Chapter Seven: His Personal Assistant

Jasmine looked at the handsome devil in front of her wondering what evil plan was brewing in his head.

Such a shame that such a handsome face had a dark soul. Well the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. His father was just like him, handsome but a devil.

“Alright then Miss Baxter,” Justin said, bringing Jasmine out of her thoughts. “Pack your stuff from your desk. You no longer work there.”

“What?!” Jasmine exclaimed in horror. She thought Justin had forgiven her so why the hell was he still firing her?! Was he also a sadist?

Justin remained calm in front of Jasmine although he was really enjoying her terrified expression. It was like a soothing massage to his soul.

He normally wouldn’t have done this as a way of getting revenge. He would have simply either tortured the person to death or he would have made their life a living hell but it was different with Jasmine.

He was going to drive her to her breaking point by annoying her everyday and it was going to be fun.

“You are no longer working in the Logistics department,” he said.

Jasmine wiped away the bead of sweat on her forehead. “B-but I-i thought you h-had forgiven me,” she said in a whisper, her voice revealing how scared she felt.

Justin scratched his forehead and feigned deep thought. “When did I say that? Did I ever say that?” he asked

Jasmine clenched her fists in anger. It was obvious he was now playing with her. ‘Damn this bastard!’ she cursed inwardly, not daring to say it aloud.

“I-i t-thought…” Jasmine was unable to say anything. He was right. He never said that she was forgiven. “Please sir, don’t fire me,” she pleaded for the umpteenth time.

“Who said I was firing you?” Justin asked.

Jasmine was utterly confused at this point. What the hell was Justin saying? He told her that she wasn’t going to be working in her department anymore and now, he said that he wasn’t firing her.

“Sir, I’m confused,” she voiced out.

‘What an idiot!’ Justin muttered to himself but he made sure his voice was loud enough so she could hear him.

If not for the fact that she really needed this job, then she wouldn’t have hesitated to put Justin in his place.

“I asked you to pack your things from your desk because you’re being transferred from that department,” Justin explained.

“To which department?” Jasmine asked.

“To being my Personal Assistant,” Justin answered. He watched how the color drained from Jasmine’s face and he felt immense satisfaction.

“Your personal assistant?” Jasmine asked, wanting to be sure she didn’t hear wrong. And to her horror, Justin nodded in affirmation.

The hell?! She couldn’t even stay around him for five minutes without having the urge to kill him. How the hell was she going to survive being around him all the time.

“Do you have a problem with being my personal assistant?” Justin taunted, clearly enjoying Jasmine’s misery.

“Well sir, I think they are much more qualified employees who would fit the role of being for personal assistant than me,” Jasmine said, hoping that Justin would rethink his decision.

“You’re right, there are much more qualified employees,” he agreed. Jasmine heaved a sigh of relief thinking that everything was fine; however, Justin’s next words proved her wrong.

“However, I want you to be my PA and if you refuse, you can kiss your job as well as your house goodbye,” he said coldly as he walked past her and opened the door.

He turned and looked at her with a grin on his face. “Oh and I noticed that your mother owes a foundation a large sum of money. I’m guessing it’s what she used in sending you to school. One word from me and that foundation will come down hard on you.”

Jasmine looked at Justin in disbelief. He had investigated her and he had found out everything about her including about her family. He had a million things he could use in bringing her down.

She had no choice but to compromise for her mother’s sake. After all, her mother had done the same for her in the past without a second thought.

“I accept to be your personal assistant sir,” she said as she looked into the devil’s eyes.

“Very well then,” Justin said. “Pack your things and move them to your new desk and it must be done in ten minutes.”

“Ten minutes?” Jasmine repeated. Her office no former office was on the tenth floor and Justin’s was on the thirtieth. How the hell was she going to finish packing all her stuff within ten minutes.

“Why? Is it too much for you?” Justin asked.

Jasmine, who knew that he was doing all this to annoy her, simply smiled and said, “I’ll go get my stuff.”

“Good. If you are not back in ten minutes, then you can kiss your job goodbye,” Justin said and returned back to his seat.

Jasmine ran out of the office and into the elevator. She had a lot of things to move in very little time. This meant that she would have to carry everything all at once.

The elevator door opened and Jasmine ran all the way to her desk. When she reached there, the other employees quickly surrounded her, itching to know how her meeting with Justin had gone.

“I heard the CEO fired all the employees who were not present at the time he was doing his check on their department,” a former colleague of hers said to which the rest of them gasped.

Their gasps increased when they saw Jasmine suddenly clearing her table. That meant that she had also been fired.

Jasmine, who was focused on packing her stuff, didn't notice the pitiful stares she was getting. She managed to pack the important things she would need. She decided to come for the rest later.

Looking at her watch, she saw she had less than five minutes to get back to Justin.

Without sparing a glance at her former colleagues, she rushed out of there and headed back to Justin’s office, ignoring the questioning looks of the employee she passed by.

Justin was busy signing some documents when his office door bursted wide open and Jasmine came running through.

“I’m here,” she said and paused so she could gasp for air.

Justin looked at his watch and saw that she was ten seconds late. “You’re ten seconds late, Miss Baxter,” he told her.

“Well sir, you said I had to move into my new office in ten minutes which I did in due time,” Jasmine stated. “Getting here from there took me ten seconds.”

Justin couldn’t help but smile at her statement. “Very well Miss Baxter, you managed to escape getting fired today but mind you, the next time you barge into my office like that without knocking will be your last,” he threatened.

“I’m sorry sir,” Jasmine apologized.

Justin took a folder which was on his table and stretched it toward her. “This contains my meetings for the month and also a list of instructions which you are to strictly follow. If you break any one of them, then…”

“I can say goodbye to my job and house,” Jasmine stated, completing Justin’s words for him. He had clearly made it clear that he had the upper hand.

There was no need to repeat every two seconds that she would lose her job and house if she didn’t please him.

“Good, now get to work!” Justin ordered sharply.

Jasmine took the folder and went back to her desk. She immediately started studying the folder but she found herself losing concentration over and over again.

She blamed the stupid glass wall from which Justin could see her from. How would she be able to concentrate if he was going to be looking at her?

He suddenly looked up from the files he was reading and their eyes met. Jasmine quickly looked away and tried to focus on the folder he had given to her.

Her intercom rang and she received it.

"Get over here!" A familiar voice commanded. She didn't need anyone to tell her that it was Justin who had just called.

She sighed and mentally prepared herself before going to meet Justin. She knocked on the door and went in after he gave her permission to do so.

"Sir, you called for me?" Jasmine said as she walked closer to Justin’s desk.

Justin who was looking down at his tablet on the desk didn’t respond to her neither did he acknowledge her presence. He simply continued to read whatever was on his tablet.

Jasmine clenched her fists and heaved a sigh, trying to get herself to calm down. Her life depended on this job and she couldn’t afford to get him angry.

“Sir, you called for me,” she repeated as she waited for his response.

Justin ignored her like the previous time. He continued reading on the tablet and she was forced to wait till he was ready to speak to her.

After a gruesome ten minutes, Justin finally looked up from the tablet and put it aside. Jasmine’s legs were aching by then as she had been standing in heels.

“Do I have any meetings?” he asked.

Jasmine had to control herself from lunging at Justin and strangling his throat. He could have asked her this instead of making her wait for so long.

Plus, he had just hired her as his assistant which meant that he knew his own schedule.

As annoyed as she was, she couldn’t say it out loud. So, she controlled her emotions and answered; “Yes sir, you have a meeting with the foreign investors at three.”

Justin did not say anything. He merely looked at her and started working on his laptop.

“Sir, can I go now?” Jasmine asked as she was not ready to spend another minute in his office.

“No you cannot,” Justin answered her. And just as he did, there was a knock on his door. “Open it,” he ordered her, without taking his eyes off the laptop.

Jasmine cursed under her breath as she went to open the door. She saw a man holding a trolley full of files. Some of them seemed really old. She wondered why the man brought them.

The man didn’t give any attention to Jasmine. He simply pushed the trolley into the room. “Sir, I brought the files you asked for,” he informed.

“Leave the trolley there,” Justin ordered. The man did as Justin ordered and then left his office. Justin finally got up from his seat and he approached Jasmine who was staring at the trolley in confusion.

“You’ve been working here for how long?” Justin asked.

“Twenty months,” Jasmine answered, wondering where the discussion was heading.

“Hmm. These files are the reports of the last two years. I wasn’t here for the last two years and so, I don’t know what happened in the company,” Justin started and paused to give Jasmine room to understand what he had just said.

“These files contain everything I need to know. Go through all of them and give me a report by tomorrow morning before eight thirty.”

It took a moment for Jasmine to understand what Justin had just told her to do. Her eyes went wide with horror as she looked at the files.

How the hell was she going to finish reading two years worth of files before tomorrow morning?

“Is there a problem Miss Baxter?” Justin asked, a grin plastered on his face. While Jasmine was going through a mental breakdown, he was having inner peace. She would think twice before messing with him.

“No sir,” Jasmine answered through gritted teeth.

“Good,” Justin said satisfactorily. “I suggest you start soon. Don’t forget we have a meeting to attend by three.” Justin turned and returned back to his seat. And just as he did, his office door flung wide open and Austin came in.

He glanced at Jasmine and then at the trolley beside her. He immediately understood what was happening and his lips broke into a smile. “Well well well, if it isn’t Miss Feisty,” he quipped.

Jasmine cursed her stars as she heard Austin. It was bad enough having to deal with Justin and now, she also had to deal with him. “Good morning Mr Gerano,” she greeted with a smile on her face.

“Wow, what happened to the feisty woman we met yesterday?” he asked. He got closer to Justin and asked, “What did you do to her?”

Jasmine sighed at Austin’s pretense. His question said something but his expression showed that he was equally enjoying seeing her in such a helpless state.

Wow, these two brothers not only looked the same, they also had the same behavior. They had no heart and their souls were dark.

“You can go now,” Justin dismissed.

Jasmine bowed and dragged the trolley out of there.

“So, what happened after I left,” Austin asked and took his seat opposite Justin.

“Don’t you have anywhere else to be?” Justin asked irritably.

“I just finished my meeting so no, I have nowhere important to be till three,” Austin answered.

“Then don’t you have any work to do,” Justin persisted.

“I have taken care of everything important. You know me, I wouldn’t be here if I had work to do,” Austin stated.

Justin couldn’t retort as he knew Austin was right. He was a playful person but not when it came to work. It was the one thing he took seriously.

“She had no choice but to accept to be my assistant,” Justin finally answered.

“And I see you’ve wasted no time in teaching her a lesson,” Austin commented.

“She better get used to it as this is just the beginning,” Justin said with a menacing expression.
