My true mate could be anywhere in the world. A dreamy look filled my eyes. My pulses picked up as I smelled his familiar scent. No way, he could be here. Could he?
I darted my big eyes around. I hurried out of my room, "Momma! Momma! Did someone..." My jaw fell open. When I could smell his scent in the living room too. He was here.
"Here you are, my dear. You missed breakfast with Alpha Troy," Carina aunty said. Her small smile never left her.
"What?" It was a whisper. I snapped my jaw shut, "He was here?" I drifted my gaze from aunty to my mother. I couldn't keep the astonishment away from my expression.
"Yes, are you hungry?" She asked with her usual full smile.
"Yeah," I muttered, sitting down on the chair. I wasn't certain. He was here. My mother was the best cook, no doubt. Obviously, this would be the reason.
Mom placed a bowl full of chopped fruits, "Why did he come?" I asked, feeling a rush of warmth begin in my belly at the thought of him being here. He came here, to our old home.
"He wanted to eat tasty food before leaving," Carina said.
"Leaving!" My voice filled with shock and my head jerked at her.
"Yes, get ready for school." My mother told me.
"School! But the examination is over. What would I do there? Don't you want my help to take care of your herbs, and plants?" I asked with a frown. She never asked me to get ready for school.
"Oh, Alpha Troy left his warriors. So they could learn something from your mom. He was impressed with the huge garden in our backyard." Carina said
My gaze rested on the door. Max walked in, his beta and a girl younger than me were trailing behind him. What was happening? Did he leave his warrior to learn? That did not settle well with me.
"Good morning, Martha, Carina." He smiled at the woman.
My mother and Carina greeted them with a warm smile and asked them to join us for the breakfast
Kelvin greeted everyone and sat calmly next to me. Mom placed another bowl, bigger than mine, in front of him. The girl stayed behind him, scared and timid.
"Thanks, Martha." Kelvin began to eat, not bothered about anyone.
"Martha, She's Ammu. Fabri would have told you about her," Max said, gesturing at the girl.
She was looking hesitant and in dread. She took a few steps forward and bowed her head. She didn't speak a word and stayed there in fear.
"Have you frightened her, Max?" I stared at him. He was a brother, he wouldn't do anything wrong to any girl, or which he wouldn't endure for his sister.
"She's a lone wolf. Troy and I found her on the premises of our territory. She was wandering alone." He said, returning the stare.
"Some people were chasing me. They wanted to sell me. I was running for my life," Ammu told us in her dreadful voice. She wrapped her arms around her.
"Oh sweetie," momma took her in an embrace. She wasn't bothered about her dirty clothes, dirt on her face, messy hair, "Nothing to worry. You're safe now." She patted her hand on her back softly. Obviously, she'd be frightened to hurt her. The girl looked fragile.
Ammu's chin began to tremble, tears rolled down her dirty cheeks. Poor girl! I wouldn't mind taking her in as my little sister.
"I want you to take her under your care, to your house. She's a healer," Max said.
"Oh great." Carina smiled.
"We can adopt her," My mother looked at me, her arms still draped around her slim body.
"She's a stranger," I told them. My mother's face fell, "If she's not a danger we can adopt her." I said with a smile. I felt sadness crawling over her face too.
"She's not a danger. Troy himself checked on her background. Her parents were killed by rogues," Kelvin said.
Her parents' mention brought more tears to her eyes, "What's your age, dear?" Carina asked.
"Fifteen," She stuttered because of tears and emotions.
"You must be hungry. Sit down, young lady." Mom sauntered into the kitchen.
Carina began to whisper and talk to her in a sweet tone. No one wanted to see her in tears. We had faced a lot after the attack.
I felt Max's gaze on me. I caught marks on his neck, "What happened to you?" I asked.
"We killed two wild bears last night," His words couldn't convince me. There should not be claw's marks, or dried blood. He was an alpha. His wounds should heal faster than a blink. Did he get into a fight with someone, or Troy?
I nodded my head as I was not getting any details. Mom piled the plates in front of her. Ammu glanced at food with big watery eyes.
"Finish it, Ammu. You need to shower. My old clothes would fit you," I told her.
She smiled at me and slightly nodded her head. Her bottom lip was trembling.
"Don't feel shy, sweetheart," Carina said, still rubbing her hand on her back, speaking to her politely.
My mother walked Max and Kelvin out of the house. I couldn't pick a single word exchanged between them. I pushed the worries away and glanced down at my untouched fruit salad.
Claudia dumped her old clothes on the single bed. Momma and Carina cleaned the storeroom next to my room. There was a single bed, a desk for study, and a closet. Troy's warriors, Kelvin and Fabri, helped them in making with the use of old furniture and wood from Woodhouse. I could still smell the strong scent of paint. They have also painted the walls.
"Would she like them?" Claudia frowned at her old clothes. They were neatly folded. She wasn't looking sure.
My gaze dropped to the next pile on her bed, "I'm worried about it too. We should buy her a few new dresses too." I told her.
"Yes, I wouldn't buy new clothes." She said, turning to me.
"Yes, we'll buy her new clothes. Good decision." I hugged her. We were excited to have a new healer. People were going to address her as my mother's daughter, more than me. I adopted my father's ability more than my mother's. But, I'm a healer too, knowledge of all herbs but I wasn't strong like my mother.
"What should I wear?" She came into the room, draped in my towel. Her wet hair was blonde and tied up in a bun. I couldn't see her beautiful hair before because of dirt.
"You're beautiful, Ammu." Claudia pulled her to her side and plucked the best dress from the heap. Blue jeans and a white top. We painted friends forever on it when we were fifteen.
"Use my room to change," I told her.
She took clothes from Claudia's hands and hurried next door.
I opened the cupboard. Claudia began to place them inside, "Why would they have gone so soon?" Claudia asked.
She didn't need to say his name, "He's the alpha as you have told me. He must have a lot of things to do." I told her.
Indeed, the same question was nagging me.
"I wanna see Claire's face," She giggled, picking the tops.
"Shouldn't we visit her?" I asked.
"No way," Claudia made a face, "Just don't talk about it, bae." She waved her hand in the air.
"How do I look?" Ammu asked us in a weak tone.
Our gazes turned to her. She was slender, but wouldn't be any longer. Momma would be running after her, forcing her to eat.
"I know. You'll look beautiful," Claudia clapped her hands.
"Should I comb your hair?" I asked.
Her eyes widened one more time. I could smell her fear and shock. Slowly she nodded her head.
"Do you like your room?" Claudia asked, chewing on her bottom lip. She was nervous.
Ammu drifted her eyes full with shock around, her feet moved slowly, touching every possessive in the room, "It's very beautiful. Thank you so much, Kim, Ladia," She used our shorts names, which our parents and friends used, making eye contact with us.
I gestured at the three feet mirror on the wall and the chair in front of it.
I was reliving the memories spent with him. Being with Claudia and Ammu was a great distraction. He wasn't around but he was in my room before leaving and now, he was toying with my mind. 'Get a hold of yourself,' "Look at yourself, girl," Claudia shouted cheerfully. I glanced at them, "Let's go to school," I told them. "I didn't want to," Ammu said immediately. Frighten returned on her face. "Oh, come! You'll like it there and make new friends. You have us if someone teases you," Claudia tugged her with her, enveloping her arm around her slim arm. I stumbled over something when I saw a bigger man standing out near the Apple tree. His arms were bulky and long, he must be seven feet tall. His dark gaze turned to me. He could kill us easily. "He's Brew. He saved me last night." Ammu spoke and stepped forward, offering him a smile. She bowed her head. "Why does she always bow her head?" Claudia asked with a c
Panic was overtaking my senses. My mouth and throat were dry. Fear was coursing through my body. I was sitting on the bed, next to my mother. She hadn't talked to me, nor opened her eyes. Everything seemed to end when you saw your only family in such a condition. I tried everything that my mother taught me in these years. "We tried everything," Ammu whispered in a sad tone. Her healing power couldn't heal her too. "We can't stop trying. She's.. my only family," I muttered with tears, choking on my words. "I..I..." She closed her mouth. Tears shone in her eyes, "I should talk to Alpha. Could be, he had found someone." She rose to her feet. I nodded as I couldn't speak. My gaze was on the pale face of my mother. I wanted to kill Claire. But that could wait. I needed to be close to her. She might unfurl her eyes at any time. Deep down I knew, it was almost impossible. No one could survive from silver. They were deadly weapons.
I couldn’t believe that I had slept like a dead person. Did he not ask me to take a nap? My gaze turned to the window. I could see the sun raising up in the sky. 'No one came to wake me up.' I yawned and kept looking out of the window. My mother's thoughts in blood made me jerk on my feet. I couldn't enjoy the silence of the morning. I exhaled loudly before getting out of bed. I freshened up hurriedly and rushed out of the room. My mother would be fine. I told myself. Troy and Max were having their breakfast. I didn't intend to greet them. I sauntered over to the door of my mother's room. Ammu was sitting on the chair, her eyes trained on mom, "She's getting better. The gash is healing." She must have scented me. My eyes darted to my mother's face. She was getting her colors back, "Yes, did she wake up?" I asked in a soft voice. She needed proper rest. "Not yet, but soon," She breathed slowly as it would disturb her
He pressed his lips to my throat, right where he knew he would mark me on full moon night. In front of my family and our pack members, I was asked to sign papers that would bound us legally. "Kim," I stilled for a second. I slowly turned my head and saw my mother with Amanda holding her by the shoulder, supporting her weight. I rushed at my mother and pulled her in a hug, "Oh, I'm so glad, so so..." She was safe. They saved her. She pulled back resting her shivering hands on my shoulders. "I always wanted to see in a white dress. Thank you for fulfilling my demands." Her gaze turned behind me. I couldn't see his reaction. Momma used to see a stupid tv show. I thought she was just saying that she wanted to see me in a white wedding dress and everything like they showed in the show. "You shouldn't come out. You are weak," I told her. Her eyes were small, black lips, a tired look on her face. ''I don't want to miss this. I'm relieved you didn't
I woke up with tranquility I hadn't perceived ever. My eyes were big seeing luxury encircling me. I roamed my gaze around me. My wolf nudged me at the back of my head. She was happy. But I wasn't. A scowl crawled over my forehead when I recalled everything. My mother pushed me away from herself, my house, and my normal happy life. I yanked the comforter away in frustration. Before I could break something in the room, my eyes locked on the alpha. A wave of longing shot through me. He could smell, and sense easier than other wolves. I pushed my thoughts away but his smile told me he had smelled my emotions. My wolf longed to be with him. Why wasn't she understanding, he wasn't our fated mate. I was fighting against those unwanted feelings. I felt a wave of his physical desire. With big eyes, I pushed myself back, "Don't come near to me," I told him. His soft smile was still lingering on his lips, "It's normal. My wol
I couldn't hold my feet from sauntering out of the room. I was too lazy to pick up my phone and scroll down to find her number. I stared at the open field. "Almond orchard," I shouted in shock and exhilaration rushed through me. I have never seen so many white flower' trees, It was row after row. I kept pacing forward, going deep. My feet carried me toward them. I wanted to go back and bring my phone with me. I needed to take pictures. It looked so lovely. I smelled the wind. I could smell him in the air. It was faint. He wasn't far from me or he was here, he could have passed by too. My wolf pushed forward. She was restless. 'Your arranged mate is fine.' I told her with the roll of my eyes. I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply. Something unexpected happened. His scent was strong in the air. Was he around? My heart drummed at the thought of him around myself. Mostly werewolves faced their wolves but I was also facing my heart. It reacted st
The nagging feelings returned with my eyes opened in the morning. Light filtered in through the leaves of the tree out of the window. I wrapped my arms around myself, rubbing my hands on my arms. I could feel the goosebumps. I became increasingly aware of his presence, and my gaze drifted around, looking for him. My gaze halted on him, finding him already looking at me. His shirtless body was glistening with sweat. He was doing push-ups, but his eyes were lifted to me. His amber gaze both frightened and stirred something deep in my belly. Drawing himself up, he trotted over to the table where his towel was waiting for him. He grabbed the towel and rubbed it around his neck, and his sculpted chest. His arms crossed, a stern look marring his face. He slowly stepped forward, raising an eyebrow, "Didn't I tell you to train yesterday, mate?" His voice dropped, and I realized I had stirred the wolf within him. "I told you. I don't want to,
I couldn't sit calmly. I was feeling nettled, angry with him that I couldn't think straight. I could hear my breathing loud in my ears that it made my thinking fade. My footsteps were ringing in the room. I was considering killing him. I needed to be alone with him. I needed a proper plan. "Contemplating to kill me, mate?" My head jerked at the door. His appearance infuriated me, my fingers pressed in my palms, "How dare you come in front of me?" I snapped in vexation. "Love," His low voice was soothing. Anxiety flooded through me as I recalled her words. He lifted his hand to touch my face, "Get away," I felt tears stinging my eyes as I pried his hand away. My breathing quickened as I turned away from him. 'Calm down,' I heard him in my mind. My gaze turned to him in exasperation, "How could you even do that? I'm not your mate." I whisper-yelled at him. He wrapped a gentle hand around my throat. He growled glaring at me. I clawed a
