Chapter 2

Author: Alisha
Aria's POV

Ethan had barely left when Cameron's video call came through.

"Baby, how'd it go?"

I was years older than him and had been through plenty, but every time I saw his face, my heart still raced and my cheeks flushed.

I cleared my throat. "He drank it."

Cameron's lips curved into a smile, and his voice dropped low. "Good. Then you can't let him touch you until this is over. I'm gonna check, you know."

I hadn't expected him to say something like that. My face heated up, and I tried to look stern. "Stop talking nonsense."

"Baby, I'm only young in age," he said. "Everything else... not so young. And I'm an alpha, not a kid."

Before things could get any more inappropriate, I quickly cut him off and sweet-talked him for a bit until he finally agreed to hang up.

After the call ended, I went out and bought a calendar.

Every day that passed, I tore off another page.

From October 1st to the 10th, Ethan didn't come home once.

But I knew exactly where he'd been, who he'd seen, and what he'd done. Lily made sure to post every move on social media, subtly showcasing herself.

Afternoon tea at fancy restaurants, watching his wolf form at the training grounds, stargazing from his mountaintop villa, soaking together in hot springs.

It was strange, really. With Ethan's player reputation, he never wasted this much time on one omega. His past flings—no matter how pretty—lasted a month at most before he got bored.

But this Lily, whatever hold she had on him, had kept his attention for three whole months now.

That unusually long shelf life gave her confidence. Unlike other omegas who knew their place, she'd actually added me on social media and used it to poke at me in her passive-aggressive way.

I ignored her little games.

I was about to sever the bond anyway, so why would I care?

With nothing but time on my hands, I spent the next few days clearing out the house.

The razor I'd carefully selected, the suits I'd ironed and organized daily, the limited edition watch I'd stayed up all night to order...

No matter how expensive or small, if I'd given it to him, I packed it up and threw it away.

I tossed out everything—all the hurt I'd endured in this mate bond, and every bit of genuine feeling I'd ever had for Ethan.

I'd already decided to leave the past behind and start a new life.

Two days later, Ethan finally came home.

He looked around at the noticeably emptier villa and frowned. "Aria, you threw out my stuff?"

I flipped through the magazine in my hands and hummed in acknowledgment. "Yeah, I did. I bought them, so I can throw them out if I want. What's the problem? Besides, you never come home anyway, so you weren't using them."

Ethan thought I was throwing a tantrum because he'd missed our dinner the other day and was just saying things to get a reaction.

He sat down beside me and tried to smooth things over, his tone casual and coaxing. "Come on, we agreed we'd each do our own thing outside, no real feelings involved. You're still my luna, my only mate. Why are you suddenly bothered by this now?"

I didn't want to waste time arguing over pointless things anymore.

I snapped the magazine shut and got up, heading for the stairs with ice in my voice. "You're reading too much into it. I don't care at all."

Ethan immediately assumed I was pretending not to care. He stood up and grabbed my hand, his alpha strength making it impossible to break free.

Then, under my impatient stare, he pulled an invitation from his pocket and placed it in my palm.

"Don't be mad. I'll take you to an auction tomorrow, and you can bid on whatever you want. Cheer yourself up, okay? As the pack's luna, you deserve the best."

My first instinct was to refuse.

However, after giving it some thought, I agreed.

The bond would be broken soon anyway. I could use his money to buy myself some happiness while I still can.

Aria's POVThe small space went quiet for way too long.I stared at the silent man across from me, and I could feel my chest getting tighter by the second. If I stayed here much longer, I was going to suffocate. But I couldn't just run away, so I kept trying to pump myself up in my head, telling myself I could handle this.My hands were starting to go numb when Cameron finally showed up.He took one look at the scene and knew exactly what was happening. His eyebrow shot up, and he stepped right in front of me, putting himself between us."Damien, I already told you about me and Aria. Why are you scaring her?"He'd told him already?I looked up at Cameron without thinking. When their eyes met, Damien's tone softened a bit."That was just your side of the story. This is an important mate bond we're talking about, so I needed to verify things for myself."He paused and looked at me. "My brother said you're the bravest she-wolf he's ever met, and I can see he wasn't lying."I could tell th

Aria's POVThirty thousand feet up, soft clouds drifted past the window, close enough that I could almost reach out and touch them.I'd only dozed off for a bit, but when I opened my eyes, Cameron was staring right at me without blinking.I checked my phone and saw that only two hours had passed, and I couldn't help frowning. The second he noticed my expression, Cameron quickly handed me a cup of warm water he'd already prepared, and his voice came out tight with nerves."Did you have a nightmare? Or... was it a bad dream about something?"I was thirsty anyway, so I took the cup and drank a few gulps.I stared out the window for a while, and when I finally looked back, Cameron had this pitiful, hurt look on his face."Aria, I came clean about everything. Why won't you talk to me? Are you still mad at me?"That's when I realized I hadn't said a single word to him this whole time.At first, I'd been too shocked by everything he'd told me, my mind spinning through all the things that had

Aria's POV"The first time we met wasn't at that bar," Cameron said. "It was a month before that, at a pack gathering. You came with Ethan, but halfway through the night, he ditched you to dance with some she-wolf, and you sat alone in the corner drinking by yourself. Every wolf there was gossiping about you two through the pack link."His voice remained light, as if he were telling someone else's story. But I remembered that night clearly—it was the first time Ethan had humiliated me so publicly."I didn't really remember your name until you got drunk and smashed a bottle against Ethan's shoulder. The way you swung that bottle was so clean and decisive, and the things you said cut deep—you called him 'a waste of space who couldn't even measure up to a rogue Alpha.' Every wolf in the room went dead silent. You just ignored them all, grabbed your dress, and walked out like you owned the place. I couldn't forget that moment if I tried."Heat crept up my face. I barely remembered anything

Aria's POVWhile I stood there frozen, Ethan shoved Cameron back and raised his fist to strike—but then he looked up and saw me standing on the planter. He dropped his hand immediately and pushed through the crowd toward me."Aria!" His eyes lit up the second they found mine. "Why didn't you tell me you were coming to Switzerland? Do you have any idea how worried I've been? I couldn't find you anywhere, and I thought something happened to you—"I stepped down from the planter and looked at him calmly, my expression giving nothing away."Where I go isn't your business anymore. And I didn't come here alone—I came with my fiancé.""Fiancé?" Ethan's voice sounded hollow and broken, like someone had just driven a silver blade straight through his heart.I nodded slowly and waved Cameron over. "Cameron."The aggressive Alpha energy Cameron had been radiating a second ago vanished instantly, and he jogged over to my side. He blinked up at me with those innocent eyes and took my hand. "Aria, y

Ethan's POVI knew Lily had been outside all night. She'd been circling the house for hours, but she couldn't get in. The bond between us wouldn't let her cross the threshold—not anymore. The cold autumn air seemed to knock some sense into her, at least. By dawn, she was running a low fever, and her legs kept giving out. She wouldn't stop crying, and my phone kept lighting up with her pathetic messages begging me to let her in.I ignored every single one.The next day, the second I opened the door, Lily jolted awake—she'd barely been sleeping anyway. Her eyes flew open, and when she saw me heading for the car, she scrambled to her feet and grabbed my arm. Those eyes that used to get her whatever she wanted filled with tears again, and her voice came out all broken and pitiful. "Ethan, look at my face. Aria clawed me, and she said if I told you about it, she'd make it worse. Please, you have to—"I looked at her coldly, and my voice came out flat and hard—nothing like the way I used to

  • Moonbreak My Alpha Ex-Husband's Regret After I Left   Chapter 12

Aria's POVI watched Lily push herself off the ground, one hand braced against the dirt as she struggled to her feet. She started to go after him, but then something made her pause. She whipped around to face me, and that smug little smile spread across her face."Aria, I told you before—you don't stand a chance against me. You never did."Her voice dripped with triumph, and I could feel my wolf stirring inside me.I didn't say anything. I just took my time walking down the stone steps, one slow step after another, until I was standing right in front of her.I had half a head on Lily, so when I tilted my chin down, I could see every bit of that arrogant fire burning in her eyes.My grandmother's pocket watch—the one she'd deliberately pushed into the lake. The only thing I had left of her. And that was just today. This past year, she'd humiliated me at every turn, made sure I knew my place, made sure everyone knew I was nothing.I flexed my fingers and rolled my knuckles, keeping that
