15. Self-hurt

Mia:

The soft rays of sunlight streaming into the room reminded me I’d been lying in bed for a long time and it was time for me to get up and start my day. But the will to do the needful was lost. A yawn escaped my lips and I stretched my limbs, making the comforter that had been covering my barely clothed body to roll down. My gaze swept the room before returning to thoughts of Giovanni for the umpteeth time that morning. 

All night, thoughts of the man had deprived me of sleep with my body yearning for him. The moment I closed my eyes to sleep, I fell into a dream that could as well have been a nightmare. I dreamt he was killed by the masked man and when I woke up to realise it was a dream, I’d been scared to go back to sleep, fearing my dream would come to pass the minute I slept off.
