Jay stood frozen for several seconds.

His face had become so red that even the veins along his forehead were beginning to show. He had been rejected before. Twice, in fact.

But those two times had happened privately.

This time was completely different!

Imogen had humiliated him in front of her father, Maxwell Sterling, and Maxwell’s assistant. Worse, she had spoken as though Jay Harcourt was some disgusting stranger she wanted nothing to do with.

How could Jay possibly swallow such humiliation?

Maxwell, Natasha and the lawyer left the courtroom not long after. The heavy oak doors of the courtroom swung shut behind them, cutting off the noise of packing briefcases and murmuring spectators.Maxwell walked down the wide corridor with casual steps, his jacket unbuttoned. Beside him, Natasha walked with hurried strides, holding a thick leather folder against her side. Her face was flushed with anger, and she could no longer hold back what she had witnessed inside that room."That was not a normal hearing Max," Natasha said, her voice filled with disbelief. "It was shocking. From the very second that judge took the bench, she had already decided she was going to rule against us and hand the Harcourts everything they wanted!"Maxwell listened to her and didn't comment on it yet. But wasn't that the plain truth? Anyone with eyes could see what had just happened!"Look at how she handled the arguments," Natasha continued, counting the blatant contradictions on her fingers. "The mome

“Your Honor, no orders have been transferred,” Sterling’s lawyer insisted, his voice rising. “No production has begun under the proposal. Those explicit conditions are written directly into the document filed with our response.”The Judge raised a hand, gesturing for the lawyer to stop talking, “You don't need to educate me on this. I have read your submission, counsel.”The Sterling's lawyer kept his finger pinned to the paragraph.“Then I ask the court to distinguish between discussing a possible agreement and carrying one out.”“The purpose of today’s application is to prevent the damage before it occurs,” the judge replied authoritatively. At the opposite table, Edmund settled back into his chair. Seeing how the judge wasn't making it easy on Maxwell and the Sterling lawyers allowed him to relax completely.Maxwell noticed every detail. And he couldn't help feeling a little annoyed at how the judge was handling this case.To make matters worse, the confidence coming from both Edmun

The Harcourts’ lawyer remained standing at the center podium. He collected his documents, his tone suddenly changing tone with theatrical urgency.“Your Honor, we also ask this court to consider an emergency statement regarding events that unfolded at Bell Precision this very morning!”Across the aisle, Jay straightened up in his seat, his eyes burning with vicious excitement. This was it! The explosive intelligence he had brought back from the factory floor was finally going to be used to smash Maxwell Sterling into the dirt. ‘You lose, I win, Sterling,’ Jay thought to himself, a cruel sneer spreading behind his teeth.Even before the judge could announce a formal decision from the bench, Jay was already celebrating the taste of total victory in his heart! How could he not celebrate? In less than twenty-four hours, Maxwell had dragged the Harcourt name through the mud! That bastard had ordered security guards to throw Jay out of the Sterling lobby, exposed their confidential Zenith

An older man walked slowly down the center aisle. His suit was immaculate, his expression was completely cold, and his steps carried the undeniable weight of absolute authority. It was Edmund Harcourt. The patriarch who had controlled the Harcourt Group for nearly twenty years had personally arrived for the one o'clock hearing.Jay and Dominic immediately stood up out of respect as their uncle approached the table.Edmund showed none of his nephew’s agitation. He carried himself with the confidence of a man who expected the hearing to go in his favour. He placed a hand on the chair beside Jay, then stopped. His no nonsense and calculating eyes settled on Maxwell across the aisle.Instead of sitting down, Edmund released the chair and walked towards the table. When he reached Maxwell, his expression changed. He adopted a composed, civilised demeanor, acting as though they were old friends meeting at a social club.“Good afternoon, Mr. Sterling,” Edmund said smoothly.Maxwell was in conv

Maxwell could remain silent if he wanted. That would hardly make the questions disappear. People watching the news would see him walking past the microphones while the accusations went unanswered.Would they believe he had everything under control?Or would they wonder whether the Harcourts were right?Jay glanced at Dominic. His cousin was watching Maxwell too. When their eyes met, Dominic gave him a faint, knowing smile.Jay stepped away from their lawyer, and Dominic followed. He had no intention of allowing Maxwell to walk quietly into the courthouse. After everything that had happened, how could he pass up the chance to confront him in front of this many cameras?Several reporters noticed the cousins approaching. “Mr. Harcourt!”Jay ignored the call. His attention remained fixed on Maxwell as the reporters shifted to give them room.Their interest immediately grew. They had been struggling to obtain a single answer from Maxwell. Now the Harcourts were coming over to speak to him

Several heads turned towards the car.Jay was still answering a question, one hand raised and a satisfied smile on his face.He was enjoying the interview far more than he had expected. Every time he finished speaking, another reporter wanted his opinion. They addressed him respectfully and brought their microphones closer whenever he had something to say.One of them had even told him they were broadcasting live.Live!People were watching him on television at that very moment. His face was on their screens as he spoke on behalf of the Harcourt family!Since learning that, Jay had made sure to face that particular camera. He had straightened his jacket and taken care to look composed whenever he answered. This was the kind of attention someone of his status deserved! Now, noticing that several reporters were looking elsewhere, he frowned. He had not finished speaking! Was Maxwell’s arrival really so important that they couldn’t listen to the rest of his answer? Jay continued speaki
