Amelia
“Damn it.” I muttered under my breath, rubbing the back of my palm that had collided with the iron bars. That was exactly what I was talking about. It was as if I had a curse, a curse of clumsiness that always landed me in trouble.“Dear God help me.” I muttered under my breath again. The last thing I wanted was for another interview to go horribly wrong because I couldn’t get my act together. I’d been leeching off mom for far too long already; it was time I helped her out.I soon got down from that bus and got on the second one. To get to Vee theatre — the place the interview was being held — I had to take three buses all the way from home.I just had to pray I got the job, then I’d dedicate my first paycheck to getting a car… a car and contact lenses. After about an hour later, I stepped down from the third bus, staring at the tall building in front of me. It was bigger that it looked in the pictures. Bigger and more majestic.Oops! Did I forget to mention that I wasn’t there for a movie role but for a job as a personal assistant? Yeah, that’s right. I didn’t have a single bone of acting talent in me, being an assistant was all I knew how to do.I checked my wristwatch for the last time. I was already an hour and thirty minutes late. My chances of getting the job became even slimmer.“Might as well just get it over with.” I said to myself and walked into the theatre which was strangely quiet; too quiet for my liking. The door made a little creak as I pushed it open. The main area was empty; not a single person in sight. I was hoping I got the timing wrong and the interview was being held later in the day, which would explain why no one was there yet.Just before I could complete that thought, I heard a man's voice behind me."Are you here for the interview?" He asked.I quickly spun around to meet his gaze. His grey eyes told of exhaustion and annoyance."Y-yes." I stuttered and a frown appeared on his face. His eyes swept over me, from my head to my toes; his frown didn't leave his face."Go over to the back. The interview is about to start." He said, nodding at a door behind him. It looked like it led to the back of the stage.I was going to thank him, grateful that it hadn't started yet. But then he just walked off angrily. Why? I didn't do anything wrong to him, did I?I pouted, watched him as he disappeared through a different door. He didn't look bad at all. I liked his eyes, but his face, his build, his voice, they were all appealing. He gave off the vibes of someone who was really gentle and caring if you're lucky enough to get close to them.I turned away and went in through the door he told me to. It really led backstage. When I got there, I looked around, searching for others. There was another door at the far corner, a half-open door. I could see a few women seated inside the room. That had to be it.I stepped into the room and there were only ladies in there, but I immediately fell out of place staring at them.No one even looked in my direction. They were either busy with either fixing up their make-up or chatting amongst themselves.Did they all know each other? It had to be, because it looked like I was the only one who didn't get the dress code. I was wearing my usual interview outfit, black slacks, a white shirt and black shoes. But everyone else in that room was dressed like they were there for a runway show; bodycon dresses and really high heels. It was even more convincing with how much they were bothered about their make-up.I had to ask to make sure.I searched the room for someone approachable. I found a basic-looking lady, who was seated, staring at her reflecting in a hand mirror she held up; her jaw moved rhythmically, making me guess she was chewing gum.Quietly, I approached her. I was nervous about doing that, but I just had to make sure I was in the right place."Hi!" I greeted, trying for my brightest smile. Her eyes shifted from the mirror, to my face, it trailed up to my hair and then down my body; a sneer was stuck to her plain face."This is for the PA position, not for cleaners." She said, wrinkling her nose as if she was disgusted.By what? And what the hell was that statement supposed to mean?"Move." I heard and was pushed to the side from behind.A pretty but vain looking lady stood next to plain lady, she didn't even bother to apologize for pushing me aside. She was dressed like the other women, just fancier and with a strong air of confidence. Your typical Queen Bee."You're late, Sophia." The plain looking lady said to Queen Bee. So, her name was Sophia? Nah, Queen Bee suited her better."Fashionably late." Queen Bee replied. She waved her hand over her body. "Looking this good takes time, my friend."Plain lady was about to say something but then we heard a voice through the speakers."The interview starts now. If you hear your name, please head to the room across the hall." The voice said. "We'll start with Sophia Grace."Of course she gets called first. I wasn't the least bit surprised. With a sway on her hips, a spring in her steps and shoulders that seemed to want to touch the ceiling, she walked towards the room opposite the one we were in.The ladies were called one after the other and I was getting nervous by the minute."Amelia Rave." I heard the speakers and got up. My hands were sweaty. Everyone that went in returned with confidence that I have very little hope of getting the job.I got to the door and stood with my shaky hands paused at the doorknob.Did I stand a chance?"You've got this, Amy." I whispered to myself and took a deep breath before pushing open the door, coming face to face with the interviewers. There were three of them, two men — one of which was the good-looking man that met me at the lobby — and a lady. They sat in chairs behind a long table that resembled one suitable for a conference meeting; lady sat in-between them. There was another single chair on the other side of the table, facing them.I was assuming that was the one meant for me.I tried for a smile as I went closer to the single chair, not touching it. Not one of them returned my smile, their expressions were blank and professional."Amelia Rave?" The lady asked in a deep British accent. I nodded, still not letting go of my smile. The lady gestured for me to sit on the chair and I did."Can I see you CV?" She asked, opening her hand to me.I quickly dived into my tote bag for the big brown envelope that held all my important documents. I took out my CV and gave it to the la
AmeliaI was still preoccupied, massaging my butt which I had landed on, while trying to endure the pain I felt, when someone yelled at me."What the fuck is wrong with you?!" The male voice asked, irritation in his tone.I raised my head slowly to look at him, expecting to see one of the interviewers, but he was someone different. He had that athletic build, you know, the kind that makes you take a second glance. His jaw was set, and those deep green eyes, glared at me with frustration. The suit he wore clung to him, outlining his toned body. His slick black hair, was perfectly styled, but a little tousled around his forehead as he was sweaty. Too sweaty, the sweat literally dripped down from his face to his clothes. It felt like witnessing a handsome storm, both captivating and unsettling. He was very sexy."Stop staring at me like that." He yelled again. Okay, he might be a nutjob, 'cause I didn't understand why he would be screaming at me instead of helping me off the floor."Tch
RowanI was bored and wanted to be anywhere but the theatre, interviewing a bunch of crazy fan girls.Yeah, William said he wouldn't reveal who the employer was until I was ready to pick someone, but yet, it was Vee Theatre, they knew it was only the best of the best movie stars that would be holding interviews.I would have easily had William handle the interview himself and pick the most qualified person, but he reminded me that I also selected my employees based on looks. Which was absolutely correct. I was stunning, I wanted only beautiful people around me. So, I had to select someone myself.Ralph was waiting for me at the theatre, so even though I didn't have to be there until William texted me that it was time to make a choice, I had to be at the theatre early.I got to the theatre and was making my way to my luxury suite where Ralph was waiting, while I was on my phone texting my girlfriend, Raven.I was just passing the main stage, pretty sure my path was clear when all of a s
Amelia"Yes, you."My heart did a somersault in my chest. Was he really talking to me? His eyes were focused on me and he had on a sly smile. No, it had to be someone else.I turned to look behind me, everyone's eyes were focused on me."Hey, blondie." He called and I froze. "You in the shirt." Now I was sure he was talking to me.I slowly looked back at him. What did he want? To make fun of me for pouring water on a celebrity? To make fun of my clothes? What?!"Come here." He ordered.I frowned. I was not his slave, he had no right commanding me like one.I didn't move.Someone pushed me from behind and I went stumbling to his feet and would have fallen flat on my face, but someone caught me, breaking my fall.I looked up, expecting to see Rowan, but it was the good looking interviewer. He was frowning slightly. I wondered if he ever smiled."You can stand on your own, can't you?" He asked with that look of disgust again. Why? Because he was touching me? Was I covered in filth or som
RowanI wasn't wrong about the dumb part. She knew I was talking to her. I mean, I was looking directly at her, but she chose to search behind her instead. And then she just tripped over her own foot and nearly fell on her face. She wasn't just dumb, she was a weirdo.I was rethinking agreeing to fuck her, she was not so appealing anymore. It would have been okay if she was just a poor girl with good looks. But if the lights were off upstairs, it'd just be so wrong to touch her. But, I wasn't about to lose that bet. It was just a one time thing, anyway. When I asked for her name, she replied with such a cold glare. I was intimidated for a second. Damn! She had a killer glare. It was almost like her hazel eyes lit up dangerously when narrowed.I hid it well though, and told William to get her ready before walking away. It was only when I was back in the luxury suite that I let out a breath I didn't know I had been holding."What's up? Are we good to go?" I looked at Ralph at his positio
AmeliaI thought I was done for. I thought Rowan would scream my head off, and fire me on the spot. But he just left me there with the elderly fashionable woman and William. The woman made me sit in front of the dressing table while she picked up different makeup kits and set them on the table in front of me."I haven't seen a blonde with such pretty hazel eyes before. They are usually blue or grey or green." She said as she cleaned my face with wipes. "Who do you look like?""You mean between my parents?" I asked. It was a little hard to follow what she said because of her accent."Yeah.""My mom. She has blue eyes though." "Ah, then you got your eyes from you dad? He must be very handsome."I smiled awkwardly, not sure what to say to that."Keep a straight face, you'll ruin my work if you move too much." She said and I swallowed.I wasn't really a fan of makeup. The two other times I had worn makeup was at prom and at college graduation. Mom practically forced me to sit through the
Rowan"Listen up." I said to her from the backseat. "I'm meeting with my manager, we have something important to discuss. All I need from you is to jot down our conversation. Got that?""Everything?!" She asked, turning in her seat to look at me. "You mean record your entire conversation? Isn't that a job for a secretary?""Well, congratulations. You're now my personal assistant. You get to be my secretary, my cook, my nanny, my maid... Basically, whatever I say you are."The look of horror on her face was so satisfying. I smirked.I waited for her to protest or quit, but she quietly turned to face her front.Good. At least she was being obedient."We haven't properly gone over the details of this job." I heard her say. "I have my conditions for working for you, and...""And what conditions are they?" I asked. "You know what? Forget it. I'll have William give you a contract with all the details. That is, if you can actually manage to handle your first task properly."No words passed be
AmeliaI barely caught the last bus heading home. I just couldn't believe that ungrateful jerk. I was so pissed, I kept fuming all the way home. What gave him the right to yell at me? He couldn't even ask first? So what if I worked for him? That didn't make me his slave that he could shout at anywhere and anytime he wanted. What was that he said again? That as long as I was working for him, I would be whatever he asked me to?I may need a job but that didn't mean I had to lose my dignity. Even as his employee, he had to treat me with respect. Maybe he was used to treating others however he wanted, but not me. If I made a decision to work for him, then I'd have to make him understand that I was nothing like others.I wanted to quit, I wanted to quit right there! I already stormed off, clearly he wouldn't send me the contract anymore. Not after how I walked away.Well, good riddance to bad rubbish.I could apply for a job somewhere else. Who cares if it might take another two years to ge
