It's over as quickly as it came on.

The silver glow goes away so quickly that it seems like it was never there. I feel dizzy and my hands shake. "What was that?" I say in a low voice.

Kael keeps putting his arms around my shoulders. It doesn't hurt, but his grip gets stronger because it grounds him. His words are very careful: "That's exactly what we were afraid of."

Thorne takes a deep breath. "The moon has already touched it.""That was... quick.

He says, "Too fast."

I look at every face one by one. All of them look scared. All of them look tense.

I say, "You're talking about me like I'm not here."

Draven finally looks me in the eye. "Because once you know what you are, you won't feel safe anymore."

It hurt like rocks when I heard those words: "Try me."

Kael gives it some thought and then gives one nod. "You are on land that is watched over by Alpha dogs. "And I just moved in," I say. We own the house, the forest, and the mountain. "How lucky I am."

What Thorne says is, "This area reacts to blood." "Wolf blood." Blood from the past.

It hurts to eat. "You said I wasn't a person."

Kael takes a deep breath in and out. "Not completely."

The room is getting cooler.

"My father was obsessed with bloodlines," Draven says in a soft voice. Besides records and stories, he also got visions. "Prophecies?" I say it again.

The wall is pushed away by Thorne. "One is about a girl who was born when the moon was quiet. A girl who makes the land wake up.

I take a sip. "That's... that's just a story."

"The house spoke back," Kael says. "The ground lit up beneath your feet."

Soft creaks in the walls make it sound like the house can hear him.

I put my arms around myself. "So what now?"

There is quiet.

Then there was a big crack.

From the inside, the window blows up.

There is a crash of glass all over the room as something dark and fast hits us. Thorne charges forward, and Kael moves quickly to push me behind him.

Things get straight.

A wolf.

Not like the last ones I saw. It has darker hair that looks almost black, and its eyes are bright red from hunger. It sticks out its tongue and shows its teeth.

"Scout," Draven growls.

After its bones break and its fur falls off, the wolf changes shape and a man stands in its place. Big. With wounds. He looks like he already won because of the smile on his face.

It's just a casual "You're late," from him. "The Alpha wants to talk."

Kael's voice gets very scary. "You went over our border."

The man looks past him.

I agree.

A guy says in a low voice, "And you look just like he said." "The Moonbound is really awake."

My heart beats fast.

"Tell Darius that he can't talk to her," Kael says.

He smiles even more. Alpha, oh no. He didn't ask.

We can feel the ground moving.

And outside, a lot of red eyes shine through the darkness.---

The forest was quiet, but it shook from the power we let out. The ancient pulse, which was both weak and strong, stayed in front of me, flickering with molten black, silver, and red energy like a living thing. It wasn't attacking, but it also wasn't being passive either. Its intelligence, evilness, and secrets all pushed against my mind, making me feel like I was losing control."Selene, it's not stable!" Kael growled, his amber eyes wide."That pulse could blow up if you don't pay attention!"Thorne's golden eyes shrunk, and his claws bent. You need to keep the power stable or we'll all die! We've seen what happens when it's not.Draven looked at me with calm dark blue eyes and said, "Moonbound..." "Your Silver Heart has the power," but it's not just strength; it's also control, knowledge, and instinct. "You must become one with the pulse."Silver energy shook wildly around me as I made fists. Sparks of red, silver, and black light up the night as the ancient pulse shook. My chest hur

  • Moonbound to the Alpha Triplets   CHAPTER 49

There was an old power in the air that I had never seen before. Because of my Moonbound Ascendant energy, the old whisper wasn't as strong, but its beat stayed the same: it was soft, rhythmic, and almost mocking. It seemed like the Shadowed Moon had left a memory, a heartbeat that was hidden deep in the world.Kael let out a low growl, and his amber eyes were very sharp. "Selene, that pulse isn't just energy. It's alive. Be careful with your mind!"The golden eyes of Thorne shrunk. "We've fought everything the Shadowed Moon made, but this pulse is different." Get ready to fight!"Draven looked into my calm dark blue eyes and said, "Moonbound..." You need to know about it. A piece of the Shadowed Moon's history is in this beat. Either it wants to teach you something or keep you there forever. There was a lot of silver energy swirling around me when I made fists. I could feel the old beat in the ground, the air, and even my bones. The night was lit up by sparks of red, silver, and black

Now it was quiet in the forest, but the air smelled like war. All the trees and rocks were broken, and the ground seemed to shake from the destruction that was still there. But in the silence, I could feel it: a presence that was older and darker than anything the Shadowed Moon had ever let loose. The golden eyes of Kael sparkled, and his hair stood on end. "Selene, it's still there. This is older and more dangerous. The golden eyes of Thorne got narrow, and his claws tensed up. "We've dealt with everything the Shadowed Moon made. This is not just an echo of it. Get ready!"Draven looked into my calm dark blue eyes. "Moonbound, this is the last test. The Dark Moon's remains were only the start. How you feel now is old, smart, and sneaky. Trust yourself and the Silver Heart."When I made fists, silver energy shook wildly around me. Sparks of red, silver, and black lit up the night, and the whisper of this old power filled my mind. My muscles screamed and my chest hurt, but I was determ

It was quiet in the forest now, but the air was tense. There were shards of the Shadowed Moon's power flying around me like sparks, but I could feel something much worse: a shadow inside the Silver Heart.Kael let out a low growl. His fur stood on end, and his amber eyes were very sharp. "Selene, it's in you." That power... It wants to damage the Silver Heart!"His golden eyes got narrow, and he flexed his claws. "We fought everything it threw at us: the Heart of Oblivion, the Pulse, the hidden core..." however? It wants to make your power work against you!"If I looked into Draven's dark blue eyes, I saw... Your Silver Heart is stronger than ever. You still have a piece of the Shadowed Moon inside you, though. Do not do it. "Believe in yourself... and in us."There was a lot of silver energy swirling around me when I made fists. The night was lit up by red, silver, and black sparks. The dark pulse in my heart got stronger, searching for fear and doubt. My muscles were screaming and m

During their fights, the Heart of Oblivion and the Pulse of Darkness destroyed the forest. Though that was over, something new started to move. It was a cold, twisted energy coiling in the darkness that was darker than anything the Shadowed Moon had let out. Being around it made me feel like I should be mean and smart. The fur on Kael's back stood on end, and his amber eyes were very sharp. "Selene, that energy... it's not over. Something else is on the way, and it's smarter than anything else!"The golden eyes of Thorne shrunk. "Everything we've fought has been practice. This... this is the real dark. Get ready."Draven looked into my calm dark blue eyes. Its last trick is "Moonbound... the Shadowed Moon has left behind a piece of itself, a seed of real evil." "Believe in yourself, the Silver Heart, and us."When I made a fist, a powerful wave of silver energy wrapped around me. Sparks of red, silver, and black flew across the broken forest as night fell. My muscles screamed and my c

  • Moonbound to the Alpha Triplets   CHAPTER 45

There was a dark shadow over the broken forest that shook. The molten black and silver energy twisted violently and pulsed with pure evil. Its last pulse was very bright and scary, and it sent out waves that could destroy everything, including the trees, rocks, and even the Silver Heart inside me.Kael growled, and his amber eyes were angry and sharp. "That pulse... it's alive!" It was faster than anything we'd ever seen!"“We’ve broken its weapons before, but this pulse is smarter and more dangerous. Don't give up!" Thorne's golden eyes shrunk.Draven looked right at me with his dark blue eyes. There is nothing else to say. Believe in the Silver Heart, believe in yourself, and believe in us. That's all there is.When the pulse's energy hit mine, red, silver, and black sparks flew through the night. My chest hurt and my muscles screamed, but my will was stronger than my fear.Thought, "I can do this," and the Silver Heart's hidden pulse came to life. The shadow's pulse got stronger, a
