Whispering secrets, the jungle held its breath.

Mist coiled around the roots like ghostly fingers, brushing Leora’s ankles as she stood in the clearing beside the dwindling fire. The embers pulsed softly, casting their faint glow over the crushed leaves and broken branches left behind from the night before. The chaos of battle had receded, but its echoes still hummed beneath her skin like an aftershock.

A deep ache sat in her chest like simmering fog—residual adrenaline, sorrow, and something more. She didn’t know what exactly. Only that it left her restless, every breath shallow, every silence too loud.

Kael stood next to her, stiff as the cold air around them. The fire’s dying light didn’t reach his face, but she could sense the tension in him, coiled like a spring. His shoulders were set, his arms crossed over his broad chest. Even with the war momentarily behind them, he looked ready to fight.

“The rogues are gone,” he muttered, voice hoarse and raw. “For now.”

The stranger's warning was too strong for Leora to ignore. Like a ghost whispering a prophecy, his voice reverberated in her mind, venomous and uncannily serene. The lingering effects of that encounter hung on her like smoke as she and Kael paced through the moonlit woods. The pack was mobilizing all around them, with wolves shifting, armor clinking, and eyes glowing with fear or excitement. The quiet night had lost its tranquility. It had turned into the quiet before a storm. The thunder of battle cries followed by howls pierced the tension like lightning across a clear sky. The way Kael moved next to her—fierce, fluid, completely in control—as well as the excitement of the hunt made Leora's heart race. But beneath his brutal accuracy lay a shield that accelerated her heartbeat. Kael whispered in a low, urgent voice, "Stay close." His body tense and alert like a predator stalking prey, his eyes scanning the darkened landscape ahead. He barely touched her with his fingers, b

The fight had been long, merciless, and full of moments of doubt. But now, when the first light of dawn crept over the horizon, the pack was united. The smell of triumph hung thick in the air, mixed with the forest smell of damp earth that had watched them emerge victorious. The reverberations of the last battle still lingered in the air, but the wolves of the pack, their spirits unbroken, came together to celebrate the unity that had preserved them through the tempest.Leora stood at the center of it all, her heart swelling with pride as she looked at the pack she now fully belonged to. Her journey had been long, filled with moments of doubt, but she had proven herself. Not just to Kael, but to herself. At her side, Kael was a constant reassurance, a constant source of strength. The connection between them was now undeniable, its radiance burning brighter than ever. His calloused hand, hardened from years of leadership and fighting, found hers, and as his fingers interwove with hers,

  • Moonbound    Chapter 14: A Luna’s Strength

A massive stress descended onto the atmosphere while Leora positioned at the border of the pack's domain with her gaze fixed on the forest which had formerly provided them peace. The place now felt like it had transformed into a defense territory. The mighty trees communicated unseen knowledge that magically revealed itself only to wolfkind. The rogue army of Selene assembled its forces in these dark places to wait. Leora’s fast heartbeat echoed through her chest while her breathing became short and uneven.Since her training alongside Kael as well as pack warriors she remained unprepared for the challenges she would soon face. She never expected to meet the past love of Kael who had come back to destroy all that he and Leora created. The foreboding influence of Selene brought darkness to the pack yet Leora maintained her position against its control. The approaching conflict brought to life the intense bond between her and Kael as strength radiated through her body. Her strength eman

Every breath felt slightly heavier than the last, but tension was hardly the single cause for the frantic beating of Leora’s heart. It was something much deeper, a connection that was no longer reasonable to ignore. A mysterious attraction that existed between her and Kael, one that seemed to be stronger than whatever force he tried to separate them with.It has been days since the two of them had last fought, and it was particularly evident that Kael had changed. He never ceased to be the icy, composed alpha that Leora met on their first introduction, but there was now a glimpse of something more bubbling under the ice. It was as though a small fissure had split open on the door, and through it, Leora could see the man he truly was—a man that had been hidden underneath bravado and agony.Kael had been more withdrawn than he was usually, going for long hours of solitude inside at night. The silence worried her, but at least she had some space to herself. She understood, or rather, acc

  • Moonbound    Chapter 12: The Storm Within

The going by of the days was so weighted with the unspoken words and the broken silences. The whisper between Leora and Kael had become a tide now, drawing them together with every passing moment. There was something more laced in every glance between them, something they weren’t aware of fully both of them.Their hesitancy or their fears were a nonfactor to the bond. It was relentless. It demanded attention. The pull was maddening for Leora. Her feet felt like they had no sure footing, the world had shifted and she walked on something much stronger than her own will. The bond between them—their bond would not allow her to be anything less than as tethered to him as bound to Kael in a way that made no sense, that shouldn’t. However, it was growing with every passing day, the distance between them.Kael’s walls were impenetrable, and he kept his heart shut and bolted away from inside it. She stood for him on the other side, wanting to be near then wanting to understand but unsure of how
