The new home.

Isabella's POV

'Goodness knows, that I will always love you...'

The song played as I looked out the car window, Treasure sleeping peacefully by my side. An unknown man beside me drove the car.

I was surprised to see that the day I was to be discharged, leaving the hospital, only to see a car waiting for me. The man's eyes flashed to show me who he was, but his scent was slightly similar, leaving me no chance for doubt. I climbed into the car, and from there we drove off.

The sight of trees was already becoming more frequent, looming over higher and higher the more we drove.

It was then I saw a gate. A large gate loomed over and as we passed, it was followed by multiple houses. It was something I hadn't expected. The area which still seemed close to the city had a unique rustic look, a mix of modern and traditional at the same time.

By the time the car stopped, we were parked in front of a large house. I looked up over the looming building.

Was it the pack house? Perhaps this was where I was to stay, amongst other people I was sure were living there.

I stepped out, careful not to wake Treasure while I did so. The man did the same before moving to the boot and bringing out a large box.

I wondered where he got it from before I heard a voice behind me.

"There you two are!"

I turned to see Sierra stepping out of the house. Holding him closer to my chest, I watched as she came closer.

"Take the box into the third room upstairs." She instructed the man who nodded before slipping into the house, luggage in hand.

Sierra turned to look at me, a look I matched with my guarded gaze.

"Well then, what are you waiting for?" She tilted her head. Her tone sounded arrogant. I bit my tongue, reminding myself that I was the one indebted to her before stepping in.

The interior of the house was something that I had never seen before, even on my visits to neighbouring packs. The house opened up to a large area filled with polished mahogany and a large chandelier. Although my pack house was Avery but as large, it didn't look as magnificent.

My pack house?

I tucked in my head as sadness washed over me. The habit I thought I had gotten over had come in. No. I didn't have a pack anymore, not for the last nine months.

Thankfully, she didn't seem to notice my change as she led me across the hallway, now climbing the stairs. Back to my reality, I turned to see a small picture, almost hidden where it hung on the wall of the stairs. The figures of the portrait passed my view before I could comprehend what it was.

As I looked forward, I noticed just how quiet the place was. The echoes of our footsteps were the only noises which could be heard.

Where was the rest of the pack?

"Sierra?" I called.

"What?" She said, turning to me.

I stopped myself from flinching, careful with the bundle in my arms.

"I'm just wondering why the pack house seems so empty… where are the other pack members?" I asked.

I had expected her to roll her eyes or not bother answering. But she scrunched her face in confusion before answering.

"Oh no. This isn't a pack house. This is the house where Leo and I live."

I didn't have any time to process it as I was taken into a room. The room seemed so big, resembling that of Connell's from my memory.

"This will be your room," Sierra announced.

I looked around. The place held the same mahogany theme, with plain beds and a crib installed.

Yet the rest of me couldn't think about installing the place as I processed what she said.

Her and Leo.

I had hoped she would place me somewhere else, likely far from her sight. I would have been relieved to be far from their sight. Especially of whoever her brother was.

If this was his house, then…

"You do not have to worry about bumping into anyone. Leo rarely comes here and I have work to do anyways."

The words brought me relief. If it was truly as she said, then there was no need to worry about encountering him.

Right?

"Why are you doing this?"

She turned back to me, piercing blue eyes and all. This was the second time I had asked her that question, but this time I wanted an answer.

"Why..."

Why bring me here of all places? I wanted to say, but I couldn't say it. Instead…

"I would have been fine in a guest house or somewhere else. I'm grateful enough for the shelter, but I still don't understand why you're bringing me here of all places especially when you hate me."

She looked at me with the same unknown gaze, one I confronted with my own. I needed answers, especially for her entire change in behaviour towards me.

Before she could answer however, a knock on the door interrupted us. I snapped my head towards the door as the knob twisted.

A deep voice resounded as the door opened an inch.

"You didn't think you could escape me, could you?"

The voice sent shivers through my bones.

Every fear flashed through my eyes as it began to reveal a figure. I looked to Sierra to find her face full of shock and...was it fear?

The moment the door fully opened we both gasped at the person we saw.

"You!" Sierra hissed.
