Chapter 2.

The drive would have been a long one if not for the speed at which she drove.

Her friend kept screaming in the car, but she did not listen to her pleas that they should slow down.

Isabella drove to their favorite spot, which was up the hills. She got out of the car and walked to the edge, ready to throw herself down. Maybe death will ease the pain she was feeling.

Everything she ever believed was a lie. Her husband…no, the scumbag was a liar, not only did he cheat on her, he was going to be a father.

When did he plan to tell her all this? The lies kept on piling up, and he did not bother, either did he care about her feelings. She loved him for four years and thought he did too.

But he never did. She was just an tool to satisfy their greed.

When she left the room, Isabella expected Rodriguez to come after her but didn't. He valued Sheila more.

This was why her heart was breaking, and her world was falling apart right now. All she wanted was to die and forget about everything. Maybe it won't hurt like this anymore.

"Isabella, please don't" Manuela was on her knees, crying. Her best friend was scaring her. Whatever happens, she must survive. "You will only make them happy, please don't do this for your mother's sake…and mine too. You can start a new life without him…without any man. You are a beautiful and successful lady. This can't be the end, please."

Manuela's cry brought Isabella back to her senses.

She turned and saw her friend kneeling, not far from her. The agony on her face made her realized that she still had people who would care if she was no more.

Isabella took a few steps back. She ran to where Manuela was and hugged her. "My heart is breaking, Manuela. It hurts so much that I do not wish to live anymore. I have never been hurt like this before."

"I know," Manuela rubbed her back gently. She knew what it was like to have your heart broken. "You should cry your pain out. You will feel better.

Isabella did not fight the tears this time. She cried and wailed. She cursed at her ex-husband for everything he did to her. The cheap lies he told when he wanted to go and be with his mistress.

After three hours of crying and cursing all the failed men in their lives, Manuela suggested that they go to her place so that she could clean up.

"Can we go to the club, later?" Isabella wiped her tears with the back of her palm. She knew that her friend was going to be surprised.

"Are you serious?" Manuela understood her best friend's situation. Her heart was broken and so was her head. "You and I know very well that you are not the club type. It has been more than four years. You haven't gone there. Why today?"

"I want to party tonight and forget about the pain I'm feeling, Manuela," Isabella stood up as she walked to the car. "Are you coming? If you are not, then give me your house keys to go and clean up at least."

"Why not?" Manuela got up from the grass. She did not care to dust the sand on her dress. "You know that I love going to clubs and I won't miss this one…not after what happened today."

"I will drive this time, or we will never make it to the club and the hospital," she reminded her friend of the crazy drive she took them on.

"Fine," Isabella gave her the keys. In no time, they got to Manuela's apartment.

They bathed and put on pretty party dresses. Since they were nearly the same size, Isabella chose to wear one of Manuela's blue dresses. She gazed into the mirror, her long black hair cascading over her shoulders. The dress was blue, off-shoulder, ending just above her knees. Indeed, she was a beautiful woman.

In a hurry, they headed to the city's most expensive club, bustling with people and luxury cars parked outside. Once inside, they searched for the perfect spot.

They ordered champagne. Isabella could afford a VIP space for them, but she did not want to. The fun was to mingle with other people, dance and get drunk. She wanted to forget about her ex-husband.

Today was her birthday, anniversary, divorce party and almost death day. If not that, Manuela stopped her.

"There are so many important people here," Manuela shouted. She saw a famous politician, holding a mask.

"Yes, Manuela. I think there is a celebration going on."

"Hmmm…you are right. I will be back. Take care and enjoy yourself," she stood up to go. When she noticed the look on her friend's face, "I am going to the bathroom."

"Fine, don't stay for too long," Isabella said, rubbing her hands over her shoulders. She was the one who brought the idea of the club, and now she wanted to return to Manuela's apartment.

But how will she? The event of today were everywhere in her head…she needed to forget them in order to move on in life.

Just as she ordered another bottle. A young man was led to the counter. She ordered a drink from the bartender, and he attended to the stranger before anyone else.

The bartender paid extra attention to him. Isabella took a second look at him. He would be a handsome guy even though she could not see his face properly. The black mask hid his entire face except for his beautiful green eyes.

He picked his drink to leave, but it mistakenly dropped on the floor and the content slapshed on her thighs.

"I am sorry," he quickly apologized. He took out a white handkerchief from his pocket and asked "are you hurt ma?"

"No, I am not," Isabella checked herself quickly. The broken glasses did not touch her. It was just a drink.

"Thank goodness," he shouted, handing her the handkerchief. "Here, you should clean yourself since I won't be able to do it."

Isabella smiled for the first time. She took it and wiped the little drink on her thighs. It was not bad, so she sat back and thanked him.

"I'm very sorry. I was nervous," he said, moving a bit close so that she could hear him. "Can I sit next to you?"
