There was no real way of knowing if this was going to work. For all I knew, I was going to get us both killed. Ace was sure we could protect Kyra, although I had my doubts.

“Are you sure about this?” I asked Kyra the moment I shut the door behind us.

“I think this is going to work, it has to.” She whispered as we moved further into the house.

I didn’t need to ask where the hunters were, since I could smell them the moment we neared the stairs. It was strange that my senses were on high alert right now. I could even hear the way Kyra’s heart was beating rapidly in her chest.

Trying to ignore the doubt that was practically screaming in my head, I lead her up the stairs. If I was going to play this off, I was going to have to be more callous with her. The idea of hurting her just to make them believe I was on their side, wasn’t something I was looking forward to.
