The crescent moon pack

Lucas, a tall and muscular man in his early thirties, walked through the woods towards the pack house with a sense of purpose. As the Alpha of his small wolf pack, it was his responsibility to ensure that its members were safe and protected. As he approached the packhouse, he could hear the sounds of his pack members chatting and laughing inside.

Max, Samantha, and Simon were sitting around a table, deep in conversation. Max, the beta wolf of the pack, was listening intently while Samantha, with her blue eyes blazing, spoke passionately about something. Simon, a small-sized teenager with long hair, sat back in his chair, looking bored. He was the youngest in the pack and was an Omega just like Samantha.

There had been nothing of interest going on in their lives until lately. No, they weren’t fighting off rogues because no werewolf was foolish enough to trespass in Alpha Lucas’s territory, let alone seek a fight. However, the pack had sensed something off in the town in the past few days; a supernatural power could be felt in the atmosphere.

Something had changed in the town; the presence of other beings could be felt, but they weren’t sure what it was. Lucas had called a meeting to figure out how to tackle the problem; of course, they weren’t the only pack in town, but if anyone should pose a threat to their existence, then they would fight to protect themselves.

The pack house was located in the middle of the woods, and as Lucas entered the room, the distinct smell of wet earth and pine needles greeted him. The dim lighting cast eerie shadows on the walls and floor, giving the room an otherworldly atmosphere.

Just as he walked in, the conversation died down, and the pack members turned to greet him. Lucas greeted each of them in turn, his piercing blue eyes scanning their faces and taking note of their expressions and body language.

Lucas stood tall and imposing in the center of the packhouse, surrounded by his loyal pack members. The air was thick with tension, but there was a hint of excitement and curiosity that crackled beneath the surface.

Lucas took his seat at the head of the table and started the meeting, going through the usual business of the pack. But then, Max brought up the new girl in town.

"Were you out watching her again, Lucas?" Max asked with a smirk. That question came as a surprise because teasing and mischief were more Simon’s things. Max was the quiet and reserved one.

Lucas shot him a cold look. "I was just doing my duty, as we all know it's our pack's legacy to protect the Argent bloodline," he replied, a hint of annoyance in his voice.

Samantha tilted her head to the side, her blonde hair falling over her shoulder. "But why do you suddenly care so much about this duty now? You've never been one to follow tradition," she said.

Lucas glared at her, saying, "She was out of my reach until now. I’m curious to know why she’s returned."

The pack members exchanged looks of confusion, wondering why Emma's return was so important to their Alpha. They knew of the Argent bloodline and its significance to the supernatural world, but they had never interacted with them directly.

Lucas noticed their confusion and decided to explain. "The Argent family has a long-standing history with our kind. They were once fierce hunters, but they have since shifted their focus to protecting the balance of the supernatural world. Emma is the last of her bloodline, and it's our pack's legacy to protect her."

Max nodded in understanding, but Samantha and Simon still looked uncertain. Lucas decided it was time to give them a little history lesson.

"The Argent family has been around for centuries. They were known for their skills as hunters and their ability to take down even the most dangerous supernatural creatures. However, in recent years, they shifted their focus to protection rather than hunting. They realized that there was a balance to be maintained in the supernatural world, and they wanted to be a part of it."

Simon looked intrigued and said, "But why protect the last of the bloodline? What's so special about her?"

Lucas shrugged, "I'm not entirely sure. But there's something about her that draws me in. I can't explain it."

As the discussion continued, Lucas couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. He knew that Emma's return to town had something to do with the supernatural world, and he couldn’t quite put it together. Maybe it was time he came out of the shadows.

"I still don’t see a reason why you got to stalk her like that... You have literally followed her everywhere for the past week." Samantha grumbled.

"Come on, Sis, don’t tell me that you are jealous because Lucas seems to be hanging around the new girl more often," Simon teased.

"Shut up, Simon, or I will rip your throat out of your neck!" she warned.

"Cool, I will just heal and pop up a new throat." Simon replied, and Max chuckled. Those two were almost always fighting.

As Simon teases Samantha, she lets out a low growl before turning on her heels and walking away from the pack house. The atmosphere was tense for a moment before Lucas cleared his throat, breaking the silence.

"Don’t mind her; she’s just protective of me," Lucas said, attempting to diffuse the situation.

Max chuckled and clapped Lucas on the back. "You can say that again. She practically raised you, didn’t she?"

Lucas nodded, a fond smile gracing his lips. "Yeah, she did."

The three of them were a motley crew, but they had been together for as long as any of them could remember. Simon and Samantha were siblings and distant cousins to Lucas. Simon was a lanky boy with scruffy hair and mischievous eyes, while Samantha was a petite girl with fiery blonde hair and a fierce attitude.

They were all werewolves and pack members, but Max was a bit different. Lucas had turned him into a werewolf in a bid to save his life and afterwards made him his beta, but he was still human deep down. Although he wasn’t born as a werewolf, Max had the largest wolf amongst them, a massive brown-furred wolf even much larger than that of Alpha Lucas, but Lucas was still the strongest and most experienced amongst them.

Speaking of their wolves, just as Simon was small in human form, he had a small wolf as well. But however he was the fastest of them all, he was as swift as an eagle and always served as the pack’s spy and messenger. He was very jovial and mischievous, but still someone Lucas could rely on if there was a need for it.

As Lucas sat in the packhouse, his thoughts wandered to the past. He remembered his mother telling him about the Argent bloodline and its importance to the pack. He had always thought it was just a myth, but now he wasn’t so sure. From his observations, the strange supernatural energy in the atmosphere had surfaced in the town just a few days before Emma’s appearance.

He shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts. He couldn’t afford to get distracted, especially with the pack’s safety at stake. He ended the meeting and dismissed the members.

The Crescent Moon Pack was one of the few packs that have been able to survive civilization and the elimination of their kind. Although the pack now consisted of just a thirty-four-year-old Alpha, a half-human Beta, a mischievous teenage boy, and a hot-headed twenty-two-year-old lady, they still kept the pack alive and protected their territory with trust and loyalty between them.
