Ryker
I dithered before giving chase to my mate, observing as she shifted into her gorgeous midnight colored wolf and took off for what I hoped would soon become our home.
My wolf had been gnawing at the edges of my mind, slashing at my skin to spring free since the second we had broken from the confines of Ronnie’s house and into the fresh air. I couldn’t hide the degree of his hold over me as I finished talking, but I reveled in my mate’s reaction to my wolf’s presence, regardless.
I stopped resisting the impulse to switch shapes when Ronnie kicked up the dirt beneath her paws, transforming into my own inky black colored wolf, though I was much larger in comparison to Ronnie’s. My wolf also had white on his muzzle, whereas hers was totally solid.
I sank my claws deep int
Ryker This was not what I had in mind when I had said I didn't intend on sleeping much tonight. I shrugged on some pants while Ronnie opted to wrap the bedsheet around her toned figure. The tantalizing view suited me just fine, and the outfit had the added benefit of allowing me to keep my hands glued to the silky skin her scantily clad body exposed. I was royally pissed with Asher's ordered, "Call me now." through the link. Even so, I knew that whatever he had to say would be important. He had not been able to check in the other day for long, but I knew he had something serious to say now if he did not want to hash it out through mind link. Ronnie thankfully took everything in stride, not letting anything phase her while she was in her happy place. I felt a sense of male pride at being capable of evoking the emotions I could feel echoing back to me through our new bond. I remained disgruntled as
Veronica "Are you sure you don't want to join us?" I asked Mari one more time before meeting Remus out front. "No, that's okay. I was going to make myself some lunch, and then head over to the community center to start decorating for the dance. You guys have fun though." I returned her smile and reminded her to stay alert when she went out. Ryker had sent out a warning to the whole pack through mind link earlier this morning. He had kept it vague, but he advised everyone to be wary when outside alone and to travel in at least pairs when venturing out of town. He had apprised me of what I missed last night after falling asleep, but my mind had also been a shattered mess after the wakeup call that he gave me preceding the information. The delicious ache between my thighs persisted, serving as a reminder of all the naughty things my mate and I partook in last night. At any rate,
Ryker I was relieved the unrelenting tug of the mating bond seemed to finally be receding now Ronnie and I had exchanged claiming bites and permanently declared our intentions for all to see. I continued to feel drawn towards her, but I was able to focus more fully on my surroundings now the feeling had decreased in strength. My wolf persisted to sulk after I dropped my mate off at home late this morning, but the bond between us had morphed into a deeper level of connection, permitting my uneasiness to lessen when not in her proximity. It comforted me being able to reach out to her and feel her emotions at any point, to know she was okay when I was not around. All the same, I could not deny I was feeling sorrowful to be leaving her side as well, and I could not resist laying another smoldering kiss on her soft lips before I went, making damn certain I was ingrained in her mind every bit as much as she had already managed t
Veronica Ryker stayed true to his word and turned up around the same time as dinner to eat with us and help put Roxi to bed afterward. Even still, I found myself confused by the noticeable scent of earth that clung to his tanned skin when he arrived in spite of the fresh soap I could detect layered over it. He had not mentioned what the task was he had to complete with the others earlier when dropping me off at the rec center, but I will confess his fragrance after the fact left me intrigued. Most of the conversation over dinner centered on the warriors who were scheduled to arrive sometime tomorrow. Nevertheless, I could not help but observe Mari did not provide any input about the matter. It was not entirely uncommon for her to remain removed from the discussion, but I wondered periodically throughout the night if there was not another reason behind her silence. Rox
Veronica Scarlett and Mari insisted on watching Roxi for me while I went to my training session with Ryker. I was eager to be spending time alone with him. It seemed like we had hardly found any of it recently to concentrate on just each other with all the preparations and the ever-present task of keeping the pack safe taking center stage. I set off on foot in the direction of the training grounds, ignoring the inner protest from my wolf for disregarding one of my mate's requests. I knew Ryker did not want me promenading through the woods by myself, but I reasoned I would be fine with Roxi at home if something did occur. I had used the same path for the last two weeks, and I had never noticed anything out of the ordinary. I persisted in using the same cautious mindset as I traversed the trail towards the training grounds, and everything appeared exactly the same, despite me being by myself this time around.
Veronica I could hear Jax and Asher were arguing from their respective ends of the line, competing to be heard over the volume in the room which suddenly flared up with Ryker's big reveal, but I could not understand much of what passed with all the noise as I gathered my bearings. Then, Scarlett's voice rang out above them all, drowning out everything else as she yelled, "Would you guys shut up long enough for him to finish explaining?" Jax muttered something unintelligible under his breath in response, whereas the others immediately clammed up at Scarlett's reprimand. I found my own voice at that point, piping up, "Seriously. I am obviously fine if I am sitting here talking to you on the phone Jax. Calm down already so we can figure out what to do from here." Ryker straightened in his seat as all eyes focused on him thereafter. Meanwhile, I secretly reveled
Ryker My wolf mentally dug his claws in at the mere thought of leaving Ronnie's side, but I had no doubt it would have been physically as well if I did not have such a tight leash on him. He already bested me one too many times today with all the turmoil of the afternoon and the frightening revelation that followed. I had no intention of letting him get the better of me again, even if the wounds from his razor-sharp claws had healed completely with my accelerated healing abilities by this point. I did not like the idea of leaving any more than he did, especially knowing I would likely not be back in time for Roxi's bedtime tonight with all the tasks piling up. Nevertheless, I knew I had to catch those bastards once and for all. I was not naive enough to believe my mate had not been the one targeted for a reason, no way in hell was it a coincidence. That was one of the motivating factors spurring me out of t
Ryker I shifted uncomfortably in my seat as all eyes fell on me, wincing as a shard of wood dug into my ass. I guess Asher must have broken something when I hurled him into it earlier in an effort to prevent him from destroying my mate's living room. I was damn glad she wasn't here now, but I also wasn't touching Jax's last statement with a ten-foot pole. I cleared my throat and launched right into the heart of the matter, "I spent the last several hours scouring the forest between town and the training grounds, but I wasn't able to find where he disappeared to. What are we going to do about the dance?" I knew bringing up the missing elder would get Jax to recenter his concentration, and the open-ended question would buy me time to come up with an excuse in case he circled back later. Notwithstanding, I was also aware Ronnie and Mari put a lot of effort into the event. I already saw the decorations they put u
