CHAPTER 12: AT A FIX.

BARAKAR'S POV.

The morning always seemed normal. Getting up from bed was always a hassle for me, knowing that it was the same old routine I'd face. Nothing thrilling, nothing that would get my blood pumping.

I felt more alive during the war. Yes, I led my army to fight for the peace of the land, but in all honesty, I wasn't in the fight just to achieve peace. I was there for the thrill of it.

My wolf, Blood Lust, as popularly known by my pack and my foes, especially, never felt more alive than during a confrontation. Now, he just lies around, being sloppy. His mood affects mine.

That's why I go on hunting trips often. And it was on such a hunting trip that I stumbled upon Raya being attacked by the rogues. I couldn't have been more grateful at the time for running into such an occasion.

As I got dressed, putting on my signet ring on the middle finger of my left hand, along with the other rings, two be precise, on my other hand, I heard a knock on my door.

CHAPTER 14: HEATED MOMENT.RAYA'S POV. As I walked out of the throne room, being escorted by Ravna and the guards, I turned and looked at King Barakar. He showed compassion! Even though I appealed for mercy on behalf of my attacker - Gale, I still expected heads to roll. Tales I had heard about the King made me expect the latter. So seeing him do the opposite gladdened my heart. 'He's not as bad as they say,' I thought to myself, making me smile mildly. I was taken to the other wing of the Iron Den. That is where the King's quarter is located. I saw that its design and plan was not much different from the Luna's quarters. It was just a bit darker and dingier than the Luna's. There was little light being let in. Just the beautifully decorated torches provided illumination. Well, werewolves see quite well in the dark. That's some of them, especially the rogues, who operated mostly at night. One of the rites of passage for maturing werewolves is that they are put to the test by bein

CHAPTER 13: PROVIDING ANSWERS.KING BARAKAR'S POV.Looking to the side as I pondered for a bit, I could still feel the peering eyes of Raya and Lord Finch. Both were waiting expectantly for a response from me. I hated being put in a situation where they all expected me to consent to their suggestions, and do right by them. I am the bloody King of the five kingdoms, and Alpha of the Iron Claw pack for crying out loud! I should decide whatever I want.Nevertheless, I owed them a response. I needed to make a choice.Logically, I'd yield to Lord Finch's proposal and punish the human for daring such a thing, which has never happened in a very long time in the Iron Den. However, I found myself in a strangely forgiving disposition. I guess Raya's nature must have begun to rub off on me, affecting me, somehow, in just the short while we've known each other. For the first time in a very long time, I found myself conflicted. I am hardly ever conflicted when it comes to such matters that have

CHAPTER 11: LIFE ATTEMPT.RAYA'S POV.I emerged from the bathtub, stepping out of it, and a maid quickly wrapped a large towel around me, her face toward a different direction. I wiped her body clean with the towel, then I proceeded to the bedroom. I saw that a new dress was laid on the bed. It had already been picked out for me by the other maid, who didn't join the others in the bathroom. The two maids who bathed me helped me get dressed, especially with tying the corset behind my back. Then one of them went ahead to doll my face with the accessories that were made available. Every stroke of the brush she used was gentle and tender, but the outcome was intriguing. She definitely knew her craft. Within a short moment, she went on to transform me into someone I was proud of looking at. Not that I was ugly, anyway. But, she helped bring out what was already within, which lay dormant from years of self-pity and self-doubt.Whilst the maid was engrossed with her duties, through the d

CHAPTER 10: UNUSUAL SPECIAL TREATMENT.Unlike Ravenhill, I woke up in the morning peacefully, not jerking in fright. The night was freezing cold as far as I was concerned. Despite the thick furry blanket I wrapped myself in like a newborn babe, I still felt the intensity of the cold. Sitting up on the queen-size bed, I realized why the cold was that intense: the fire in the fireplace had gone out. The fireplace provided a great deal of warmth, reducing the cold within. Getting up, I wore the dress I had on the previous day which I hung on a chair. As was my morning routine, I walked up to the window and opened it. Instead of sunlight, I was hit with a mild gust of freezing wind. Shivering, I quickly shut the window and walked away. What a way to remind me that I was now in Winterhill - my new home.I then heard a knock on the door. So I walked over and unlocked it. I had shut it from within, restricting entry from anyone. As I opened the door, I met Kieran and the maids. "My Lady,

  • Moonlit Legacy: Claimed By The Alpha King    STAYING WITHIN BORDERS.

CHAPTER 9: STAYING WITHIN BORDERS.Walking down the streets of Winterhill, a man dressed in thick furry clothes walked in the cold of the shimmering night typical of the city. His breath was visible as he panted with every strenuous step he took on the snowy path.Seeing fewer folks on the streets at such a time of the day was the norm. Folks were mostly home, enjoying the warmth they derived within the walls of their homes, while others sought other less chivalrous ways to keep themselves warm. The man arrived at a building which bore the sign "Dana's Pub," and he pushed open the door. He was hit with the loud noise of chattering, laughter, music, and of course ale.Standing by the door, he sighed satisfactorily, drawing in the sweaty stench of the locals that were within in their droves. Smiling, he walked over to a table and pushed aside a man who had passed out and sat in his seat. He grabbed the man's half-filled cup and chugged down the drink. He clicked his tongue as he moane
