Dorian’s POV

The war room smelled like all my failures. The candles had begun to wane, I watched as the lights flickered weakly on the stone wall. I had now mastered the scratches on the tables, the sound of my own breathing and the hollow sounds I heard from sitting there all day since the arraignment. For once it felt like I had something in common with Blackthorn…its silence that never truly went quiet, it was in fact the situation of my mind, it was restless and alive at the same time with the unease that had planted itself there since her return.

I knew she would come….but I prayed she wouldn't

The bond never let me rest, I never forgot the rhythm of her heartbeat or the pull of her presence. My wolf stirred, I didn't need to turn to know who it was.
