My eyes gazing, at the retreating legs before me. I watched on powerlessly, until they were gone from my sight, vanishing between the snow-covered trees. “Mrs Daniels. I am happy to inform you that you are three weeks pregnant.” The doctor said with a bright smile, and Harriet let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding. “Oh!” She breathed out, her heart racing with joy and excitement. With a marriage like her and Damien’s, the last thing she could wish for was a child, but God had other plans for her. “T-thank you, doctor. Thank you so much.” She cried as she placed her hand on her chest, unable to contain her happiness. She could not wait to tell her husband, Damien, this great news. As Harriet hurried to leave the hospital, all she could think about was how this child in her womb would be a turning point for her and Damien’s failing marriage. As much as she hated to admit it, it was true. In their three years of marriage, Harriet has never felt the joy of marriage. What did she expect? She had always been in love with Damien since childhood, but it was never the case for him. He never looked at her with love and was only with her because of his parents. As much as she hated to admit, she knew that their marriage was bound to fail, but things might be different now with the child in her womb. It had to be a miracle. Harriet entered her car and sat for a while, fiddling with her phone as she dialed Damien’s number. Butterflies swarmed in her tummy, and her face glowed as a bright smile stuck to them. She waited for a while, but still no response from him. She dropped the phone. It was a weekday, so he must have been loaded with much office work. She was used to making excuses for him, but when she was about to drive off, Damien called her back. Feeling jittery about telling him, Harriet picked up the call. “D-damien. H-how are you doing? Are you at the house? I need to tell you something.” She bit her lips nervously and played with her fingers, hoping for a small talk before she told him about her pregnancy, but she should have known not to expect too much from him. “Where are you? I also have something to tell you: Come home…now.” His tone was low and cold like always, and before she could ask him what the problem was, the line beeped, signifying that he had ended the call. Harriet felt a tight knot in her chest at his cold behavior. Why was she even surprised? He had always been this way. Why did she expect him to change suddenly? She felt tears brimming in her eyes, but she quickly blinked it away. The last thing she wanted was her mood to get ruined after hearing such fantastic news. So, she promptly ignited the car engine and drove off. Throughout the ride, she wondered what Damien wanted to talk about, as he never paid her much attention. As she drove in, she noticed that Damien’s car was already parked, meaning he was home. She took one look at the pregnancy test documents and assured herself that everything would be fine before going into the house. When she arrived, Damien was seated in the living room with a frown. She had never seen him smile unless he was with his parents or…Evelyn. All she ever got from him was a frown, scowl, or a look of disgust. “Damien. When did you get home?” She asked, putting a smile on her face. But she was heartbroken once again, and a harsh glare from Damien greeted her. Damien stood up from where he sat and approached her. For some reason that she couldn’t understand, his eyes were red with anger. “I want a divorce!” Her husband, Damien Daniels, towered over her as he yelled, his body shaking in anger. “W-what are you talking about? A divorce? Why?” Harriet’s voice broke, and her chest tightened, pain enveloping her. She couldn’t believe her ears. Why was Damien suddenly bringing up a divorce? What had she done? “Just sign the paper. It is good for both of us.” Damian said coldly. Harriet didn’t know what could be wrong and she would not end their marriage like that but Damian refused to talk further. “How could you tell me that without a proper reason? I won’t sign it unless you tell me why.” Harriet was in a breakdown. She was just about to share great news with her husband but things took a dramatic turn suddenly. “I really want to end this marriage peacefully for the sake of our families’ relationship, but you just won’t let me, right?” said Damien with a sneer. Damien drew his eyes at her and chuckled darkly, showing his anger. His eyes held nothing but hatred for her. “You think I wouldn’t find out that you have been sleeping with my brother?” He said.Zelena. With my head on Tobias’s chest and the warmth of his body washing over me, his steady heartbeat was slowly lulling me to sleep. That peace was broken when a group of wolves came running through the village, stopping at the bottom of the porch steps. I stood up and walked to the railing, only for Tobias to push me behind him and growl down at the gathered wolves. The largest of the group, a brownish orange wolf, changed form and stood up. I recognise this guy, he’s the same age as Gunner and me, and a friend of Gunner’s. He had been making his way up in the ranks over the past few months. Daniel, I think his name is. I stepped around Tobias and looked down at the muscular Were. His blonde hair sat in a shaggy mess of curls atop his head, and his dark hazel eyes looked back up at me. He was quite tall, with a slim frame sporting a lot of defined muscles. “You’re Daniel, right?” I asked him. He bowed his head and placed his hand over his heart. “
Epilogue.Zelena.My brain is ready to explode. Firstly, I find out that I'm pregnant, which of course I'm thrilled about now. Admittedly, I was terrified at first, but it’s hard to be scared when so many people around you are happy and excited. Their excitement has rubbed off on me. Roe has already started arranging a Litter Party, which is apparently like a baby shower. She hasn’t let me see it, but I know she is working on a nursery as well. Nat has been a constant at my side. Always happy to talk babies and throwing ridiculous baby names at me. Something is going on with Nat, I can’t put my finger on it yet. She has been avoiding talking about herself, which is weird and alarming all on its own. Each time I try to talk about her, she swings the topic back around to me or babies. Maybe she is just lonely, with Smith taking on most of the Beta duties, he is barely around. I understand if that’s what is bothering her, I miss him too. Smith is m
Lunaya.“You’re pregnant” I blurted out.Zelena choked and sat up straight. Her wide eyes finding mine immediately.“Excuse me?” she squeaked. Gunner snaked his arm further around her waist and pulled her into him closer. A protective and possessive motion. Something I remember all too well with Micha. His protective instincts increased tenfold. He was a warrior, so he was already very protective. But the second he could sense hispup,he wouldn’t let anyone get close to me without a warning growl. Gunner’s an Alpha, so his instincts would be higher still.
Lunaya.Alyse and I were huddled in the corner booth, stuffing our faces with bread and lukewarm stew. Alyse had her legs draped over mine so that she was nearly in my lap. I had a piece of bread hanging between my teeth as I waved it in front of Alyse’s mouth. She chuckled and snapped her teeth at the bread, pulling it from my mouth. I laughed and grabbed either side of her face, I pulled her to me and pressed my lips to her cheek. The kitchen door flew open and in walked Gunner with Zelena in his arms. She had her arms and legs wrapped around him like a koala. Alyse and I went silent as we watched them enter. Gunner paused and flicked his eyes to mine. He quickly looked to Alyse and then down at the bowls in front of us, before continuing on into the kitchen. I sat up straight, expecting that he would put Zelena down so I could see her. But instead, he kept one arm under her backside and carried her with him to the fridge. Zelena had her head nuzzled into the crook of
Lunaya.“Beta Elaine” a strong and velvety male voice called from behind us. We turned around to see the gigantic bald Were towering over us, staring hungrily at Elaine.“I wish to introduce myself” he said smoothly,“Very well” Elaine grumble
Zelena. My body feels like I have rolled down a tall mountain, hitting every bump, every boulder, every pointed and sharp surface along the way. Everything felt tight and constricted. My stomach had turned in on itself, and even just the thought of rolling over brought me more pain. I strug
Lunaya.“I will go find the others then” I said as I looked to Elaine. She nodded her head and backed out the door. Cleo was laying on the ground, still in her burgundy and grey wolf form, while Phoebe leaned up against a tree.“Phoebe, you will stay with me and we w
Lunaya.Sleep was near impossible, I think I may have drifted off for a total of two hours. The anticipation of the day to come was too much for my brain to handle. The things that Astéri was saying, the things that she said she did and was able to do. Only one other daughter has eve
