02 - Married

“Whatever, but you need a goddamn brush,” I breathed out.

“That would be far off in my Kingdom, but good thing we would soon be there,”

“I think what you mean is, you would soon be there, because I only woke you up to revive my parents from the dead,” I muttered.

“Then cupcake, it means we still need to go to my Kingdom cause my revival staff lies there,” He weirdly gave me another pet name, as we got outside of the cemetery but it seemed like we were at the wrong place, because I couldn’t remember seeing anything here.

And where was Julian?

“Hold on tight, sugar flake.”

He said, convincing me to get on his back.

“I have a name, weirdo.”

I gritted out, clenching my hands around his back, with Delilah in my hands.

It’s Maya…

I thought, unsure of what was going on.

“Then what is it, Maya?”

I immediately gasped in shock, screaming at the fact that he read my mind. He also just flew about 100 feet high, and landed just on his feet in agility.

“How did you know my name, you freak?!”

I yelled, panting from his sudden speed, which was out of the ordinary.

“I’m a vampire. I read minds, baby girl.”

I froze at my spot immediately, afraid, my heart thudded. I didn’t even know if I should cry. For some weird reason, Delilah kept telling me it was all safe. And he could be trusted.

“Drop me, down…psycho!”

I exclaimed loudly, wondering why I did any of what I did in the first place.

“It’s Javier, sugar flake,” he muttered. “Prince Javier Zapetero,”

The minute he completed those words, I began laughing so hard.

“Oh, lucky me! I awoke a Prince. Do I get to be his Princess?” I retorted, sarcastically.

“Actually, yes Maya.” he answered. “But you’ll be a Queen.”

I didn’t reply to that, because I didn’t feel a need too. One thing was quite clear— I was with him to awaken my parents. Nothing more…

He took another leap from mountains to mountains, with breeze swooshing at my face.

I wondered how he saw in the dark…

Julian’s face waved past my head too. He must have been waiting for me, but I knew he would be safe with Garza.

A gentler wind went past my face, making my eyes close.

At least, till I get back.

The sound of choruses and wedding bells immediately jeered me out of my sleep. I felt my legs being dropped on the floor, with someone nudging me.

“Maya, wake up.”

At first it was blurry, but I wiped my eyes only to see Javier’s dark brown eyes, mysteriously looking into mine.

Something fluffy was thrown immediately at me.

“Wear this,”

I wriggled my brows when I saw a wedding dress. It was almost like we were at the church’s corner, away from the eye of the congregation. But I was quite sure a service was being held from the noises I heard.

“W-What? A wedding dress? Why?” I seethed, staring daggers at him.

“Do you want your parents back or not?” he answered, with his pale and cold hands, creeping around my chin. I stared back at him, narrowing my eyes at his words.

“Yes, but how does that link to getting married to you?” I inhaled, asking.

“In my Kingdom, people unrelated to the vampire race are at more harm rate. With you as my wife, it will be safer,” he stated.

“Are you being serious right now? How long have you been asleep? We are in the 21st century and Kingdoms don’t exist,”

The Prince waved my words off, giving me a cold look. An emotionless frown occupied his face.

“Meet me outside,”

“And don’t keep our guests waiting,” he added with a scowl.

I watched as he elegantly walked out of the room, in a stylish attire of the 1800s or 1900s.

“Just do it, Maya. You need this!”

Delilah suddenly stated.

“Maybe you should marry him yourself.” I snorted at her.

I looked at the white wedding dress, which was on a piece of chair, laying innocently. I growled in anger, seething some words.

“You’ve got to be kidding me,”

I found myself, walking on the immaculate aisle, with a male volunteer posing in as my dad.

In a way, everything felt magical but I knew something wasn’t right. Because the congregation looked inhuman. And some part of their skin was dead looking, misplaced.

My hands, which contained the bouquet of red flowers, shook tremendously. Delilah was in the pocket of my under tights. I kept her there, knowing the amount of chaos she could cause.

“For dad,”

I told myself repeatedly, as I halted right at Javier’s side.

“For mum,”

I added, knowing I needed a reminder, as to why I was doing this so I didn’t end up freaking out.

“Miss Maya Sanchez,”

The biblical Priest called out, after I told him my name. With some sacred book in his hands, he carried on.

“Do you accept Prince Javier Vasco Zapatero, as your lawfully wedded husband?”

“In sickness and wealth, for better or for worse, in richer and poorer…”

Though, wrongly placed, those were the words I could remember.

Everything was a haze.

There were these insane voices, whispering to me, about granting my desires the minute I said the words of affirmation.

My head, clouded. Far from nine but in a whirlpool of foggy thoughts. I looked into Javier’s dark brown eyes, which held mystery in them. And for an instant, I thought I could trust him.

“I do,”

I affirmed.

Javier was also asked the same words, respectively. Next, he proclaimed us as husband and wives. I was just 18. I couldn’t believe I had gotten married to some vampire prince. How cliché.

“You may now kiss your bride,”

I felt the Javier unveil the veil that was covering my face.

Cold and wet lips on mine, with pleasurable sensations. He was soft and gentle, even though I stood there in shock. I had expected a foul smell, but thankfully his lips held a minty breath.

He must have done something about that, while I was changing.

Suddenly, he pulled back, withdrawing. Then his cold hands which were around my chin, made me look into his eyes. Javier looked like he was battling with himself, but I couldn’t understand why.

“I’m sorry, Maya. I won’t hurt you again, I promise,”

He let out, and my brows wriggled at what he meant. Until I saw fangs glaring at me, from his mouth.

“No, no, no…!”

I screamed loudly, when I felt a stinging sensation on my neck. The pain, so unbearable that I passed out.
