"I told you I wanted to sleep again. But you woke me up with your questions, can't it wait? Or do you want to get laid again?"
The man on top of her had a grin on his face. He then said, biting his lower lip "I could not blame you though. I have sent you to heaven several times, so it's expected if you want me now."
Kate's eyes widened in disbelief. How could this man be so shameful?!
"Anyway, your body ain't healed yet, so I think you need to rest first. I don't want to sleep beside you when you're sick. You're like a mad horse."
He remained to stare at her before he opened his mouth to speak, "To answer your question, I just saw your body yesterday morning lying on the seashore when I arrived here."
The man sat on the bed after giving her a smack on her lips. "Good morning, baby! Welcome to my island! And yes, you've got to live with me as long as I want. I really enjoy seeing your beautiful face so I guess you'll get to see my handsome face from now on. Unless you wanted to leave my sanctuary, then feel free to swim miles away until you reach the next island."
The man nonchalantly got up, removed his shirt, and changed it to a hoodie in front of her. "I'll just prepare our brunch so you can drink your medicine later." He winked and left her astounded in the bed.
"If not only for your fever, I would think that your body's high temperature was because of you wanting to seduce me again."
What the hell?
The man's laughter rang out throughout the cabin.
Kate's blood boiled with rage. She took up the pillow beside her and tossed it into the door that he had just shut.
Calming herself down, she got up too. She came out of the room and noticed that the rain had not yet stopped. She roamed her eyes around the cabin. It was just small. With a living room right after she came out of the bedroom and beside it was the dining room. There's another door next to the door she came out with and she bet it was the second bedroom.
Enough for a single person.
Did he live in this house? But what was he doing in the city?
Kate was perplexed until she smelled the food he was preparing in the kitchen.
She followed the scent and found him cooking. The kitchen was open and was only covered by a net around it. She could feel the cold from there until he heard him speak.
"Get inside."
But she remained there. She was in awe of the view. If not only for the fogs, she would clearly see the beauty of the location.
He was indeed right. They're on his island. The cabin was located in the highest part of the island. The beauty of the blue sea and its waves could be seen from her place. She could tell because a lot of trees from where she was until below were scattered.
She was thinking about what possibly was the view on the other side when a man's body blocked the view.
She looked up at him to complain but he just smiled at her. "You will see the beauty of my place once the rain stops. I will tour you around, I promise. Just get inside and wait for me at the dining table. It's cold here and you're still not feeling well."
Kate's heart flattered at his sweet voice and gesture.
"I'll let you do the other chores once you're well." He added teasingly when she entered again.
She stomped her feet in annoyance before she sat at the dining table waiting for him.
The aroma of his cooking caused her throat to dry up. She's hungry.
When the man finally entered with trays in both hands, she smiled from ear to ear. She assisted him in setting the table.
"So hungry huh?"
"Duh! My last meal was before I went to that club. Of course, who would not be starving?"
Kate answered back as she started to put dishes on her plates. She didn't wait for him to ask her to eat. When she noticed him not moving, she raised her head and noticed him looking at her.
"What?"
"You haven't eaten for almost three days now?"
Kate stopped for a moment and looked up to the ceiling. "I ate dinner on Monday before I went to the club. I woke up the other day at noon, I was so tired to eat that day until my flight, and then the plane I was riding on crashed. You told me you found me yesterday morning, and I just woke up now. And it's Thursday right?"
The man's forehead furrowed and put away her plate full of food. Instead, he gave her a bowl of soup and two pieces of bread. "Eat this first, then take a bath before you eat a heavy meal after an hour or two."
Kate pouted but agreed. "Okay, hmmm."
The man kept watching her when she suddenly asked, "What's your name again?"
The man who had just begun putting food on his plate paused and looked at her amusedly. Suddenly, his waves of laughter echoed into the air. She looked at him, puzzled, but he kept laughing until he finally wiped off his tears.
What's wrong with this man?
"After all that has happened, we still don't know each other's names. It's Yael for you, Miss?"
Kate chuckled. He’s right. "It's Kate."
He nodded. "And baby for me. Alright." He winked at her, but she just rolled her eyes.
"Anyway, you owned this place?"
He proudly nodded.
"What were you doing in Houston, then?"
"I just visited an acquaintance."
"Oh, I thought you just took a visit to get laid."
"That too."
Kate's eyes squinted. So it wasn't his first time visiting such a wild place? Looked like I was mistaken when I approached him that I assumed he was not used to that kind of place.
"I just visited that place to get a drink." Yael suddenly explained when she didn't speak. "Could not believe to be seduced by a lady, but I had a great night."
Kate's eyes widened. Her cheeks blushed in embarrassment. However, his last words made her want to be hit by the lightning outside or just to be buried alive.
"I even received a remembrance, and of course, I brought it here with me. I could not just let others see it. It's mine."
“Deal?” Kate’s seriousness was replaced by a mischievous grin as she asked Kael. Her left eyebrow was even raised.Kael’s lips curved into a smile. It’s not really her request that arose his interest. He was already expecting that. It’s the thought that she volunteered to help him convince his brother. His gaze fell down on Kate’s hand waiting for his handshake. She’s so confident. “Deal.” He accepted her hand and squeezed it. Let’s see…“So…”“Hmmm?”“When are you planning to invite him over? Why don’t you invite him
“I heard that before…” Kate whispered. She remembered those times when she was easily duped to marry him. She once believed them.“I understand, Hope. It’s not that I don’t want to let you go, but I also don’t have a choice.” Kael leaned on the chair with his arms crossed. Seeing her confused look, he added, “We need to remain married, Hope. This will benefit us both.”Kate was perplexed. Her brow furrowed with a mix of surprise and curiosity.“You filed a divorce when you learned that my parents were already dead. I assume it was because you thought that their promise would not be fulfilled, right?”Kate absentmindedly nodded as she waited for him to continue.
Hope?Kate's heart raced as she desperately turned around until her eyes finally landed on the owner of that voice. “K-Kael?”Standing right in front of her was a man who exuded an air of undeniable handsomeness, arrogance, and dominance. It was a combination that both admired and repelled her at the same time. The intensity of his presence made her pulse quicken, and she couldn't help but wonder if he was the man she married. Questions flooded her mind like a torrential downpour, leaving her feeling both apprehensive and intrigued. He looked familiar.Funny! Kate wanted to laugh at herself. He was her husband, but it was the only time that they met. Suppressing her thoughts, she decided to wait for him to approach her and
I have to… Kate felt her weight getting heavier as she walked toward the rescue boat that had been waiting for her. You must do what is right. She talked to herself as she sighed heavily. She didn’t know what to do. Not really, she actually knew. She needed to fix the mess she created and must be responsible for the consequences of her actions. She just didn’t know where to start and the deep gaze she felt from behind didn't help her to decide at all. It seemed to pierce through her like a thousand sharp needles, reminding her of the happy events that had unfolded on the island that she was about to leave behind, for an unknown exact reason, she was about to know. She took a deep breath, trying to compose herself. With each step she took, the sa
"R-Rescuers?"Kate was finally able to decipher what was written on their shirts. "A-Are they here for me?!" She looked up at Yael, her voice tinged with excitement.Yael, on the other hand, firmly gripped her hand. He looked so serious. He kept looking intently at the rescuers arriving with a hint of dismay until his eyes fell on a familiar figure. As the rescuers finally stepped foot on the island, Yael's eyes fell on their companion who was running toward them. Without waiting for him to speak, he already asked, "Who are they, Carlos?"Carlos trembled as he heard the irritation in Yael's voice. He quickly stepped forward and answered, "They're looking for someone, Sir Yael!" Carlos assumed that Yael was irritated because he hated being disturbed on the island. H
"You really don't want to come with me?" Yael repeatedly asked Kate who had not been paying attention to him."I said, I don't wan---" Kate faced him pissed but halted when she noticed what he was holding. Is he planning to---Yael smiled sheepishly when she noticed Kate's reaction. I knew it!"Are you going to catch a fish?" Kate exclaimed. She ran up to him, but he just shrugged and turned his back on her."What else?" Yael asked, holding the fishing rod as if to state the obvious.Kate rushed after him, clutching his arms. "You should have told me earlier!" Kate kept grinning.Yael frowned. "I've been asking you…""Yeah! But you didn't inform me right away!""So, it's my fault now?""Well… Of course!"Yael shrugged his arms and walked fast, leaving Kate behind. Why is he sulking?"Hey! Don't leave me here! I'm coming with you!" Kate dashed after him, grabbing his arms once more. "May I join you?" she inquired sweetly."...""I'm coming with you!""...""I'll accompany you!""...""
This ain't right…A heavy sigh broke the deafening silence inside the presidential office of the highest skyscraper in Houston. He stood tall, facing the floor-to-ceiling window, but his gaze was elsewhere, oblivious to the beautiful sight of the entire city glistening in the night, mirroring the night sky that was shining brightly due to the million stars. His hands were clenched inside his pockets. His coat was disheveled, and so was his hair. His brow furrowed, and his eyes were lost. A glimpse of a man, who has not slept yet for the whole night. Taking another heavy breath, he turned and walked toward his table. He halted in front of the scattered documents. The reports that were given to him the other day. His gaze was drawn to the woman he had never met before. His jaw tightened as he witnessed her intimate relationship with the man he knew so well.He massaged his temples as he gazed up at the ceiling. What should I do?He closed his eyes tightly, as his mind flew with the w
Lip locked. Tongue intertwined. Body pressed against each other. It seemed that they had forgotten where they were.Yael started to roam his left hand on Kate's body. Caressing every skin that it touched. While his right hand was still on her waist, pulling her closer to his body. Their wet shirt and the cold from the waterfalls didn’t dissipate the building of desire within.Kate moaned inside his lips, making both of their temperatures increase. She felt suffocated and unsure, that’s why she pulled out. Her eyes stared at Yael's burning gaze with unconscious desire and confusion. She was catching her breath with her swollen parted lips.Yael could not get enough of her. Her parted lips and hot breath that could reach his face made him want to claim her lips again. So he did. With his eyes closed and an uncontrollable heartbeat beating incredibly fast, he held her face gently. He licked her lips. He bit and played with her tongue. He sucked it. He yearned for something that would enr
"You're so lucky to have a place like this." Kate commented as she floated her body in the water. Her eyes were so drawn to the blue sky that her smile never faded. She inhaled deeply before she closed her eyes, savoring the fresh air and listening to the sounds of nature. "It's so relaxing." Yael kept an eye on her. Her calm demeanor put his mind at ease. "This used to be our family's vacation spot."Kate's eyes snapped open. "You didn't own this place?"Yael nodded. Smile appeared on his lips as he looked away reminiscing. "It was owned by an elderly couple, and we usually rented it for vacation. Every summer break, we came here for relaxation. It became our family sanctuary, and we made many memories away from the city.""Then, how did you own this?" Kate inquired. She was well aware that with such beauty, the entire island would be prohibitively expensive."I bought it," Yael chuckled. "I guess," he said, his eyes shining with pride. "It took a lot of persuasion to get the owner'
