Chapter 6

The frail old lady had brought me into a large filled room which had bunk beds. I guess that’s where all the maids stayed.

Some were sleeping and snoring loudly already, while some formed groups and were babbling about whatever.

As I walked in I felt their whole gaze at me. Feeling a bit awkaI just put my head down and followed behind the old lady.

“Here is your bed.” The old lady says as she stopped at the end of the room pointing to a corner.

I looked in there and someone was already sleeping on the down bunk and the empty one above her was filled with junks. It was messy. I gulped and thanked the old lady.

I watched her leave the room till there was no sign of ger again. Looking back at the old messy bed before me, I sighed not sure where to start from.

I started bringing down the stuff one at a time. They were all dusty, this was my first time cleaning. I’m a fucking Princess for crying out loud. But I wouldn’t say that out loud.

“Hello I’m Danielle, let me help you.” I turned to the soft voice who spoke to me only to see a little girl probably around the age of sixteen.

“Hmm…thank you so much, I’m Jasmine.” I say.

“Nice to meet you Jasmine.” She responds without glancing at me. She quickly emptied the bed in no time while I stood gaping.

“I’ll get you new bed sheets and some fresh clothes. You look awful.” She says in a mean yet sweet way.

I couldn’t help but smile awkwardly running my hands through my hair.

“Thankyou.” I muttered. I didn’t get a reply as she turned to go grab the clothes.

In a minute she appeared back to where I stood.

“Follow me, let me show you the shower room.”

I nodded and followed right behind her. I just smiled remembering all the times I ordered the maids around. Now I was being ordered by a fellow maid as well. Sigh.

We got to the shower room. It was quite a large room that would fit fifty people at once. There were twelve showers hanging on the wall.

The thought of them all bathing here at once and seeing each other naked sent shivers down my spine. ThankGoodness it was empty for now.

“I’ll be waiting outside,” Danielle said and left me alone in the empty shower room.

I got to a corner, pulled off all my clothes and turned the shower on. The water was so cold, I shivered and turned to look for some sort of heater.

“Damn it.” I shrieked.

“Are you ok!” Danielle said, rushing in.

“Ahh!” I screamed covering my private areas.

She looked at me questionly. I was filled with utter embarrassment and shame.

“What is there to hide? we all have the same body parts.” She said nonchalantly. “Why did you scream?”

“D_danielle please turn around first.” I pleaded, she sighed and rolled her eyes and then turned.

“So what is it?” she asked impatiently.

“The water was just cold. I need some hot water.”

“The fuck you kidding me.” she yelled about turning a gin but I stopped her.

“What are you some fairy tale princess?” how could I tell her I was her future Queen.

“Oh come on, sigh we all bathe with the water this way.” she sighed and left.

Shaking my head, I was left to my fate. I gently immersed myself in the cold water, I had no choice either way. It was part of my experience.

“I need to research that girl right away.” Ryland commanded.

“Alpha Ryland, you don’t possibly think she could be your mate?” Kai asked.

“She is my mate, I can sense it.”

“She is just a commoner, the witches said she is someone powerful.”

“We don't know till we find out, she is possibly hiding her identity. Search the whole pack and other packs and make findings.” Ryland says, running his hand through his hair.

He had been paranoid since he met Jasmine. After centuries of searching he would finally be set free from his misery.

“Alpha Ryland, but the pack needs you.” Kai says worriedly. His expression went down.

“Spare me that Kai, you are in a better position to rule either way. I don’t belong here and you know better. It would be a matter of time before I happen to kill everyone.”

“There could be another way…”

“Stop it Kai!” Ryland growled. His appearance suddenly changing. His skin was getting pale and his fangs were coming out longer than usual.

Kai quickly brought him a mixture in a small shot cup and forced it down his throat making him return back to normal.

Ryland breathes raggedy, he falls to the ground trying to regain himself. Kai helps him get up and places him on a seat.

“Kai, promise me you will fight me to the very end if I ever escalate.”

Kai sighed and fixed his gaze on the ground without saying a word.

“You have to do it Kai, for the pack and for everyone.”

“Have some rest.” Kai said and walked out of the room.

“Wake up sleeping beauty,” I hear someone tapping me.

I was so tired and wasn't ready to get up. I had slept so damn late last night.

“You have to get up now or you might get us both in trouble.” the person yelled jolting me up this time.

I rubbed the sleep off my eyes and was about to get off the bed when I missed my steps and fell face down to the ground.

“Ouchhh!” I yelped. I totally forgot I was no longer in the palace but in a maids room, sleeping on a top bunk.

“B-u-n-k-e-r-s” Danielle helped me get up. I had a slight cut on my ankle, which made me unable to walk.

Thanks to Danielle I was helped to the bathroom, I had my bathe and came out. She had prepared some new maid clothes for me waiting on my bed and a pack of princess bandages.

“Thanks Danielle.” I smiled warmly at her help.

“Yeah right, it's not for free tho.” she said, rolling her eyes.

“Tell me then, what can I do to repay you.” I said while dressing up.

“Breakfast”

“Hughh???” i was confused at what she meant

“We had waffles and tea for breakfast, since you are yet to eat I need some of yours. We younger maids below eighteen had less meals than the adults.” she says her gaze fixed on the ground like she was embarrassed.

“Uhmm…ok then, let's go get mine.”

“Seriously?” she asks her face to lighten up.

“Well yeah you have been of great help since I got here, it's the least I could do.”

We walked out of the maids quarter with me limping and Danielle holding on to me. We talked on our way to the kitchen. I got to learn that Danielle was an only child and her parents had abandoned her while she was four at the packs gate, thanks to the old lady who sneaked her in and kept her as her child. When she turned twelve she asked her to join the servants in working if she still wanted to be eating for free.

It was so sad to hear how people's lives turned out to be and here I was complaining of my life as a locked up princess.

We went to the kitchen after I collected mine, Danielle and I sat at a corner to eat. The waffles tasted horrible so I just let her have them all while I drank just the tea. She did enjoy the meal a lot while I sat and laughed at how she ate.

“Miss Jasmine you are needed in the main building.” I hear my name called out from a speaker. Shivers went down my spine as I was not sure what I had gotten myself into.

Did they find out my secret or were any of the guards from the palace caught? Where was Ryu?
