The moment I get home, I throw my backpack on the floor and go to my room to pull out my phone and see what's going on. I groan as I open my eyes. My whole body feels sore and the first thing I see is Lion's face right above me. I scoot back on the couch and gasp when I realize I'm naked. Fully naked. I grab a blanket from the couch to cover myself. "Are you feeling okay?" Lion asks looking concerned. I have a scary few seconds where I think... is it possible he did something to me? Why the hell don't I have any clothes on? Why does everything hurt? But for some reason I know that's not possible. Lion couldn't hurt me, I know that deep in my bones, “Mid, you had your first shift. It wasn't easy, you must be in pain.” "Oh. I am,” I blurt out, frowning while trying to remember what happened, but I have no idea, "I-I turned into a wolf?" "Uh... sort of," he mumbles and scratches his head, "Your wolf is seriously malnourished. It's small, weak and ugly, hardly has any fur. It was kind of traumatizing to see, honestly." Oh, no. Midnight, the Half-Wolf Candy Lane
The next day when I see Grayson at Beast Maker I can feel everyone watching us as he walks straight to my office to greet me like he doesn't notice the eyes on us or like he just doesn't care. I, on the other hand, look into his eyes with concern, hoping I don't feel what I read in the books: that animalistic need to be close to him, to want him more than anyone else, to feel like he's my whole world and that my wolf would rather die than be without him. None of that happens. "Hey, Mid," he greets me nonchalantly. And he stays here chatting with me without showing any sign that I mentioned before. That's a good thing. My wolf had a moment of mental farts, that's all. So I can quietly move on without a problem. For a full week I manage to live like a normal person who is trying to survive around wolves. I don't have any panic attacks, my wolf doesn't lose her mind calling Grayson ‘ours’ again and I manage to create a little routine that makes me feel good.

"No, Grandma. The best way to defeat someone is with violence and pain," Gray expresses, making a turn with a lot of force. I have to hold on to my seat to keep from flying off, "Wait until you hear what I'm going to tell you. You'll like what I have planned." I doubt it, because defeat, violence and pain sound like something I'm not going to be good at, but I'd rather stay quiet until Gray parks in front of Candy Lane. It's a giant place with pink walls. "We haven't even walked in and I already feel better. Thanks for bringing me here," I mumble happily and get out of Grayson's horrible car. Candy Lane is the biggest sweet shop in ever, they have all kinds of sweet things, from candy to frapuchinos to cakes. As soon as we are seated, a very animated waitress serves us and we place our orders, but Grayson refuses to tell us his plan until we are eating. While I wait for what I ordered, I walk over to the candy section and buy some popsicles, because the ones I got
