Mary, Jake's mother, had gone berserk after receiving his son's severed head. The whole forest heard her shrieking agony. They sent all the children back to their respective homes. And every adult of the pack gathered in the cottage.

Mary's sister took her to one of the cottages, separate from her son's mutilated head. They could still hear her crying. Matt took Jake's head inside the main cottage. They wanted to give her a proper burial, but not without the body.
