“In a land of myth and in the time of magic the destiny of a great kingdom rests on the shoulders of a young woman and her name is Caroline…” Yh that's me, I had memorized the words from my favorite movie of all time Merlin, though it was really old it still made me feel the same weight Merlin had upon himself.

Being the future Queen of the creatures of the night that is the Werewolves, Vampires, and Witches I had so many responsibilities. I had urged my dad to get another baby, perhaps adopt a male child, who would be stronger than I could ever be to take up the task of the future King, but it was to no avail. I know they did try their best too but I hoped some luck could shine on us.

That being said, my dad was so protective of me since childbirth, even though I was strong enough to fight for myself but as he always said “You aren't ready yet princess.” in his baritone voice. He had locked me up in the palace all my life, I had no friends to talk to except the maids who attended to me and my pet white fluffy puppy. Dad got me here at my 16th birthday party. He said that’s humans' favorite pet and got me one since humans weren't scared of it.

Yeah, Dad being the great king had visited the whole world like the whole world from different countries to different packs and vampire lands and witches' territory. Most times to settle disputes other times for war other times for vacations while I was still Locked up in his high-end wall palace. Mom had died a few years after I was born, I didn't know much about her but from the pictures of her in the hallway, she looked much like me. We had the same blonde hair, blue eyes, and white pale skin. She was the perfect definition of beauty.

I didn't know what the outside world was like so I got one of my maids to help me get books to know what was happening. She had brought me human books which were typically boring but I fell so hard in love with their romance novels. So I just asked you to bring only romance books and forget the rest. I didn't know much about love since I hadn't seen a boy to talk with except my dad's Beta. Beta Ryu has lived for quite a long time but he still looks young and breathtaking.

I tried having some conversation with him one time but he was boring and always kept a serious face which I hated, so I just stopped bothering him.

“My princess, are you ready?” A maid from outside called out To me, bringing me back to reality. I had forgotten today was the full moon when we all in the palace came out for a memorial service for my late mom. Crazy things happen during the full moon but it's always fun to watch.

“I’ll be out in five minutes!” I replied, hurriedly sitting in front of my vanity mirror, I applied a quick makeup and wore my traditional blue lace beige flower dress. I wasn't a fan of traditional clothing though but Dad made me wear them saying the modern clothes are too exposing. Dad kept everything traditional he had lived For quite a long time so I wouldn’t blame him.

I took a good look at myself in the mirror, being impressed with my looks I headed out of the room.

“Greetings Her Royal Highness.” the maid said as she saw me bowing her head down.

I nodded at her “Let’s go.”

She led the way while I followed behind her as she headed towards the courtyard where other wolves of different hierarchies living in the Palace had assembled.

“Princess Caroline knight of the Night creatures!” shouted a short old man in traditional old clothes, announcing my presence as everyone stood up to greet me.

It was tradition to pay respect to the royal family's bloodline despite their age.

I walked towards my father's throne to greet him. The maid who was with me had slipped out behind the door.

“Greetings King Herod of the Night creatures, may your reign be long.” I greeted my father, facing my head down as I waited for his response.

“Oh, my precious daughter, come over here Caroline,” he said, beaming with smiles. He was a great father and I loved him so much.

I walked over to him, taking my seat, which was on his left-hand side. The right-hand seat was for the Queen, who is no more, so it was empty.

“Great creatures of the night!” exclaimed King Herod.

“Great!” The whole crowd echoed in unison.

“It's of great delight I welcome you all. Today marks the twentieth memorial of our dear Queen, my late wife, and Luna, Her Royal Majesty Maya knight. Even though she is not here with us, she continues to live in our hearts because we night creatures are destined to live forever.” Dad said as he addressed the crowd.

The entire room was utterly quiet as only Dad's voice could be heard.

I felt my stomach tighten into bolts, something wrong was happening to me, but I wasn't sure. I held my stomach trying to soothe the pain, but it couldn’t go away. It kept getting worse.

“Now it's time to make…” my senses went numb as the slow painful torture took hold of me, I couldn't hear anything they were saying in the room, and my head felt dizzy as it seemed the whole room felt like it was spinning.

Something sharp poked me in my stomach. I looked down to see my fingers were changing into sharp long claws, my whole hands were hairy.

“Dad, take the pain away…” I uttered. That was the last thing I heard myself say before I saw total darkness.
