Chapter 4

Averie lay down on her soft bed in her room. This had been her room since she was a child. She remembered her mom singing her a lullaby when she couldn't sleep because she always had strange dreams from a young age. However, those weird and creepy dreams had stopped after her mother's death. She believed that her mom had fought off the God of nightmares, causing it to stop visiting her dreams.

It had been eight years since the last time she had dreamt of those frightening creatures, and she couldn't even recall what her dream was about. All she could remember was that it had been very scary, and her mom had stayed beside her until she fell asleep.

Averie's mom passed away when she was eight years old due to heart failure. Her mom had always been sick and frequently stayed in the hospital for treatment. During that time, her mom couldn't accompany her to sleep, which resulted in her experiencing nightmares every time she slept.

"Mom, I'm here again in this house. Dad kicked me out of our house because of an edited video. I'm sure Corazon was behind that video because she wants Dad to kick me out. But I don't have evidence, and Dad won't believe me either," she spoke to her mom, staring at the ceiling as if her mother were there, speaking to her.

She got out of bed and went to her closet. She wanted to take a shower because her body felt sticky. While selecting the clothes she would wear, she heard a noise from outside her room. It sounded like a dog howling. Suddenly, she remembered the demon werewolf that had attacked her earlier. Her eyes widened, and her heart raced, pounding as if horses were racing inside her chest.

She walked slowly and approached the window, cautiously peering outside at the garden. Her heart was pounding intensely. What if the demon werewolf had followed her? The arrogant and annoying Lance had already left, so there was no one to help her if the demon werewolf appeared. Ernest and Marvin couldn't defeat such a beast since they were just ordinary people.

Unbeknownst to Averie, Lance was standing outside her house, looking up at her room. He had just finished killing a demon werewolf that had attempted to climb up to Averie's room. He knew that the remaining demon werewolves wouldn't stop until they obtained what they wanted.

The demon werewolves had been hiding for many years, but now that they sensed the power of Avaria, they had begun to emerge. Lance knew he had to stop them at any cost, or else the world would plunge into darkness once again.

Since Averie didn't see a single shadow of a demon werewolf in the garden, she felt relieved and decided to proceed with her plan to freshen up her body by taking a shower. However, she soon realized that she couldn't shower due to her fractured arm, so she settled for wiping her face and body with a wet towel after undressing. Just as she was finishing wiping herself, she heard someone inside her room. She thought it was Ernest, believing he had brought food for her since she had asked him to prepare some and bring it to her room.

She quickly finished wiping her body and then put on her bathrobe before opening the door. To her surprise, she found Ernest standing inside her room but facing the wall, standing just like a robot.

"Ernest? What are you doing? Did you bring my food?" she asked, but Ernest didn't respond or move from his position. She found his behavior strange but she just assumed he didn't want to face her due to her being dressed in a bathrobe.

Averie noticed that the door was open, so she walked over to close it. However, when she turned around after closing the door, her eyes widened and she let out a scream upon seeing Ernest was already facing her and his face had transformed into that of a demon werewolf.

The werewolf growled menacingly and leaped towards her. Averie didn't hesitate. She quickly opened the door and rushed out of her room, desperately calling out Marvin's name.

Hearing Averie's panicked voice, Marvin immediately came to her aid. Concern showing on his face, he asked, "What's going on, Averie?"

"A demon werewolf is inside the house, Marvin! It has taken control of your father's body!" she answered, revealing the horrifying truth.

"What on earth are you talking about, Averie? Are you still dreaming?" Marvin scoffed at Averie's claim. He knew she had been dreaming about scary things and creatures since she was young so he couldn't bring himself to believe what she was saying. "Just look at yourself. Go back to your room and fix yourself because you-"

"Didn't you hear me? There's a demon werewolf in the house, and it has taken over your father's body!" she exclaimed, shouting at him. "We need to get out of this house and seek help!" Averie suggested although it was hard for them to reach their neighbors since they lived quite far away from them.

She grasped his hand, ready to pull him out of the house, but he simply brushed her hand aside.

"Calm down, Averie. I think you should consider taking some sleeping pills to help you sleep more peacefully. And-" Marvin couldn't finish his sentence as his eyes widened, fixated on something behind her. "There's a m-monster b-behind you, A-Averie," he stammered.

Averie slowly turned around and saw Ernest, who had now completely transformed into a demon werewolf. The sinister creature moved towards them with an apparent taunting demeanor.

"I tried to warn you, but you didn't believe me! Now we need to!"

Before Averie could finish her sentence, Marvin had already dashed ahead, leaving her behind. She immediately followed him, shrieking in terror. Fear coursed through her body, causing her knees to quake, but her survival instincts compelled her to keep running.

The two of them screamed once more as the demon werewolf suddenly surged forward, blocking their path. Averie instinctively turned in the opposite direction, prompting Marvin to do the same.

To overtake Averie, Marvin unintentionally tugged on her bathrobe causing it to be torn. However, the demon werewolf quickly seized Marvin's head and devoured him, as Averie, now sprawled on the floor with her bathrobe torn, exposed half of her naked upper body. But in the face of the imminent danger, the state of her body became inconsequential, for the werewolf cared only about satiating its hunger by consuming her.

Averie believed that her life was coming to an end. As she teetered on the brink of death, her father's image flashed in her mind. The realization hit her that she would never see her father again. Seeing the demon werewolf about to pounce on her, she closed her eyes and resigned herself to her impending demise. However, if she managed to escape this dire situation, she vowed to honor her father by being obedient to him.

Suddenly, Averie heard the demon werewolf emit a groan as if it was hurting. She quickly opened her eyes to see the situation. To her surprise, she discovered the demon werewolf was lying lifeless on the floor, headless, and then its body suddenly scattered into the air. Lance once again comes to her rescue. Her eyes widened in disbelief. Yet, her surprise was not solely due to witnessing the headless demon werewolf. She was also shocked because Lance had seen her naked body. She couldn't decide which was more frightening: being devoured by a demon werewolf or seeing her body naked by an arrogant and annoying man who had become her unexpected savior?
