forgive me?" he asked.

While staring at the ceiling, the tip of my lips could not stop from beaming. Who could have thought Aiden will come to the realization when I have to be on the verge of death? Such a kid.

Not that I don't like it considering he just turned eighteen yet he still think and acts like an eight-year-old kid, but I love him to remain like a kid so that he will not think and feel the burden my shoulders are carrying.

That also makes me think if he acts like that in front of Penelope, his first love. Cute.

The next morning, Aiden and I went out of the apartment together. His point of direction is to the school while my wolf is heading to the forest where I left the bike.

"Are you sure we gonna have to do this?" Aiden asked me halfway through to the bus station. We were supposed to use the bike heading to school but I left it in the middle of the woods.

And the worst part is that I miss telling him about it during our heart-to-heart talk last night. I don't want him to worry about how much I took from my savings to buy it if given the chance those werewolf hunters took the bike.

"I already told you everything you need to know last night, Aiden. We are doing this for Penelope." I said back. The two of us then waved to Conrad the second we noticed him approaching. "I need you to think like a man if you want to pursue her."

"Do you think she likes me too?" Aiden's mood suddenly changed. He thinks of it positively even if he hadn't confessed his feelings for her.

"Who likes you too?" Conrad eagerly asks Aiden. "Me? I like you too, dude, but only as a brother. Don't worry, no matter who and what your identity is, I will forever be your brother."

Aiden slapped Conrad's shoulder before he grabs his backpack and drop it to the ground to tease him. Then they rushed to the bus.

"See you at the school, Aiden!" I glued my feet on the ground and let Conrad fill my brotherly figure to Aiden. Then I waved at them before I disappeared from the bus station.

When I got back to the woods, my anxiety started to burst when the bike was no longer parked in the same spot where I left it last night. I am pretty sure it was the right spot when my eyes could see wheel marks on the ground.

I can even confirm my shoe marks. But that is not the point. It's the bike but it is nowhere to be found. And I was supposed to use the bike heading to school.

In the end, I found my wolf sitting on the bus. As soon as I hop off the bus, my wolf flashes to the back entrance where I last used to get in.

"What the heck?" could not help but utter profanity after seeing the broken fence was already fixed. And it was the way I could break into the school unnoticed.

"I'm not gonna do that if I were you." a familiar voice suddenly echoed in my ear before I could reach out to the barbed wire.

He touches the barbed wire himself which resulted in me moving my hands away. He shivered for a few seconds. "It's electrocuted," he added.

It is not the electrocuted fence that confused and intrigued me the most but the man standing beside me. About how he found me twice in a row.

"Don't worry, Ethan, I am not here to hurt you," he said.

"Yeah, I guess so. Stalking someone won't hurt me." I said back.

"Stalking, yes," he confessed before he glowed his eyes. To my surprise, he is not just an ordinary wolf like me but the color of his eyes tells me I am talking to an alpha.

My wolf knew a few pack alphas in New Orleans but I haven't met this one in front of me. I don't even think he is from New Orleans.

"That is because I know you and your little brother were disbanded and disowned by the owner of this school. Is this why you are trying to break in?" his confession even convinced me he is a total psycho.

He did not just know where to show up every time I get into trouble, but he even knows my terrible past. But I guess he is still unaware of the reason I have to break into the school.

"Let me formally introduce to you, Ethan," he added and stretches out his hand toward me. "My complete name is Romulo St. James, alpha of the Night Walker pack. I am here to convince you to become part of my pack."

"Excuse me?" I blurted.

"You and your brother are lone wolves, Ethan." he insisted. "you need a pack who will appreciate your loyalty, sincerity, and most importantly, your abilities as a wolf."

  • Mated to my Brother's First Love   The Curse of the Witches

"This changes everything, Ethan," he murmured softly. "We might stand a chance against the witches if we unite our forces." Despite that my wolf still hadn't gotten the picture of his plan, I nodded in agreement, feeling a newfound sense of hope coursing through my veins. "Then we must get this done, Hunter," Aiden replied on my behalf. "The entire city has been hunted by the witches. It was them who are behind this madness." "Count me in," Conrad seconded, "Even if I don't have anything about magic spells or my wolf being the weakest in this group, I will help you with all I could have." "By the way, who are you people?" I could not help but ask those two werewolves Hunter Grey brought with him. They barely open their mouths as soon as they appeared in the bunker. And if I am not mistaken, they are not Hunter's friends or part of his pack. However, my instinct tells me that they were twins or siblings when they did not just have the same physical appearance b

  • Mated to my Brother's First Love   Saving Penelope Part 3

"Okay, I think we plan B?" Conrad asked, his voice strained with worries, especially when Penelope's wolf started getting wild. "Ethan? Aiden? Plan B?" Penelope was now in her full werewolf transformation. And just like the first time that I met her in my dream, even my werewolf eyes could barely recognize her anymore. She was as though everything changed in just a blink of an eye from the once loving and caring Penelope, who turned into a wild murderer werewolf. And it was proven when she just jumped on top of me and began attacking me with her sharp and elongated claws and fangs. Aiden and Conrad were both stunned and dumbfounded by how strong Penelope's wolf really is. They were simply standing on their spots with their eyes wide open while Penelope was trying to bite and rip me apart. But I did not let her do what she really wants to happen. So, I put enough strength into my fist and punched her straight in the face. Aiden and Conrad's jaws dropped to the g

  • Mated to my Brother's First Love   Saving Penelope Part 2

"Who said I am leaving her here?" I asked. "I brought her here so we could save Penelope from the witches. But first, we have to make sure she cannot escape or do something to us." Conrad, without asking further questions, wandered the entire house to look for anything we could use to hold Penelope. Aiden kept on talking to her, begging her to wake up. My wolf, on the other hand, kept my sharp eyes monitoring outside the house. I had to make sure no werewolves managed to follow me, especially since the house we are in has no fences around. Anyone can barge in at any time. Needless to say, our scents are everywhere. Newly bitten or shifted werewolves have more heightened senses compared to us. "Are you sure, Brother Ethan?" Aiden's face started to brighten. "Please, we need to help her. She must remember us as soon as possible." I nodded to Aiden without looking at him. Based on my quick observation, Penelope's condition after getting hit by lightning and thunde

  • Mated to my Brother's First Love   Saving Penelope

"Penelope?" Conrad and Aiden breathed out her name in disbelief. "Is that really you, Penelope? What are you doing? Why are you with them?" Aiden asked, his voice laced with concern. "Isn't it obvious?" Penelope extended her response with a smile on her face. "I am here to be with you and Ethan, Aiden. And I missed you both so much. Get out of there, Aiden. Come. You can hug me." Despite Penelope's sweet and convincing words, my heightened wolf could barely sense and feel any emotions from her eyes. She managed to spill those words but I didn't sense any sincerity from her voice. Sad to say, Aiden was blinded by it. He begged me to remove the protective barrier so he can hug Penelope. I cannot blame him to fell for her words. My little brother was still in love with Penelope even if he already knew that she no longer belongs to him. Penelope loves me. That is why she accepted my wolf to be her mate. "Please, Brother Ethan," Aiden continued. His tears began pour

  • Mated to my Brother's First Love   Longing for Her Voice

"How I wish you won't regret losing us again, Alpha Romulo," I replied, my voice strained with utter regret and dismay. "If we were the monsters you think we are, isn't it ironic that we are still locked up in this hell of a place?" Alpha Romulo's expression remained impassive, save for a flicker of curiosity in his eyes. Perhaps he was intrigued by my sudden shift in tone, my sincerity flowing through each word. After a lingering pause, he nodded to his betas, signaling their departure. They evacuated the place, leaving us alone once again, a sense of resignation settled upon us. We were trapped with no way to escape the inevitable. The hours ticked by. And the weight of our impending doom hanging heavily in the air. "You could have done something, Ethan," Conrad highly suggested it. "The Ethan that I know would do something, everything, in his power to make things right. But you didn't. And I started to doubt if you are the real one." "We are the real ones, Conr

  • Mated to my Brother's First Love   Not Letting it Slide

All the information Conrad and Alpha Romulo brought to us was news to me to the point that I no longer knows what to do. Using magic was no longer an option for me. If I am gonna use magic, then what? Aiden and I will be running for our lives again? Where? To the outside world where we could only see burned trees, abandoned buildings, shoved grounds, and empty streets? To start a new life? There is no life outside anymore. We see it with our own eyes. Everyone was already occupying this underground world in order to survive. The three werewolf packs, despite their differences, managed to survive for two consecutive years. It only means there is no hope outside. While holding onto those awful thoughts, I could not help but drop my butt to the ground with my arms wrapping around my knees and my eyes closed. The holding cell was dimly lit, with the only source of light coming from a small window, casting shadows across the cold, stone walls. Aiden and Conrad lay on
