Eve’s POV

The first thing I perceived as I opened my eyes was the smell of wet soil and iron. My wrists burned where the ropes dug into my skin, my throat ached from screaming,my legs hurt so bad, instantly reminding me of my nasty fall…only that I didn't just fall, I was pushed.Immediately, my eyes swung open as I carefully scanned the area taking my situation in as I remembered the events that had taken place before now

Tied to my left was my baby…Danny, his precious face streaked with tears

“Shhh, baby. You're okay.” I whispered to him, trying to calm my trembling breath as well. “You’re okay, mama’s here.”

A cold laugh instantly made my head snap up.

“Actually mama’s in serious trouble.”

A woman cloaked in black, rain dripping down her hood walked towards us…my eyes widened as she pushed back her hood

It was Astrid, Dorian’s Luna

“You?” my stomach twisted. “ You were behind all this?”

“You shouldn’t have come back, Eve.” she smiled faintly. “You were supposed to stay awa

  • Moonlight Knows My Name    Chapter Sixty

Eve’s POV The storm rolled in before the break of dawn, it felt like it was rubbing my foolery in my face. I absolutely hated myself for how out of control my emotions were becoming. Why was Dorian even an option in my life, why did he have a place, after everything he wasn’t supposed to have such an effect on me. I just wanted to scream but it wasn’t the only reason I hated myself at this moment, it was also because from the corner of my eyes I had seen a figure behind us but it disappeared just as quickly as I looked. I knew who it was but I had been too ashamed to move an inch, I just frozeHow do I even explain? Thunder cracked, shaking the windows of my chamber. My chest already felt heavy before I opened my eyes, something was wrong but it wasn’t in the way I was used to, the usual i-am-hated-by-Blackthorn type of wrong, it felt as though I was about to lose something important to me and my existence, and after my failed attempt at a conversation with him yesterday, I didn’t w

  • Moonlight Knows My Name    Chapter Fifty Nine

Malik’s POV The very foundation of Blackthorn was built on secrets, it has always been like this, it was something about this place that just knew just when to break you with information you didn’t request for. The old stone held whispers, absorbed grief on days it needed and then when you least wanted them, they just crept back to you. More than ever, I wish the walls had kept quiet, I wish they had protected me , instead it betrayed me, totally threw me under the bus. I didn’t mean to listen, honestly…I didn’t. I came looking for Eve when I saw how intense the conversation between her and Dorian looked, I should have just turned, but I needed to make sure she was safe, I knew I treated her like an egg, like she would break if I didn’t try to hold her together, it was something I had promised to work on.I just wanted to see her even for a minute at least before leaving to attend to my mother’s summon.I didn’t expect to find her where I did, nor did I expect her to find her standi

  • Moonlight Knows My Name    Chapter Fifty- Eight

Dorian’s POV “Alpha , urgent summon from the council.” A guard spoke from behind me I looked at Eve then my gaze shifted the ground, my hands forming fists. All they ever speak about is the respect and power that comes with being the Alpha, no one ever spoke about how much it took from you, here I was in the middle of a conversation that would either make or break me but I was still summoned. “Leave,” I snapped at the guard without giving him a responseMy gaze returned to Eve as silence clung to us. I stared at her and all I saw was the woman who walked into my war room with a mind full of questions and a heart full of hurt. I didn’t matter what any one said before me was the woman who fought death more than even with broken bones but I still could see the woman who looked at her enemies with the same fury with which she used on herselfThere was terror in her, but it wasn’t from knowing she was being chased by enemies , it was from the feeling that she was herself the enemy.“He

  • Moonlight Knows My Name    Chapter Fifty-Seven

THE WARThe world had shaken under the claws of two strong packs : The Harttman and Blackthorn, this was long before Eve saw the world for the very first time, long before Malik or Astrid, long before Dorian’s father became Alpha. No one paid it any attention when it first started, it was a whisper at first, then slowly it became a feud, it was just small and petty Then it became a war for territory, a battle for rights of hunt line then the issue of a single violated border. But pride was at stake, it soon escalated. The first blood draw was in the winter. A Harttman hunter was found dead by Blackthorn river, his throat had been slitted with a blade, his body totally drained of all the warmth and color. Blackthorn however, swore innocence, they claimed rogues had been seen around the area some days ago. Harttman did not buy it. Their retaliation came the next moon and it was bad…homes had been burned to the ground, a newborn had been stolen and killed with the body dropped by th

  • Moonlight Knows My Name    Chapter Fifty-Six

Dorian’s POV I walked around my chamber like a trapped beast, my heartbeat hammering hard inside of me. I couldn’t stop thinking of everything, Malik’s mother’s message, I thought about the urgency in it, the manner in which it was delivered, I thought about the markings, the blood, the illness, the prophecy from years ago. I kept seeing Eve’s eyes, then I dismissed it as just being stressed, but it was still replaying in my head, it looked too real to conclude it was just mere hallucination, I stopped myself from digging too deep into it because I couldn’t help the sudden pang of overwhelming guilt I felt, everything always came back to her even when she was just merely existing. “Alpha?” A soft knock interrupted my thoughts. Aiden stood reluctantly by the doorway. “Yes, Aiden?” He swallowed as he took slow steps towards me. “More wolves have been confirmed ill, the healers can’t slow down the speed of the infection, they say it’s spreading like smoke.” “Of course.” I exhaled

  • Moonlight Knows My Name    Chapter Fifty Five

Dorian’s POVI sat on my bed, my mind drifting into areas I didn't want to go into. I thought about how I left after the judgment had been passed, I wasn't sure but it mattered to her, but I still thought of it…why did I leave? Why didn't I say something to her?… anything at all? I just left, I think I was ashamed, I couldn't face her anywayAiden knocked, just a single knock, then he barged in like he had been pushed from outside, his face totally drained of color. “Alpha…” his voice broke as he tried to catch his breath. “There’s a situation.” My heart dropped. “Report!” He handed me a paper with shaking fingers, hi eyes avoided mine like I would kill him after reading the content. The paper looked stained with ink.It read: Sudden illness among pack members, the symptoms are said to be a serious cough of black ashlike substances, these symptoms are now spreading wildly. One thing about Aiden’s report, he wrote the way he felt, scattered and scared but then I read it twice ‘Bla
