Chapter 2

Kaitlyn went rigid. She thought she had misheard him but when she replayed it over and over in her head, she could confirm that was exactly what he said.

She raised her head to face him and he just stared back at her with an eyebrow raised, waiting for a response.

"No" she finally replied. "No I don't, I don't even go to clubs, it was a one-time thing," she told him.

"So your first time going to a club and you open your legs for a stranger," He said bluntly. It might have sounded like a question but it wasn't.

Kaitlyn's eyes went round and he just stared back at her with a blank face. "I was drunk" she muttered, averting her gaze. "I usually don't have one-night stands" she added and you could sense the discomfort in her tone.

"Neither do I" He responded. "My point is, I won't tolerate you coming late to work, especially not on Mondays" he continued, slowly swiveling left and right on his chair.

"Ok," Kaitlyn answered, almost in a whisper.

Once she was out of his office, tears flooded her eyes. He talked to her like she was a slut and she didn't like it one bit. She knew she only slept with him because she was drunk. She would have never done anything like that if she was in her right senses.

She went home and told Sarah all about it. Sarah suggested ignoring him but that was far from possible.

About two weeks passed and Kaitlyn still couldn't look Tyrell in the eye. Everything was so awkward. Everything he walked by, her heart skipped a beat and she got mental pictures from that night.

Tyrell on the other hand didn't seem the slightest bit bothered. He acted like nothing happened between them. He acted so different from the night they hooked up, it was like he wasn't even the same person.

It was another Monday and the night before, Kaitlyn and Sarah had stayed up really late watching TV. They had binge-watched a series they had both been missing out on because of work and now, Kaitlyn was regretting it. She was now at work and she was finding it hard to stay awake. She placed her head on her desk to rest a little and before she knew it, she dozed off.

In just a few minutes, she jolted awake to the sound of someone tapping on her desk. She sharply raised her head and immediately came face to face with Tyrell who was now sitting on the chair on the other side of her desk.

He stared her down and she averted her gaze, her heart pounding hard against her chest. She knew it was a bad idea to stay up so late watching TV.

"Sleeping on the job?" He cocked up an eyebrow.

"I'm sorry, I was tired" she replied in a low tone.

"Is there a reason why you can never look me in the eye?" He asked and she sharply turned to face him. "Do I frighten you?" he questioned in a tone that definitely frightened her.

He never smiled and he had a really cold personality. Many people might even describe him as misanthropic. Of course, he frightened her.

"No, it's just... uh..." she stammered, struggling to keep eye contact with him. "No" she finally said, lying straight to his face.

His eyes slightly narrowed before he got up from his seat. "I need a report on our rival companies in the city," he said.

"Ok," she replied, staring straight ahead, again avoiding his gaze.

"I need it before you leave this evening," He told her and then he gently placed a hand under her jaw to raise her head to face him. "Also, your button is undone" he added right before walking away and stepping into his office.

Kaitlyn sharply looked down at her shirt and it was true. Her first two buttons were undone, exposing a lot more cleavage than she wanted to. She quickly buttoned up and then wondered if he had been staring at it the entire time because why didn't he just tell her immediately?

She wondered for a while before getting to work on the report he asked for.

Time flew quickly and soon, it was 5 pm. It was Kaitlyn's best time of the day because that was when working hours ended and she always couldn't wait to leave, especially now that Tyrell was her boss.

She stayed a couple more minutes to finish up the report and soon she was done. She quickly sprang up from her seat and headed towards Tyrell's door.

Forgetting to knock, she stepped into his office, clutching the file that contained the report.

"I'm done with the report and..." She was saying but she instantly lost her words when he raised his head to glare at her.

He had been staring at his phone and he looked really upset. His eyes blazed with anger and this sent Kaitlyn's heart racing.

"Did I say you could come in?" He asked.

"No" Kaitlyn shook her head and immediately turned back to the door. She stepped outside the office and after knocking twice, he told her to come in.

She didn't know why he was so angry and frankly, she didn't want to know. She didn't want to give him a reason to transfer his aggression.

She stepped back into the office and walked straight to his desk to drop the file. She just wanted to submit the report and leave but as she set the file down on his desk, he grabbed her wrist. She sucked in a sharp breath, trying not to shake with fear. She looked down at his hand grabbing her wrist and then at his anger-filled eyes.

He got up from his seat and stood directly in front of her. She stared down at her feet, breathing shakily. He had backed her to his desk and placed his hands on both her sides, trapping her.

He lifted a hand to her jaw and raised her head to face him. She struggled to make eye contact with him and tried to steady her breathing.

"Never come into my office without knocking" he basically growled at her.

"I didn't mean to disrespect you, I just forgot to knock, I'm really sorry" She apologized, tears forming in her eyes.

"Sir," he said, almost a whisper and Kaitlyn stared back at him in confusion. "I'm really sorry sir" he corrected her.

Kaitlyn gulped before speaking. "I'm really sorry sir"

He used his thumb to wipe off the single teardrop that had fallen from her eye. His gaze then dropped to her lips as he slowly dragged his thumb over them.

She felt relaxed under his touch and her breathing steadied.

He sharply shifted his gaze back to her eyes and he stared into them for a while. "I don't forgive you Kaitlyn" was all he said before crashing his lips down to hers.
