Finally she is mine

The days, the weeks and the months all went by so quickly and Lilian had kept Mia in her custody in the hopes that she would be able to get some kind of support since Mia was to be the next of kin of both of her parents.

She was right actually as things began to work in her favor. She finally got custody of Mia and now Mia is being mistreated by her. Mia's autism makes it difficult for Lilian to leave her all by herself without keeping an eye on her or having someone do it for her. Mia got so many nannies and babysitters but none of them could go a full month without quitting their job. At one point Lilian almost murdered Mia. Mia on the other hand was doing well in school, her autism makes it very easy for her to understand things, a normal human being won't understand too quickly.

But having good grades wasn't enough, everyone in class tried their best to avoid Mia as she was tagged the "weirdo ''. She was always bullied and no one wanted to be around her. Mia faced rejection at its peak and she was just 9 years old, a grade 5 student.

"What is it now? What the hell do you want?" Lilian kept screaming at the top of her voice when a maid reported to her that Mia had refused to eat anything.

Mia was speechless, she didn't talk, she didn't respond and she let Lilian continue screaming.

Lilian picked the little girl who sat on the floor by her bed with her knees resting on her nose. She slapped her across the face and Mia let out a teardrop.

"That is what you get for being such a brat. I am not your mother so don't expect me endure all your stupid behaviors as a matter of fact you should be grateful I even offered to let you stay in my custody" Lilian kept on yelling and Mia couldn't take much of her yelling anymore. She was having an emotional breakdown that had become very common ever since she started her stay with Lilian.

She passed out again for the 5th time that week and Lilian just couldn't take the risk of carrying her to the hospital for the 5th time in a one week as it would raise suspicion due to Mia's uncommon frequent hospital visits.

She left Mia on her bed until she finally regained her consciousness. Mia was getting more than fed up, she knew she could no longer stay here. She was right as Lilian was making preparations to kill her.

Lilians's POV

"What do you mean you cannot find her?" I kept on screaming at the top of my lungs, my voice echoed in the whole house but I couldn't even care less.

"I am really sorry ma.. I .. I.. don't know.. she" a maid kept on stammering as she tried to explain her side of the story. She knew she was in big trouble if I couldn't find Mia.

I drove round the entire city like a crazy person looking for Mia and I couldn't find her. I didn't know if it was right to report her missing, it had been three good days already and I haven't found her. If I go to the police then there is a huge possibility that she would be taken away from my custody when she is found. I could be tagged as an irresponsible guardian, damn! What should I do now?

My car suddenly stopped working and of course it had to leave me in the middle of nowhere. I came down from the vehicle to try to check what was wrong, when I felt someone cover my mouth and nose from behind. I tried to breathe but I couldn't until I found myself losing consciousness.

I woke up in a dark room, I couldn't move and I was very sure that my hands and legs were tied up although I couldn't see.

" I see you are awake" a male voice spoke.

"Untie her" the same male voice instructed and I could feel my legs and hands being loose.

"Now, I won't hurt you or anyone okay" the voice that sounded threatening initially was now gentle and calm.

"Please just let me go. What did I do to you?" I pleaded out of fear of my own life.

" You didn't do anything dear, '' the voice assured me. I still couldn't see the face behind that voice and after some time I realized I was wearing a blindfold. I was about to take it off.

"Unless you want to meet your sister's husband in heaven, I would advise you not to do that" the voice threatened and my trembling hands stopped the action at once.

" Look, you want your freedom and I want my peace of mind and we can both get what we want. If you will just agree to hand over little Mia to me without any issues okay?" He began to stroke my hair gently.

"I .. I.. I don't know where she is" I stammered and I got a resounding slap as a response.

"Don't even tell me that story. I don't want any of it. Isn't she supposed to be in your custody? what do you mean by that?" The voice shouted and I felt someone lifting me up and throwing me across the room. I hit my head so hard I lost consciousness for the second time and I didn't regain myself until the next day. I was so weak and I had a bad headache, I could barely get myself, then I heard footsteps.

"Are you ready to talk now" the voice spoke again but this time I could sense anger and resentment in his voice. I was quiet because I knew that if I told him I had no idea where Mia was then I am going to get killed this time.

"Answer me you tramp" he grabbed my elbows and made me stand from the sitting position.

"Please spare my life. I don't know where she is, she ran away from the house and I had gone in search of her before you.." I couldn't finish my sentence when he let go of my elbow and threw me on the floor.

"What do we do with her boss?" I heard a different voice speak.

"Nothing, return her. I can't afford another member of Arthur's family to go missing or dead again" the male voice I was speaking with initially, replied. I felt someone pick me up and cover my nose.

When I woke up again I found myself outside my house. I was just by the gate. I began to bang in the gate like a crazy woman, when the gate opened I stormed into the house at once and my maids stared at me with confusion.

"Where is she? Where is she?" I kept on screaming at the top of my lungs. Everyone in the house looked so frightened no one would dare to confront me to ask who I was talking about.

"Where is who ma'am" a stuttering maid asked suddenly and took a few steps backwards.

"Where is that little witch? The one that nearly made me.." I was blurting out in anger but then suddenly stopped.

"Made you what now?" The maid was more attentive until I gave her a stern look which made her and everyone leave me to be alone in the sitting room.

What is all this? What type of trouble have I gotten myself into?. I believe that those people are responsible for my sister's disappearance, even if I saw their faces. I'm not crazy enough to start going after them. People who were so daring as to attack my sister even with the heavy security.

Damn! I had to sit on the chair and lock my fingers together as I rested both hands on my forehead. I think I would need to leave this country.

Yes, I need to leave this place before those people come after me again thinking I have Mia with me. But if I leave then I might lose everything. What I'm I going to do now? Where do I start from?

It didn't take too long before I heard the doorbell ting, I swallowed a huge chunk of spit, I was too scared to do it so I had someone to open the door while I hid away behind the couch. I took a small peek and noticed it was a police officer. I put myself together and went to talk to him, signaling to be left alone.

"Welcome officer, what do I owe you for this visit?" I faked a smile and was calm.

"Please come in," I offered.

"No thank you. I am here to check up on Mia as per the court orders" he demanded at once.

"Mia is sleeping but if you want I can go wake her up" I lied hoping that he would refuse.

"No no. It's okay, have a nice day" he smiled and waved me bye. I managed to escape this time but what happens if they come again? It wouldn't be so easy.
