Save Me!

"Stay at your place?" She suddenly realized that today was their wedding night, and according to tradition, it should be...

Her face flushed intensely. She was married! Now she realized an ironclad fact, but should she go to Shane's house?

In fact, she was currently homeless. If not at Shane's place, she had nowhere else to go except the company's staff dormitory, where she sometimes stayed when working late.

If she went to Shane's house tonight, what would it imply? She was an adult and understood it in her heart, but actually taking that step, she didn't feel prepared.

From her troubled expression, he already knew her thoughts. "You don't need to feel awkward. In fact, if you come to my house tonight, I won't do anything to you!" Shane felt a bit aggrieved. Did he really seem like the big bad wolf trying to deceive Little White Rabbit?

Valeria blushed deeply. "How do you know what I'm thinking?"

Shane said with a teasing tone, "Your face is all written with 'Shane is a big bad wolf!'" In a joking manner, he made her forget her nervousness.

"Shane, thank you, but tonight I still want some time to myself. Too much has happened, and I can go to the staff dormitory to sleep!" She insisted on her decision. Some say that sex and love are unrelated, but she felt they were inseparable. She wanted to enjoy the process of being in love before making any rash decisions. Moreover, she believed that in the near future, they would surely fall in love.

Some things are destined at first sight. She and Shane started this way.

"Alright!"

After dinner, Shane escorted her to the downstairs of the company's dormitory and then drove away.

In fact, not many people lived in the company's staff dormitory building. Most of them had families, and it wasn't very safe around here. Unless absolutely necessary, no one would choose to live here.

The dormitory corridor was dark, and she held her phone, illuminating the path, trying to bolster her courage as she climbed the stairs.

Whistling— The corridor was narrow, and there was a draft that made a sound like a whistle.

She felt a bit eerie. She climbed the stairs cautiously and entered her room, finally heaving a sigh of relief.

Luckily, she had left some personal items here, so she didn't need to worry too much. However, she had truly cut off ties with her family, and now she needed to be self-reliant on many things.

After spreading the blanket, she rested well for the night.

The next day, when she went to work at the company, people looked at her strangely.

"I didn't expect Valeria to be quite tough. She said she'd leave home, and she did. Quite resolute!"

Having heard that she was a rich second generation, working in this small place, usually, many looked down on her. But today, some even greeted her and smiled.

"Yeah, those of us with a grudge against the rich finally have some balance!"

Valeria found their reactions amusing. It seemed like her leaving home was a good thing for them.

Talking about being a rich second generation, she owed it to her stepmother. If it weren't for her stepmother constantly coming to the magazine office during her early days after graduation, supposedly persuading her to go back, but actually spreading her notoriety throughout the company, things might be different.

"Yeah, now we can be equals!" She responded to the topic with self-mockery.

"Hey, since you and I are the same now, let me tell you something!"

"What is it?"

"Your stepmother is waiting for you in the editor-in-chief's office!"

Valeria felt a headache coming. Was her stepmother here to make a fuss about her marriage?

“Sasha, watch over things for me. I'll go check if today's newspaper has published it!"

"No problem, I'm here!" The two exchanged knowing smiles.

Valeria didn't expect that leaving the Everhart family would also bring her good reputation.

"Hey, Valery, Valeria!" Her stepmother caught up, and Valeria immediately turned and avoided her. She didn't want her stepmother to publicize her marriage so conspicuously.

From that day on, whenever she saw her stepmother coming, Valeria would hide. Everyone in the company knew that Valeria was living in the staff dormitory and not going home.

One evening, after working overtime at the company, Valeria was about to return to the dormitory. She felt like the eyes of the company were constantly on her, but when she looked around, she didn't see anyone.

She thought for a moment and decided to go back. But in the corridor, she noticed overlapping footsteps. Was she being followed? She slowed her pace, turned off her phone's light, and quietly hid in a corner. Sure enough, she saw a figure slowly approaching.

She jumped out from the corner. "Who are you? Why are you following me?"

"Since you found out, there's nothing for me to hide!" Surprisingly, it was Kane Malloy, a silent and unnoticed colleague in the company.

Valeria realized the danger and before she could scream, he covered her mouth. "Ump—"

She knew what danger she was facing.

No, no! Shane, save me!

Her inner voice desperately called out, fear in her eyes.

"Valeria, I just want you once!" Kane said lewdly, dragging her into a room.

She closed her eyes in despair. This time, she was truly doomed.

Suddenly, a loud bang!

Kane released his hand covering her mouth. She began screaming, "Help! Help!"

When she felt someone grabbing her hand again, Valeria was terrified. "Who are you? Let me go!"

Valeria couldn't see who it was and thought it was someone else.

"Valeria, it's me, it's Shane!"

"... Shane? Shane, you’re here!" Valeria, still in shock, threw herself into his arms.

"Don't be afraid. Let's go home."
