“What will you do in case your plan works and Arthur takes over after some time?”
She turned away from him enjoying the hot water on her chest. He knew she was going to answer him but needed time.
“I am going to live in different countries. It is egoistical of me but I have been saving to fund years of living in a village in France, Venice, our ancestral country Armenia. I want to make sure to eat sushi at Jiro Ono’s restaurant before he passes away, ride an elephant in India and a camel in Sahara. I will eat all the pho possible in Vietnam, and blood sausage in Germany. Once I am exhausted of traveling, I will choose a quiet village in Europe and read books for months. When solitude becomes too depressing, I will move to a bustling city and start a career as a Software Developer. Towards the end of my life, I want to be a professor, so I will get a PhD and be an old lady walking on campus complainin
Thank you for reading. Please leave me a gem, it would mean a lot. I also love reading your thoughts and reactions.
“So, it seems he always stops by that cabin on their territory either on his way to his travels or on the way back. He spends a day, sometimes a few, pretty much drinking alone or with his buddies. He has done it three times now,” Arsen was reporting still standing up. Karineh was in the room too since she was the one to track Andre’s phone although it wasn’t much use since he left it at home or in the cabin often. “Good,” said Damien pouring himself a glass of cognac and tilting the bottle towards both of them in a silent offer. Karineh scrunched up her nose like a kid making Damien smile. Arsen was just not relaxing. “No, we should get going. Ellen should be there soon.” He glared at Damien’s glass wishing it to evaporate. Karineh followed his figure with her eyes from behind looking more like a lost beaten puppy than before. Less than an hour later both men were walking into Ada’s house with Damien wondering how he got sucked into t
“We are driving to a business meeting at a tea house and you won’t tell me who we are meeting and what about?” Arsen repeated letting Damien know he didn’t trust this situation and was annoyed with his friend. His Alpha or not, they grew up together and Damien wasn’t an Alpha heir so they never cared for ranks, so he owed him some damn transparency instead of dragging him wherever he felt like. Another ten more minutes of driving and Damien parked on a narrow street with one of the oldest tea-houses on neutral territory. It was owned by a she-wolf with attitude of a viper but ability of discreetness. Once they walked into the little softly lit space with wooden tables and chairs everywhere, the owner herself greeted them and lead to one of the private rooms. The wooden frame with white paper instead of glass door was slid open to reveal a small female sitting by the table with a steaming teapot and a plate of crepes in front of her. “Ellen?!” Arsen growled at her onc
It had been weeks since their dinner party. Ada’s life was in a comfortable routine: keep an eye on Arsen and Ellen, train and have sex with Damien. Arthur was avoiding her and she suspected he was doing something she wouldn’t approve of. Her grandparents lived their life of avoidance spending a lot of time at the summer house. Her grandmother had been slowly delegating Luna responsibilities to various females in the family and clan, including Ada.Damien was merciless in his trainings. And only when his advances and blows were tolerable, did she know he wanted her that night, that the beast would work hard at putting a claim to her refusing to understand that the bond, that sacred string between them, was broken and he couldn’t reach the beast inside her. They both knew their physical intimacy was confusing the part of their soul that was wolfish. Her body became as conditioned as Pavlov’s dog. As soon as she could detect him being more cautiou
“Why do you want to tie yourself to our clan instead of any other?” Ada asked. “I have been in the area for months. There were a few ‘job openings’ at clans or smaller packs that didn’t have support of a witch, but after observing you and your clan I approached Vedma. She doesn’t mind retiring slightly earlier than planned, I also didn’t mind waiting a few years if she wanted to stay.” Ada remained silent. Flanna smiled knowing that she was waiting for an answer to her question. “I do not seek a traditional alliance between an Alpha and a witch that does whatever Alpha says. You don’t seem like a traditional Alpha. Rogue rehabilitation center is a credit to you. From some I have learnt about you we could work together to bring improvement and not suffocate each other in the process.” “I am neither the Alpha, not the heir,” Ada pointed out. “No, but you will win the Alpha challenge and I pl
Damien was looking at his Beta suspiciously. Him and Ellen had been acting like this mission to get wolfsbane into Andre’s cabin vodka was a fucking date. It had taken her slightly longer to get the scent masking products than normal, due to yearly shutdown of the production to clean out the systems. During this time Ada had given orders to organize the inventory, count everything, arrange chronologically and stack in a new corner of the warehouse. This was a new practice but Ellen wasn’t surprised to see her cousin bring order to anything she touched. She had volunteered to oversee the counting and organizing of boxes and had taken an entire box that consisted of 24 vials. That evening Ellen met Damien and Arsen in Arsen’s office. Since they couldn’t ask Ada to cover for her absence, she had to confide in her other cousin Anie, telling her everything about Arsen and saying she was going to spend the evening with him on a date. Technically it wasn’t a lie. Ellen’s pa
Damien was looking at his phone sitting in a meeting regarding him choosing a Luna as soon as possible. The powerful families of the clan kept insisting. Modernization of their lifestyles made the wellbeing of the clan members dependent on how they ran businesses, acquired and maintained lands, and made alliances with other clans for resources. However, certain things remained routed in their origins. Having a powerful Luna completing the Alpha and connecting him to the rest of the clan was one of them. Damien knew all this and logically agreed with it too but these meetings were starting to seem like background noise. Neighboring Alphas seemed pathetic trying to sell their beautiful young, sometimes too young, daughters to the scary beast for a piece of power, an alliance to feel safe, or financial stability. He chuckled to himself thinking he was the beast from Beauty and the Beast. Or one of the human kings in Ada’s historical fiction books. He read the message on
Flanna was weaving flower crowns in her indoor garden when she heard the doorbell. She sang her way to the front door and pulled it open to find no one. An unpleasant feeling crept up her throat until she noticed a glass of water sitting on her doorstep. She smiled inwardly knowing it could be from few people in this city. “A message” she thought excitedly. Whether it was good or bad news she was excited to play with trying to unfold the message hidden in the water. She took it inside barely containing her anticipation. As soon as she was sitting down two of her fingers were submerged into the cold liquid, and eyes fluttered shut in pleasure. A scene materialized behind her eyelids. Damien was sitting in an office chair behind a modern large desk stirring water in the same glass she was holding. Arsen sat across from him in a comfortable armchair with a glass of some golden liquid. “Let’s test this. Flanna, we have a deal.” Damien’s voice echoed in her head.
The dinner was relaxed and pleasant. There was an aura of content.“Are you going to Almanac alumni party?” Arsen asked Ada.She made a face and Ellen chuckled.“I am guessing if I don’t, Izolda Mikhailovna will personally drag me there. I am supposed to network with the new graduates and offer internships,” she answered.“Ada networking, huh, that will be something to see,” Ellen laughed. Arsen gave her a questioning look. “She is the most antisocial person I have ever met. She hates small talk. Ah, damnit, I am the only one here not invited. Fine, I will be next year.”Ada thought for a second but decided it was safe to tell this group of people.“Emma will be there. The party is on neutral grounds and any alumni can attend. Izolda will tear anyone apart who tries to discriminate or bully other members.”“We are providing ten guards. Arsen, tell Vahag to send te
