Eve’s POV

The house stood as beautiful as ever, but unlike the first time I was here I didn’t know what to expect. The walls looked heavy with memories. I stopped at the gate, counting to steady my breath…

“Let’s go.” Malik said with a reassuring smile. “He’s inside, I can feel it.”

“Really?” My voice trembled.

I pushed the door open, the air smelled dust.

Then I heard a tiny sounds,

Soft footsteps slapping on the floor

My heart skipped

“Danny?” I whispered, walking further into the house

There he was standing on the couch, holding one of his little toy cars, his grin widened when he heard my voice. “Mama?”

I fell to my knees as he ran into my arms. I felt his warmth, his heartbeat, everything. He was really here.

“I’m here now baby.” I sobbed, hugging him so tightly. “Mummy’s here. I’ve got you now.”

Malik cleared his throat, muttering something I didn’t quite hear.

“ Did she hurt you?”

“No mama…she said I had to wait, you’d come for me.”
