“Ladies and gentlemen as we start our descent ensure your seat backs and tray tables are in a full upright position. Make sure your seat belt is securely fastened and all carry-on luggage is stowed underneath the seat in front or in the over head cabins” The flight attendant said as the plane prepared for landing.Arlene Goodman who was one of the passengers on the Swift-lance 8818 air craft quickly checked herself to be sure she was ready for the descent of the plane. Few moments later the passenger address system went off again with an announcement from the pilot.“Flight attendants prepare for landing please, and cabin crew, please take your seats for landing.Another announcement was made prior to that of the pilot. “Ladies and gentlemen, we have been cleared to land at the airport. Please make sure your seatbelts are fastened. Flight attendants please pass around the cabin for final compliance check and pick up any glasses or cups. Thank you.” The attendant said with his foghorn

Arlene jerked up from her bed and realised it was all a dream, “saved by the bell” she kept muttering. until she noticed her roommate Olivia Natu, cowering in a corner close to the door. she was wrapped up in a blanket. It happened that while Arlene was having her nightmare, Olivia lived through it in reality. She hadn’t slept since Arlene started screaming. Also, Arlene made weird body movements. When her attempts to wake Arlene failed, she ran to a corner with her blanket over her face.“Liv are you okay?” Arlene asked as she stood up from her bed and made her way towards her roommate.When she was almost close to Olivia, someone landed a heavy knock on their door and it was accompanied by Sarah’s tiny voice.“Liv, is everything okay? I came as soon as I saw your call.Olivia struggled to get her hands out of the blanket. As soon as she did, she pulled the door open to reveal Sarah’s face. Olivia sprang up and held Sarah’s hand.“Get me the fuck away from this weirdo” She said.Sarah

Arlene was in the classroom scribbling something in her book while her mates were in the theatre auditioning for the new play. She kept writing till she was interrupted by Derek, who snuck up on her from behind. She screamed at first, and then sighed when she saw he was the one.“Don’t ever do that again, you scared the shit out of me” she said with furrowed brows.“Come on, it wasn’t even that deep or can’t you take a joke?”He replied, and she continued with what she was writing without uttering another word to him.When he noticed she wasn’t going to say a thing, he went on to ask about the auditions and why she didn’t want to be part of it. The library was as silent as a grave yard, and a pin drop would be as loud as a siren blasting through a megaphone on a police vehicle or an ambulance. Arlene peered at Derek from her table as she waited for him to respond to the text she sent. Derek looked at his phone when he got a notification, then he shifted his gaze to Arlene, and then turned back to face his book. It became avid to Arlene that Derek wouldn’t reply any of her texts so she stood up and walked over to where he was seated.Even when she got to his table, Derek kept mute like she wasn’t seated in front of him.“Are you going to keep ignoring me because of yesterday?” She asked whispering.Derek just looked up for a moment and continued with his book, and then he replied saying.“What do you want Arlene, can’t you see I’m busy with my assignment?”Arlene rolled her eye and muttered the word sorry to him, and he replied by saying he couldn’t hear her clearly. “Look I said I’m sorry already, I know I made a mistake ye

The final bell for the day went off, Arlene took her bag and headed for the school park, she needed an open space to get inspired for her new book. She had a lot to write, and she hadn’t read her new book yet. She met Derek on the hallway with his friends, in hurry she waved and continued walking to the park, she had a lot to tell him but it would be rude to interrupt their discussion. When she got to the park, it was almost empty; they were only two students present, a male and female. They were either having a study group time, or they were lovers who came to explore the calm serene of the park, Arlene thought. When she picked a seat, she walked to it through the carpet grass littered with dead brown leaves which made crunch sounds as she stepped on them.As soon as she got to the seat, she sat down and placed her bag on the round table in front of her, and then she took out her note. “So you are telling me that you hung out with Cody?” Derek said covering the large table mirror that stood in between Arlene and Olivia’s bed with a cloth.“Really?” Arlene asked raising a brow at Derek.She had narrated her ordeal with the ghost girl and the lady in the mirror, and the only thing he could pick out was the fact she was out having dinner with Cody. “What? That’s something interesting too, he wants something from you but I’m not really sure what it is,” he said in defence.“But then back to your ghost friends, you said you noticed a similar symbol on their cloaks, can you remember what exactly you saw?” he asked again.Arlene nodded and reached for a paper then she proceeded to sketch down the symbol she had seen. It was a triple upside down triangle which Derek said he hadn’t seen in any of the books he had read.“It seems strange but I think I can still pull it off, I just need to research more,” he said.Arlene thanked Derek for helping and coming over to take care
