My blood ran cold, yet I kept a smile as I turned to Treasure.

“Treasure, I think it's time you went to bed," I said.

He looked at me for a moment before nodding.

“Okay, mommy. Goodnight.” He turned to Leo and oblivious to the tension in the air, told Leo. “Goodnight, daddy.”

I heard the slight suck of breath from one of my parents, but I focused solely on my son, nudging him forward.

“Go on then," I said, as he yawned before moving up the stairs.

I watched him carefully until I was sure that he was out of sight and earshot. The sound of his guest room door shutting made me let out a breath of relief.

I shouldn't have let my guard down.

It happened instantly. One minute, we were all sitting on the table and in a flash, a person pinned Leo to the wall.

“Dad!” I called out, panic filling me as I stood up, speeding across the room.

My father was on his full feet, his hands wrapped around Leo's neck. Goddess! He was choking him!
