CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN

TAYLOR'S POV

I didn't sleep. I tried to but I didn't. I underestimated the power of guilt. What I had said to him was unfair. I made him look like he was some sex-crazed maniac constantly coming after me even though I knew the mate bond was messing with him. Yes, he is a bastard and I want to make him pay but I can't go around accusing him of what he didn't do. I'm not reducing myself to his level.

I rolled over on the bed, the shut eye still not coming. I had felt so bad last night that I couldn't sleep until I apologized. The perks of being a well trained kid.

I huffed, throwing her pillow at the door in displeasure. My cellphone beeped almost immediately, breaking into my moody silence. I sluggishly glanced at the notification. It was a text from Daisy. My eyes lithe up like Christmas lights. I sprang from bed and rushed the cell. I read the message out loud.

“Hey bitch. I'm out of the hospital. Can't believe you haven't come to see me. I guess you are bus

TAYLOR’S POV“Right this way.” She said, leading us into a house far away from the entrance and the tents they had pitched for the sick. “You will all be safe in here. Even the sorcerer’s magic cannot sense you here.” She assured us. The house was a very old establishment but it was clean and tidy like someone had been putting in the effort to ensure that tan empty house like this was still inhabitable. There obviously had to be a good reason why. “The rooms here should be enough for all of you. Are the soldiers staying too?” she inquired, trying to lift a table so we could pass. Zulu hurried to her, taking it from her.“I need you soldiers to be our eyes and ears on the street. So I’m afraid you guys can’t wait here.”“No problem My king. We know our mission. We never intended to sheath our swords and lay them down. My king we will return with news at that same hour as your friend. Till then.” They bowed and left. Only Zephyr, Zulu, I and Resha were left in the house. Zephyr pic

TAYLOR’S POVI let go, staggering back. My eyes laced with shock. I… I actually killed him, with my bare hands. I couldn’t leave him here, out in the open. I grabbed him and rolled him into that bushes, covering his up. I picked up the clothes on the floor, folded them all up pretty well and hurried on towards the others. The close I got the stronger their scent became. I was running and perhaps that’s why they hid. They had heard my footsteps. I can closer and closer to our hideout then, when I felt I was near enough, I attempted to call out their names. But the instant my lips parted, someone grabbed me from behind. My heart sank immediately. I struggled, clawing at his arms, screaming Zephyr’s name in my head. The Lycan groaned and instantly I knew who it was. Its been a long time since I had crossed paths with him but somehow I managed to remember. I stopped struggling immediately. He let me go. I spun around. He was nursing his injured arm. I kicked him too.“Aww.” His voice

TAYLOR’S POVI was certain that it was time for me to finally show them all what happened to me when I blacked out. We were all waiting, out hearts beating fast, perspiration on everyone’s brow while they watched the figure emerge from behind the giant rock but the instant we saw what it was we had been waiting for, everyone eased immediately, letting out long exhales. The wolf bowed. It was Eden, the shadow. Oscala did say he had sent him ahead so we weren’t all that surprised that he was the one who had caused the event that made the air dense with the scent of blood.“I waited for all of you but you were slow. I got bored so I took out my boredom on the enemy hiding away in a path that I don’t think any of you know exists. Come with me.” He said. We followed him into the bushes and a little further till we were nearing what seemed to be hole in that ground which lead into a underground compartment.“I don’t know where it will take you to but I have a good feeling it will send y

ZEPHYR’S POVWe buried the wolf under a giant oak tree, beautiful and peaceful. Then we sat at another corner of the tree to map up our next move. Oscala too the duty of waking Taylor. For that he would need to lay her somewhere . Zulu and I put heads tog and in the end, Taylor was lain on the leaves we had gathered to create a makeshift. We gave them a little distance while we drew up a map on the dirt floor. “This is the path from the bridge pas to the Lycan kingdom. I doubt that foolish sorcerer would be expecting us to take the forbidden road however we still have to be prepared incase his people are there.” I plotted, drawing out that line indicating the route.“Once we get there, we will fly under the radar and make it to this house. A certain ally of mine lives here. She is the one person I am certain will not betray me no matter what.”Zulu adds, showing me the direction to follow. “We will need to steal some clothes here. It’s a shelter I made for Lycans who can nearly g

ZEPHYR’S POV“She was hurt, almost but she healed. Very well. I’m shocked how she can heal so well with such a wound.” Oscala said.“Me too.”“We can discuss that later. We need to keep moving. We have no idea of our enemies are still coming.”I nodded, carrying Taylor in my arms again. We made our way towards that pack, in silence, at first but soon we stared to talk. “How long has it been since you last visited that place? That pack?” Zulu asked.“It’s been a while. I don’t think I went through it on the day I left the Lycan kingdom. But I’m sure it still safe. Believe me, I did a good job cleaning up things there. Speaking of getting rid of problems, Oscala why do I feel like you have a good idea of why we were attacked.”He was not responsive at first but eventually he opened up his mouth. “Taylor and you, are the strongest pack there is. Other packs are afraid, worried and are feeling threatened about your existence. I am not surprised that they came after you guys. The rogues
