KEYLA

I was stunned, staring blankly at him like I had seen a ghost or something. How was this possible? He called me his mate, but we weren't even mates.

He was caressing my face gently, staring into my eyes. I noticed he had a striking resemblance with Chase but I wasn't quick to jump into assumptions.

“W–Who are you?” I asked, my voice stuttering.

He smiled, revealing his dimples that caused me to feel some type of way I'm my stomach. “My name is Hunter.”

I was still confused, or maybe this was just an hallucination and the alcohol was just getting to me. I didn't know what to think. I wanted to know more than I had already been told.

I was about to ask more questions when a well built man arrived in black suit and a ear piece attached to his right ear. I was guessing he was a security. And for this mysterious handsome stranger to have a security, means he's someone of importance.

“Sorry to interrupt, sir,” he apologized. “Devante is here and we've gotten a clue of his where about. We have to leave before he disappears again.”

Judging by the expression on Hunter's face, I could tell that he was very disappointed but didn't say anything to his bodyguard.

He turned to me and said, “Sorry, honey. But duty calls.” He caressed my cheeks gently, and left with his body guard.

This is crazy. A stranger arrived, claiming I'm his mate sbd just left without any other information. How can he be my mate though? Chase is my mate and I couldn't help but notice that he resembled Chase.

Okay, I'm going crazy.

“What are you doing here?” Oakley's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

She had a worrisome expression on her face, I got up to look at her, trying to create a neutral expression on my face. The last thing I wanted was to get her worried for no reason.

“Um…I got lost and couldn't find my way back,” I lied to her.

She heaved a deep sigh, her expression softened. “You can't scare me like that anymore. I panicked and thought something happened to you or something.”

“Sorry about that, Oakley,” I apologized. “Can we go home? I'm kind of having a terrible headache right now.”

She nodded in response and helped me up. “Let's go. I'd call a cab, you wait outside for me and don't think of disappearing.”

I nodded, chuckling softly at her statement.

Once we arrived home, I couldn't help but think about that handsome stranger. How can I get to know more about him? Are we actually mates? How can I get to see him again?

He didn't give me any form of contact and I wasn't sure how to find him. Should I go back to the bar or something?

I thought of telling Chase about it, but I knew the jerk couldn't give a shit about me anyways and probably would be relieved I have a mate so he'd be able to enjoy his life with his model like boyfriend.

******

I showed up at work the next day feeling more drained than usual. I went through the motions like I always did—grabbed a coffee for myself, and one for Chase, black with two sugars. I balanced both cups carefully as I walked toward his office, trying not to spill anything even though my hands felt shaky.

I knocked once before stepping inside. Chase didn’t even look up. Typical.

I placed his coffee down gently on his desk, waiting a moment, hoping maybe today would be different. Maybe he’d look at me. Maybe he’d say thank you. Something. Anything.

But he didn’t. He just kept typing, his eyes glued to the screen like I was invisible.

"Morning," I said softly, even though I already knew he wasn’t going to answer.

Nothing. Not even a grunt.

I stood there like an idiot for another second before finally turning to leave. I almost laughed at myself. Why did I still care? Why did I still hope?

As I reached the door, his voice caught me off guard.

"We have a business party tonight," he said, not even bothering to look up. "You're coming with me."

I froze, my hand still on the doorknob.

"I—what?" I stammered, turning halfway back toward him.

He finally lifted his eyes, meeting mine just for a brief moment. It was quick—barely anything—but it still made my heart flip like it had no self-control.

"It’s important," he said. "Be ready by seven. I’ll send a car."

And just like that, he went right back to his computer, like the conversation was over.

I just stood there for a beat, feeling completely thrown off. Was I supposed to be happy? Confused? Angry? I didn’t even know anymore. Chase was a constant push and pull—cold one second, then dragging me into his world the next without any warning.

I swallowed down the million questions rising in my throat and gave a small nod, even though he wasn’t even looking anymore.

"Okay," I said quietly.

I slipped out of the office, closing the door behind me as softly as I could.

Walking back to my desk, my mind raced. I thought about the random guy I’d met at the bar last night—the one who actually saw me. The one who smiled like he meant it. For a second, I had wanted to tell Chase about it. Maybe make him jealous. Maybe remind him I wasn’t just some... assistant sitting around waiting for his scraps.

But I knew better. Chase didn’t care who I met. And if he did... he’d never admit it.

Still, tonight? Tonight felt different.

I hated how a small part of me—the part that still stupidly hoped for more—was already wondering what it would be like. Being by his side. Not just as his assistant... but something else.

I told myself not to overthink it. It was just work.

Just work.

But my heart wasn’t listening.

SULLIVAN It had been three whole days. Three long, quiet days. Sullivan hadn’t spoken to Ethan once. He kept calling and calling, but she didn’t answer. She didn’t even open his texts. She just stared at the screen every time his name popped up and felt her chest squeeze all over again. She still couldn’t forget what happened. The way he looked at her. The way he shouted. It wasn’t just normal anger. It was like he was someone else. Someone cold. Someone scary. Was that the real Ethan? Or was it just one bad moment? She didn’t know anymore. All she knew was that ever since that night, she didn’t feel the same about him. She thought he was different. She thought he was the one person who’d never raise his voice at her. The one person who made her feel safe. But now, all that felt like a lie. She sat on her bed, hugging her knees. Her phone buzzed again. She looked at the caller ID. It was Ethan. She sighed and placed the phone down without touching it. Then she heard footsteps

KEYLA I sat at my desk, staring at the blinking cursor on my screen, but my head was somewhere else. No matter how hard I tried to focus on work, Hunter kept popping into my mind. His smile, his laugh, the way he held me like I meant something to him. I didn’t know what that night did to him, but for me… everything had changed. It wasn’t just a random kiss or cuddling anymore. The mate bond was so strong now. I could feel it even when he wasn’t near me. It felt like something inside me was pulling me toward him every second, like I wasn’t whole unless he was around. Brad was giving me work like I was some kind of robot though. I had barely finished the report he asked for earlier when he dropped another one on my table with a grin on his face. “Think you can get this done before lunch ends?” he asked, acting all nice and chill like always, but I could tell he was trying to stress me out just a little. Maybe it was because I skipped work the other day. Or maybe Chase said something

SULLIVAN I froze at the door. I saw My mom in Ethan’s house. Sitting like she owned the whole place, with a half glass of wine in her hand and her legs crossed like she belonged there. She didn’t even look surprised to see me. She just glanced up from the couch with that usual fake smile on her face. “Hi sweetheart,” she said calmly, like this was normal. “Didn’t expect you so soon.” My eyes stayed glued to her. I couldn’t speak. My chest was tight, and my hands were shaking. Why was she here? Where was Ethan? What was happening? I stepped in slowly. “Where… where’s Ethan?” She raised the glass to her lips, sipped slowly, then let out a deep sigh. “Out.” I blinked. “Out where?” She looked at me now, really looked. “Honestly, I don’t know. But I’m sure he’ll be back soon. Sit down.” I didn’t sit. My brain was spinning in circles. “Why are you here? Why are you in his house?” She laughed a little. “Relax, Sully. I’m just visiting. It’s not a crime to talk to your daughter’s b

KEYLA I blinked my eyes open slowly. The room was quiet, soft morning light peeking through the curtains. For a second, I forgot where I was… then I felt something warm around me. My heart jumped. Hunter. He was lying beside me, one arm loosely around my waist, his face so close to mine and I froze. Oh my God. We were cuddling. Like, full-on cuddle mode. I looked at him. His eyes were still closed, and his breathing was calm, chest rising and falling gently. He looked peaceful. And annoyingly good-looking. His messy dark hair. His jawline. Those lashes that were way too long for a guy. I sighed. Last night… we talked so much. About random stuff. Funny stuff. Sad stuff. Deep stuff. We’d laughed. We’d argued over who the best Marvel character was. We even got into a weird convo about whether cereal was soup. It didn’t feel like flirting. It felt like… comfort. I wasn’t sure when we fell asleep. But now he was here, on my bed. In my room. In my house. And I didn’t hate it.

HUNTER “Hey!” He greeted me. He clung tightly to the tree next to my window so he won't fall. I was still very stunned and just stared at him like I had seen a ghost. “Can I come in?” I regained my composure and let him in. He was dressed in a simple sweatpants and hoodie covering his head. He stood in the middle of my room like he was trying to get the full intake. “Beautiful room,” he complimented And that was when it hit me. That I had a boy standing in my room, and I didn't even check to see if everything was in check. It wasn't exactly messy because I was in a good mood to clean it before leaving for work this morning. But I prayed that there was no underwear in sight otherwise I would die. “W—What are you doing here?” I asked, still trying to wrap my head around the fact that he was here and he was standing in my room. He smiled. “I missed you, Keyla.” I felt butterflies in my tummy. It was this strange feeling I couldn't help whenever I was around Hunter, it's crazy h

  • Mated to the Alpha Twins   Chapter 25

KEYLA My body ached after a long day of work. Brad made sure to give me a lot of work because there was a promotion on ground and I wanted to be the one to get it so I was putting up with all of these to please him and I prayed he considered me. The bus was approaching me and I checked my bag to look for my bus card and also money. But I couldn't find my card in my bag and without it, I wouldn't be able to take the bus plus the cab was very expensive and I didn't have any spare change to add to my bus money to afford a cab. I knew I shouldn't have bought those tacos at the canteen earlier today but they were so tempting and I did my maths without realizing that I was without my bus card. I started walking, making my way to the best subway which would take me more than ten minutes to get to. It was the only hope of getting home. A black car pulled up next to me on the road, but I ignored it, not thinking much of it until I heard the passengers' voice. “Keyla.” I turned to see Ch
