Chapter 6: Kidnap

Doris held the book, stood by the shelf, and was lost in thought until an arm patted her shoulder.

She regained consciousness and turned her head to look behind her.

Nobody was there.

Doris frowned, clutching the book in her hand. It was obvious that someone tapped her shoulder earlier...

“Doris Hall, is that you?” A soothing female voice came from behind.

Startled, Doris quickly took a few steps forward, then turned to look at the source of the voice. In front of her was a sexy girl, who looked just the same or a few years older than her. Doris lived till this age, this was the first time seeing such a beautiful girl. The girl has extremely prominent wine red hair, it is curly in a natural style, falling to the waist. Her upturned eyes were so seductive and soulful, with dazzling white skin. Her beauty is like a fairy, not like a human.

Her actions were just as devilishly fast, Doris thought. Apparently, she patted her shoulder from behind, but now standing in front of her. Before, there was only a bookshelf in front of her, so no one was there. How could she move that fast?

Thinking of this, Doris was wary and asked back, "Who are you?"

Her first thought was that she was one of Ethan's lovers, but she immediately dismissed the idea. Ethan was very careful, never letting any women outside bother her. Doris looked around searching.

“Looking for bodyguards following you? I took them all down.” The beautiful girl spoke up.

At this point, Doris really panicked, but she did not dare to act rudely, for fear of angering this mysterious girl.

“What do you want?” She tried to keep her voice calm.

"You still haven't answered my first question," the girl replied, looking at her watch, showing her impatience. "Okay, no more time left, follow me."

Doris pursed her lips, taking a step back again. “Why should I?”

“I don't intend to hurt you, but I'm not sure if you don't cooperate.” The girl's voice sounded nonchalant, like the threat she said just now was just a casual thing.

Doris clenched her fists. The bookstore was very empty today, she couldn't call for help. But even if she shouted, it was useless. The girl in front of her was strong enough to defeat all the bodyguards that Ethan sent to protect her, no one could help her at this moment.

“Tell me what you want,” Doris asked firmly, showing that if the girl didn't answer, she wouldn't follow her.

“If you still hesitate, then other danger things come, and I won't be able to lead you to the safe place.” The girl replied to her in a flat voice, it was just that her voice was so melodious that it couldn't make the opposite person develop hostility towards her.

“What things?” Doris was suddenly confused by this answer.

At this point, the girl with the striking red hair turned her head to look her in the eye, slowly uttering a word, "Wolves."

Half an hour later, Ethan received news that Doris was missing.

In his office on the top floor of the Hall Building, Ethan was flipping through the documents in his hand while listening to the news from his assistant. When he first listened, he thought he heard it wrong.

“Who’s missing?” He asked again.

“Your wife, Mrs. Hall, Sir," said assistant Bruce reverently.

The pen in Ethan's hand fell, he stood up instantly, "When did she go missing? Where? Why was she missing? Are the bodyguards sent to protect her all dead?”

By the last sentence, his voice had turned angry.

“She went missing about thirty minutes ago, at a bookstore near Rain Park. The bodyguards were completely defeated. The driver found something unusual, so he went into the bookstore to check and found out that she was no longer there."

Each question answered didn't make Ethan any less nervous.

“Have you checked all the cameras in the bookstore?” Ethan gritted his teeth.

The assistant handed him the iPad he was holding, “The cameras in the bookstore are quite old, so the tapes taken are not very clear. However, according to the videos, Mrs. Hall seemed to have voluntarily followed the wine-red-hair girl."

Ethan watched the camera footage so closely, his brows furrowed. By the time the red-haired girl had defeated more than ten bodyguards he sent to protect Doris, his dashing eyebrows were raised. When he saw the two girls standing talking, and then Doris following the girl, Ethan's eyebrows finally relaxed.

The assistant stood solemnly but couldn't help but be curious as he looked at his rich expression. Ethan waved his hand, “Out. If there's anything I need, I'll call you later."

After the door closed, he put the iPad on the table, opened the drawer of the desk, took out a gold Vertu phone, turned on the power, then pressed a few buttons and called away.

"Ethan?" The voice on the other end sounded lazy, a little sexy as if that guy just woke up.

Ethan frowned, putting the phone away from his ear.

"Adrian, I think you'd best explain to me what's going on," Ethan said in a low voice.

“What’s happening?”

The rustling sound of the bed could be heard in the ear. Adrian was getting out of bed.

“Your lover knocked out my bodyguards and kidnapped my wife. Can you tell me why?” Ethan uttered each word through his teeth.

The person on the phone was silent for a moment, then a swearing voice rang out, “Damn it! Lily Bobellon!”

*

“You haven't told me your name,” asked Doris, sitting in the red-haired girl's Jeep, coldly.

She also did not understand why she obeyed her orders, only knowing that when the girl spoke, she subconsciously believed.

“You can call me Lily.” Lily looked at the rearview mirror of the car while answering her.

“It’s your real name or code name?” Doris attentively observed Lily's expression. She could tell that Lily was a chilly person just like herself. Those whose actions speak louder than words.

Lily glanced at her and replied short, "Real."

The car slowly moved out of the city.

“Where are you taking me?” Doris looked around at the scenery outside the car.

“Hiding. To the beach.”

Her words couldn't be more concise indeed.

“Hiding from whom? Wolves? What do you mean by "wolves"?" Doris didn't think that the "real wolves" were chasing her.

“Whatever you're thinking, that's what I mean. Mrs. Hall, there is no such thing as a myth in this world. Every tale is true,” replied Lily casually, but every word was like a bomb had been dropped on Doris' mind.

Could it be that she meant 'werewolves'?

But before Doris had time to ask more questions, a series of “Vroom! Vroom!” resounded.

Doris turned her head to look in the rearview mirror, a black car was following them with a furious speed. Then from one, splitting into five cars running parallel on the highway.
