do anything for him

“There must be a purpose for you to be their child, try to discover that purpose!”

[*****]

“What is all this? Is this the thing for which we had brought you up till today?” Han trembling with anger retorted out furiously.

“Dad, I…” Ojaswi stammered.

“Don’t call me dad. I am not your dad. You betrayed our love and paid a huge price as a betrayal. I am beholden to you. So, now I announce our relationship to end right here. From today onwards…”

Ojaswi hastily interrupted him, “no… dad, please don’t say that. Please try to…”

“Enough…” Kamy who was standing a few distances away roared.

Seeing her mother, Ojaswi rushed towards her and gripping her arms, tried to beg for help, “Mom, please… tell dad not to be angry with me. I know I shouldn’t be doing this but I have to… please…”

“Han, let’s go. We need to prepare a funeral for our deceased daughter,” Kamy spoke in a cold voice.

Ojaswi loosen her grip and stepped backward in shock. Her heart broke into pieces. She felt like she had landed hard from a high building. Tears rolled down her eyes and her throat felt so dry.

“Mom…” was all she could mumble underneath her breath helplessly.

Han walked towards his wife and without giving a single glance to Ojaswi, he wrapped his hand around Kamy’s shoulder and turned around to leave. Kamy searched for something on her bag she was carrying.

She took out a box wrapped in beautiful packing paper and turned towards Ojaswi. Ojaswi with some hope glanced at her but Kamy uplifted her hand and dropped the box right in front of her feet.

“Now you have married, your dream will have a similar condition to this gift. The dream which you have always dreamt with your open eyes, Oja…” she asserted in a solemn voice looking deep into her eyes and added, “and this is all we could present you as your wedding gift.”

“Mom,” she tried to persuade her but Kamy turned around and walked away.

They walked away leaving Ojaswi crying bitterly, in the middle of the empty road in a white gown.

She fell on her knees and cried out helplessly, watching her parents walking further and further without turning back not even for once. She so desperately wanted them to turn back and look at her for once but they didn’t.

“I am sorry, mom. I am sorry, dad. I couldn’t be the daughter you always wanted for.”

She then took the box and glanced at the nameplate in which it was written, ‘To our world best lovely daughter, Oja.’ With a disheartened heart, she unwrapped the box before she found out that it was a camera, Canon EOS 5D.

Flashback played on her mind:

“Fenil….” Ojaswi ran towards him soon after seeing him sitting on a bench handcuffed.

“Oja…” he got on his feet seeing her.

She hugged him and cried out, “Fenil, I am scared.”

“Everything would have been okay if you had not forced me to drive to that stupid exhibition,” Fenil said shoving her with his handcuffed hand.

“I am sorry, I am really sorry. I really haven’t thought we would go through this,” she said in a quivering voice.

“Very well, you did the deeds and now I have to pay for it,” Fenil sounded annoyed.

“Please don’t say that. I will do anything to protect you. We will get through this together. Trust me,” Ojaswi tried to console him.

“I don’t trust you,” he said in cold eyes.

“I will…”

Before her words were completed, a police officer approached him and pulled Fenil. ”Come with me.”

“Where are you taking him? No…” she cried out, pulling his hand.

“He has committed a big crime for which he needs to be punished,” the officer said, dragging him towards the cell.

“Please, he has done nothing wrong. She herself, jumped in front of our car, please,” Ojaswi said but no one listened to her.

“You cannot feed us the lie. Don’t forget you are in a police station,” the officer glared at her, and at last, he was able to drag Fenil away from her.

“I will protect you, Fenil. I will do anything for you,” she shouted watching him disappearing.

She fell on her knees and cried out, “Fenil… how am I going to live without you?”

Suddenly a black shoe stopped right in front of her and she raised her head looking at the person's face. Seeing the person she hastily got on her feet and pleaded, “please release him. He has done nothing wrong.”

Suddenly the person gripped her cheeks and in a stern voice said, “the crime he has committed is so huge that he will have to pay all his life.”

“Please, let him go. Take me instead,” she cried out.

Shoving her away he questioned, “are you serious?”

“Yes, I am. I am ready to do anything for him,” she said in a strong voice trying to make him believe her words.

He walked close to her and looking deep into her eyes, said “are you ready to exchange your freedom of his with you?”

Ojaswi was confused hearing him, “what does that mean?”

“You have to give away your freedom to me in order to get him bailed. You have to marry me, are you ready to do that?” he questioned. His eyes were cold as ice and his face solemn and emotionless.

Ojaswi wiped her tears and standing tall she replied, “I told you I will do anything for him.”
