Maya's pov

I chew down on my eggs Cassian seated across from me lost in thought. I can't believe I'm here with him yet he might disappear within the snap of a finger.

After all, it took for us to be together again.

“I've spoken to my boss,” Giovanni says entering the kitchen. He holds a phone in his right hand, his face set into finishing this.

Cassian looks at him. “And?”

He looks away before he speaks and my stomach twists. “He said we can go in.”

I huff feeling my heart pound in my chest, this is really happening. “You won't arrest him right?” I ask just for clarification. I can't go in and have them switching up on us.

“No, right now he still hasn't made up his mind if he is the enemy or the witness,” he says, still not meeting my eyes.

Cassian glares at him, his lips pressed into a thin line. “It's not an easy decision.”

I rub his hand and his lips tug up. “Let's just go and see what deal they offer you.”
