Before Fred could react and even move while on the floor, Jack came closer towards him and kicked him in the stomach. The man groaned in pain and begged Jack not to hurt him any more. Ana stood frozen at the side, both of her hands were wrapped around herself and her legs were still shaking. Her eyes were large and watching the scene unfold before her. Jack looked like a madman attacking Fred. He spared Fred no mercy and kicked him again, threw punches at him and was on the verge of causing the man to pass out. Ana who was seeing that possibility quickly got a grip of herself, pulled herself together and walked towards Jack to touch his shoulder. “Please stop, you'll kill him.” She pleaded but Jack went on deaf ears as he continued to thrash the man who was barely moving at this point. “Please just stop now! Let the cops handle it.” Ana told him and when he didn't stop, she immediately came to block his way and stood in front of him and protecting a one-eyed Fred. “Get out of the
Ana couldn't stop staring at the two of them walked together, holding arm in arm. The employees clapped and one of them walked forward to give Jack the bouquet of flowers. Now Ana felt like she shouldn't have been present here. Her eyes didn't leave Jack and not even once did Jack glance her way, not even once. His eyes were only on a few of the employees who crowded him and then back to Grace who couldn't stop smiling and tugging unto his arm. Grace's gaze did flip over at Ana for a moment and even Ana too locked eyes with her as well. Ana didn't know why but the way Grace looked at her wasn't normal. Ana didn't know what to do, if she was to still stand where she was or to just walk away. Kent did look at her briefly and couldn't help but feel sorry for her and could not do anything for her. Ana inhaled and didn't know how long she stood there watching the staff surround Jack and Jack clinging more to Grace like he was dependent on her. Ana didn't want to stand here anymore and m
“Please don't look at me like that, Kayla.” Ana sighed and couldn't bear to see the disappointment in Kayla's face anymore. “Do you expect me to congratulate you instead? Come on Anastasia. You're pregnant at just 20 nearing 21 in a few months and still in your final year in the university. I would have never expected this from you at all.” Kayla spoke out her mind and then was quiet for some time before he asked the question. “Who is the father?”“I don't want to talk about it,” Ana replied. “Oh no, Missy. Don't think you will not answer the question.” Kayla shook her head. “And what am I supposed to say to your mother. I was responsible for you during your stay here.”“And I really appreciate it, Kayla. But this is my choice and my decision. It's me who's pregnant.” Ana said and the thought of carrying another life inside of her sparked hope for a new purpose in her life. Earlier she had wondered what she was to do with her life after Jack had left but now she had a reason to live
“A-Adam was...your boyfriend?” Anton blinked twice and took off his dark shades, revealing his stunned eyes. He had never saw this coming at all. Ana smiled bitterly. She didn't want to think about it but it came flushing back. Her chest only grew tighter by the second. “Yes I was. He was the greatest love of my life. He was the one to hold my soul and take very good care of it.” She replied. Anton was still in disbelief. He couldn't ever have imagined Anastasia was Adam's girlfriend in the past, never in a million years. He then composed himself and turned back to staring at the grave and silence reigned between them, only the sounds of the grass moving towards the direction of the wind could be heard. “Did you know he wanted...to unite you and his mother together?” Ana asked but didn't look directly at him, she kept on staring down at the grave in front of her. It was taking all of her strength to still stand firm and not break down like this. “I...I didn't know that,” Anton mut
The drive back into town was very quiet, only the engine revving could be heard. Trevor turned his neck every couple of seconds towards Ana, he couldn't help but worry about her and couldn't even imagine what she must be going through after hearing about Adam's death. He saw her face was pale, dry and not the Anastasia he knew who was always full of life. They drove into town and Trevor drove the car to his small apartment. He parked the car in front of the building and looked at Ana's direction. She was quiet all through the ride and was constantly staring at nothing in particular. Trevor didn't know what he had to do to get her to talk about it but then stepped out of the car, walked over to her side and opened the door for her. Ana didn't move from where she was seated, with her legs crossed, her hands on her lap and her eyes staring forward. It was like she wasn't able to hear nor feel anything. Her eyes were all dried up from the tears she had shed earlier. Trevor grabbed her
Just then the door abruptly opened and Grace stormed in wearing a hard expression on her face. “What did you just say?! You damn hypocrite! I knew it! So you are Jack's lover!”Ana was caught off guard and gulped. “...Mrs Grace?... I can explain...” But before she could complete her sentence, Grace rushed towards her and struck her across the face. “The day I called you up to meet I asked you who was Jack's lover and you blatantly lied straight to my face and pretended to be ignorant! How could you, Anastasia?!” Grace yelled, fuming in anger. Ana blinked, still stunned from the slap on her cheek, her hand was on her cheek and her face was turned to the other side. Her eyes met with Jack's and her expression grew hard. “Yes! I am Jack's love, not his mistress.” Ana turned to Grace and spoke confidently. Grace's eyes widened in surprise at her boldness. She gritted and said. “How dare you!...” And rose her hand up to slap Ana but Ana gripped her wrist in mid air. Grace frowned even
