Chapter 7

Louisa's POV

As a gigantic needle slowly penetrated into my spine, I had to bite my hand to stop myself from crying out.

I lifted my head and saw Jessica standing in front of me, sneering at me.

"How does it feel, bitch?" She leaned forward and asked. "I told you that you would pay for it."

"Fuck... you..." I squeezed those words out of my mouth.

"Ah, that's rude." Jessica rolled her eyes.

The door opened and Lucas walked in.

"Oh, Luke! It's so good to have you here!" Jessica flapped her hand as if she was about to faint.

Then, she looked panicked and leaned into Lucas' arms.

"I can't stand this. You know that I'm afraid of blood!" She peeked through her fingers and exclaimed in a nasal voice.

"Take your seat outside, Jess." Lucas comforted her in a gentle voice.

After Jessica left, Lucas approached me.

I thought he would lean forward to comfort me, but he didn't even look at me.

Instead, he stared at the doctor and asked, "Have you finished, Dr. Jafar?"

"Almost done, Mr. Farrow." Dr. Jafar, Lucas' personal physician, replied.

It was so painful. I grabbed the nearest thing next to my hand. I had to bury my head into the pillow, so Lucas wouldn't see me crying.

As the doctor finished the procedure, I looked up to take a deep breath.

Then, I found out that I was actually grabbing Lucas' arm in my hand.

As I withdrew my hand, I saw the red marks left by my fingers on his arms.

Lucas didn't seem to notice them at all and chatted with the doctor about the procedure.

Was he trying to offer me comfort? I thought to myself.

"She's tough," I overheard Dr. Jafar's voice. "I had never seen anyone who could go through this pain without making a noise."

Lucas ignored his comments and said, "Make sure that she's well taken care of. I don't want anything to jeopardize Jessica's recovery process."

Jessica. The only thing he cared about was his Jessica.

I clenched my fists.

Lucas left.

Looking at his back, I bit my lips.

"You can lie down here as long as you want, Miss," Dr. Jafar walked toward me and said in a soothing voice.

I grabbed a surgical knife from the table and pressed it against Dr. Jafar's neck.

"Don't make a sound," I said in a low voice.

Dr. Jafar panicked and raised both of his arms in the air.

I kicked the door closed, locked it up, and switched off the light.

My back was still stiff and sour, but it didn't stop me from making my threat.

"I'm going to ask you questions. If you dare to lie to me, I'll cut off your dick." I pointed the knife between Dr. Jafar's crotch.

Dr. Jafar nodded his head in a panic.

"Tell me everything about Jessica Hutchinson's condition," I urged.

Dr. Jafar swallowed the lump in his throat and said, "Miss, I've signed the confidentiality paperwork. I can't disclose anything about Miss Hutchinson's condition due to its sensitive nature..."

I pressed the knife against his dick.

Dr. Jafar totally freaked out and yielded -

"Don't... Don't do it, Miss! I'll tell you everything! There's nothing wrong with Miss Hutchinson! She's just using it as an excuse to get Mr. Farrow's attention!"

I knew it!

That fucking bitch is lying!

How twisted her mind is to come up with a fucking idea like this at my expense?!

I really wished I could run out of this room and stab the knife into that bitch's stomach.

I wanted to watch her suffering in a pool of blood while her stomach acid slowly consumed her fucking internal organ.

But I had a better plan.

I took out my mobile phone and switched on the video camera.

"Tell me everything about Jessica Hutchinson's condition again, Doctor," I said in a cold voice.

-

Five days later, Mrs. Farrow showed up in my bedroom with a dark look on her face.

"Get out of bed, you stupid sluggish girl! It's about the right time! Lucas is going to hold a party at our mansion. You have to prepare for it. Now go downstairs. Scrape, wipe, and sweep everything. I'm going out for my beauty routine. When I come back, I don't want to see a single dust in this entire place!"

Then, she left with her nose poking at the ceiling.

As I was about to go downstairs, I saw Jessica walking up with a garment bag in her hands.

"Aha, you're here. I'm looking for you," she said and pushed that garment bag into my hands. "This is for you."

I looked into the bag and saw a beautiful satin dress embroidered with delicate handmade laces.

"Do you want me to iron it for you, Miss Hutchinson?" I asked.

"No. This is for you." Jessica displayed a sincere smile on her face.

"For me?" I frowned.

"Yeah. Lucas is throwing a party tonight. As his wife and hostess, you should have some decent clothes to wear." Jessica held my hands in hers with passion and expectation in her eyes. "I've been thinking all these days and finally I made up my mind to have a truce with you. We both love Lucas and want to see the best of him. So why don't we put our differences aside and be friends? We can even be sisters! Don't you want to have a sister in your life?"

What's this? A Greek gift or something? A few days ago, she was trying to take away my marrow. And now, all of a sudden, she wants to hold my hands and sing kumbaya?

Jessica must have noticed the suspicion on my face.

She looked demotivated and mumbled, "Of course, if you don't want to trust me, it's totally understandable. After all, I was too mean to you... It's my fault. I can't expect you to be a saint and forgive me. Obviously, this doesn't work..."

She turned back and was about to walk away.

I lowered my head and stared at the beautiful dress.

Lucas might be impressed when he sees a brand-new me. I thought to myself. And I'll see what Jessica is scheming.
