Louisa's POV

The police car stopped and I found myself at the airport.

Darren was waiting for me in front of his private jet.

He was wearing a sling.

My heart was throbbing.

He was injured when that assassin tried to shoot me.

He didn't have any weapon and his first instinct was to protect me with his own body.

I jumped out of the car and ran toward him, crying all the way.

Darren held me in his arms and said, "I'm so sorry, Miss Torrington. I didn't mean to put you into such inconvenience. But it seemed that Lucas had sent out more than one group of people. I had to temporarily let you stay with the police officers."

"Does it hurt?" I leaned against his chest, trying to touch his arm to check his wound, but immediately withdrew my hands.

Tears fell down my cheeks like two running rivers.

"I'm fine, Miss Torrington. It doesn't look as bad as it seems. Now we really have to get on the flight. For your safety, I need to take you back as soon as possible," Darren said.
