LOGINYou know all I’ve ever really wanted was to make a name for myself. Getting recruited into the pack was never apart of my goals, it just felt nice to know the potential was there.
I’m not sure working with the most dangerous ruthless pack was ever in the cards for me, but I pictured it for a moment. Only a moment was all I was allotted for though.
My phones back at it again, so I’ve turned it on vibrate, but the pounding on the front door tells me he’s done waiting for me to answer.
I stare at the ceiling of my bedroom, not making any moves to get up and answer.
I’ve always known that he had a mate out there, always had a sneaking suspicion that it wasn’t me, no matter how good he treated me.
Had I known that mate was my best friend or my greatest enemy, I would have stepped aside and let them have him. I think he’s always known that too. It’s why I’m assuming I was never made aware of the situation.
I’ve never questioned how much he loved me. I’ve only ever questioned how much I loved him. You fight for the ones you love, right? I should want to fight for him, claim him, but I’ve never really wanted that. I want him to be happy, and I don’t think I’ve ever truly believed that it would end up being me that made him that way.
The door to my bedroom slams open, my head turns towards him, his face a mixture of fury and sadness. I slowly sit up and he falls to his knees in front of me, grabbing my hands and gently kissing up my wrist. “I’m sorry. I’m so so sorry. I should have told you. I swear, Baby Girl. Sex with her means nothing to me. Please, forgive me.”
I grab his chin and move his head to look at me, I pull my lips between my teeth, then start, “You belong with Kiera. She’s your mate and you’re only torturing both of you by not accepting that. What we had was amazing, but I think we both knew it would have to end eventually.” I tell him calmly, but his head instantly starts shaking. “I don’t want her.” He repeats, but I smile again. “She’s your soulmate. Give her a chance.” I chuckle, soft and sad, “She’s literally one of the best people I’ve met in this pack, and I think you’re lucky that she’s the mate the Goddess chose for you.”
His jaw tightens and his eyes close, “The Goddess chose wrong.”
I shake my head, “Please, Sam. You’re making this harder than it needs to be. I just want you to be happy, and at the moment, I want that to happen away from me.”
I move to stand and he follows me, I place my hand gently on his jaw and look into his eyes, “I won’t stand in your way. You belong with Kiera.” I whisper. He lays his forehead down on mine, “All doing this will tell me is how much I belong with you. Will you wait for me?” My nose scrunches and I pull away. He shakes his head, “After I do what you’re begging me to do. You’ll be here waiting, right? At least until I mark her.” He asks and my mouth falls open.
“You want me to wait for you?” I ask again, needing to be sure I heard him right. He nods, “You want this, Thea. Not me. I’m only willing to do this if I know you’ll wait for me when it doesn’t work.”
I shake my head, “You cheated on me.” I rasp. “No. No… No. I didn’t cheat. I was only sating my wolf.”
A dark laugh leaves me, “Your dick went inside of another girl, that’s cheating no matter how you justify it.”
A low growl leaves him, “You wouldn’t understand. You’re wolf-less.” He snaps, and I scoff. “Get out.” I growl; his eyes widen. “I’m sorry.” He rushes, but I’m already shaking my head. “Get out, Sam! I don’t want you here, I’m not waiting for you while you go fuck my best friend, I don’t love you anymore!” I shout, my emotions finally getting the best of me.
He takes a step towards me. “Get out.” My dad snarls from the threshold, and Sam turns to look at him. “Sir…” My dad’s head shakes, “She said get out.” He snarls, his body shaking as he tries to control his anger.
My face flushes, how much of that did he hear?
Sam storms past my dad, and we both stand in silence as we wait for the door to slam shut. Once it does, he looks back at me. “We’re going to figure out a way to get you to Shadow pack.”
Orion's POVComing out of the bathroom, the lights are dim and my eyes find her curled into a ball laying on the couch, a blanket draped over her fragile body.I turn to the desk, Cyrus sitting in the dark, a lamp switched on, on his desk. The dim light lights the fury written across his face.I walk over to our closet, grabbing a pair of sweatpants, then walking over to the desks.‘What happened?” I mind-link him not wanting to wake her.His glare turns up to me, ‘You should have forced her home with you the second you met her.’ He snarls. We’ve discussed this. He knows why that wasn’t an option. I have no desire to make her hate us, forcing the marriage was risky enough.‘We’ve talked about this.’ I growl back. His jaw ticks. ‘We waited too long. We should have gotten to her sooner.’ He snaps, and I sigh, glancing over at her.I couldn’t agree more.We should have just started a war to get her. I was too patient. I didn’t think he’d hurt her. What I had seen… He loved her. Loved her
I don’t hurry up; I take my time. Letting the water wash over my body and clean away this entire day. Orion has made it pretty clear he has no intention of hurting me, so I figure I have a little leeway when it comes to his orders.I get out of the shower, wrapping the towel around my waist and walking over to the closet. It’s huge, everything I could ever dream of is in here. I run my fingers along the lines of clothes, fancy dresses, to work out outfits.I reach for the lavender sweats and hoodie. When I walk out to the bathroom again, I finally take a step towards the mirror. An ugly yellow and green bruise covers nearly half my face. My father wasn’t lying, I look like I haven’t eaten in months, and for the most part, I haven’t.I start running through the cabinets, looking for any coverage. Judging from Cyrus’s reaction last time, seeing my face completely bare probably won’t be the best option.I can’t find anything.I grunt, frustrated and look over at the door. I don’t know wh
“She can stay with me.” My father tells Orion, as we drop him off at his room, on our way to ours.Orions grip tightens around my waist. “I have things I need to discuss with my wife. And as new as this all is, she is my wife, the Luna of this pack. You need to realize this and stop trying to interfere.” He responds calmly, and I give my dad a small smile, “It’s fine, dad. I’ll be fine.” I tell him and his eyes narrow onto mine. “You’re saying that quite a bit lately.”I shrug, “Not dead yet.” I joke and he rolls his eyes, then glances back at Orion before turning his gaze back to me again, “I’ll see you first thing in the morning.” He pauses looking back at Orion, “She better be unharmed.” He growls.Orion nods, barely glancing at my father before dragging me down the hall.We get to our room, and he opens the double doors. Cyrus looks up from his spot at the giant desk in the corner and stands slowly walking closer to us.My eyes move around the room; my arms crossed in front of my
Pity fills his vision, “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that.” He curses, then pulls me to start walking again.I rush to keep up, “Two months?” I ask, and he looks at me, then forward again. Two months? We get to the healers, and I rush inside and find my father sitting in a chair. His face scrunched in pain as the healer works on his leg.I fall into his arms, and he wraps his around me the best he can.I can’t stop the tears from falling once I’m with him.“I’m fine. I’m fine.” He whispers, pulling back and looking me over, “How are you?” He asks, and tears flood my eyes again. “It was Sam. He left us down there for a month after Alpha died.” I cry, and he pulls me back into his chest. “I know, I know. It’s all going to be okay.” He whispers soothingly.I pull back wiping the tears from my eyes.He pulls his leg back from the healer, “Sit. You need checked.” I shake my head, “I’m fine.”He shakes his head. “I heard your screams. You don’t heal like wolves. I can’t imagine how much
Shadows encase us, covering the world around us, “Thea!” I barely hear before the shadows completely close around us, blocking it out.The one I met grabs my waist and holds onto me tightly, “My father.” I rasp, wide eyes turning up towards him. He nods, “He’s coming.”I take a deep breath and the feeling of falling takes over all my senses.I grab onto the Alpha for dear life, throwing my face into his chest and he pulls me tighter. The jolt when we hit solid ground, has me falling back, but the other Alpha catches us both as I try to pull both of us to the ground. “We’ll need to work on her shadow travel.” He tells his brother, and I finally get my bearings.I look around, dark lands, my eyes darting in all directions. “Your father’s being taken directly to the healers. We’ll take the scenic route to get you healed as well.”I eyes knit, “I’m fine. I just want to make sure he’s okay. Thank you for taking him.” I tell them, he nods. The other Alpha turns me towards him; his hand reac
Wrong.I stand in front of the double doors, the threat of my father and the guards standing behind me, looming over me like a dark cloud. My entire body shakes, my palms sweaty and the make-up plastered over my face to cover my bruises, melting. This isn’t how this is supposed to go.I won’t lie and say I never saw myself marrying Sam. I just always knew it wasn’t a possibility… But with his dad gone…“I can’t do this.” I whisper, turning to the woman. Her hands land on both my shoulders. “You have to… You have to, Thea…” She leaves the rest unsaid. My wide eyes turn towards the doors. The music starts up and they start to open. I take a deep breath and look through the doors. There’s only five people in attendance. My eyes search the small crowd, then land on my father. Beaten and broken, barely sitting up next to a guard.A small gasp escapes me, and his eyes well with tears. I suck in a sharp intake of breath and turn towards Sam. He smiles at me from down the aisle, reaching his
