Chapter 13

ANASTASIA’s POV

Three days have passed and my stay at Alexis' condo is over. My thighs no longer hurt and I can walk straight.

I was in the living room, sitting while watching television. Alexis is gone now because he entered the office. He said that he would just take care of something for a while and go home immediately.

He just left and I was sitting in the living room. I'm so bored and I want to leave but because I promised him that when he comes home I'm still here, so I'll wait for him.

While I was watching, suddenly the doorbell rang here in his condo. My forehead furrowed because Alexis didn't use the doorbell.

I stayed here for three days so I knew he wasn’t really using the doorbell. But I still stood up and opened the door.  I never peeked at who was outside. I'm used to this habit.

 When I opened the door I was stunned and nervous. I could not move and speak. So is the person in front of me. She seemed to be wondering if she knew me. And when she remembered who I was, her eyes suddenly widened.

"Anastasia?"  She whispered in astonishment. "Is that you, darling?"

"Aunt Helena," I said her name.

Aunt Helena is the mother of my boss, Alexis.

“Why are you here? And why do you look like that? What happened? Does my son already know who you really are?” The woman asked in confusion.

I gulped. I don’t want her to know my reason.

"Come in first, Aunt Helena." I eased the door open for her to enter.

When she entered, she went straight to the living room and sat down on the chair. I was still at the door and just looking at her. I'm nervous now that I'm facing Alexis' mom.

"What are you still doing there, Anastasia?" Aunt Helena asked with a frown. “Come here, darling. Tell me what my son did to you this time.”

I slowly walked over to her and sat in the chair in front of her. I placed both my hands on top of my feet and folded them. My hands are nervous and sweaty.

“Now answer me, Ana. Why are you here at my son's condo? And why are you wearing his clothes?”

I immediately closed my eyes as I bit my lower lip.

"I’m so sorry, Aunt Helena. I know you are ordering me not to be with Alexis— I mean my boss.”

“I don’t think you still call my son boss if you are wearing his clothes. And I'm sure something happened between you and my son. Am I right, Ana? Did my son force you to sleep with him?”

I shook my head quickly and I heard her take a deep sigh like she was relieved of something. "No. Alexis didn’t force me to have anything happen to us. I wholeheartedly agreed.”

“Why, Anastasia? You know what will happen to you when my son gets bored with you,” She said. “You are an amazing woman. So I can't understand why you agreed to let something happen to you with my son! We know Alexis will just ruin your life.”

I can hear the voice of Mrs. Helena Callahan is frustrated. But this is what I chose.

"Because I love Alexis. I love your son, Aunt Helena"  I confess to her. "I know you won't like me for your son." I bowed my head to hide the tears. “But I would like to beg you not to forbid me to love him. I know I don't fit in with someone like Alexis. But, please, let me help him and bring him back to the former Alexis.  I know what I'm asking for is too much but please allow me. And when he's okay and well, I'll leave him. I promise.”

I don’t know if Alexis’ mother will agree but this is the only way I know for me to continue taking revenge on him. Even to lie about how I really feel. I know it's bad to lie but I have no other way. And I know it’s not love I feel for Alexis but hatred and anger at him for killing my sister.

"Does my son know that you are also his secretary?" Mrs. Callahan asked after a long silence.

I shook.  I haven't told him yet."

“Why?  Do you know that my son hates keeping secrets from him?”

“It's the same as your reason for hiring me to pretend to be his nerdy secretary. I wanna help him. I want him to change. And the only reason I can help him is to love him.”

Mrs. Callahan was silent at what I said.  So I had a chance to continue.

“I hope you don't mention this to Alexis about me being his secretary. Let me tell him voluntarily. I promise I will also tell him who I really am.”

"In that case, what name did you introduce to my son?"

I looked into Aunt Helena's eyes before I answered. "Asia."

"Asia from Anastasia, am I right?"  I nodded in response. "And at least you didn't lie about your name," she said and smiled at me. “I want to be angry with you because you lied to my son but as you said you love Alexis and you can do everything for his recovery. Then, I’m begging you, Asia. I hope you take care of my son and don't hurt him. My son has been hurting for a long time. And as his mother, it hurts me to see him unhappy.  So I agree, as long as you don't hurt my son. Love him, take care of him, help him. Do all of this to make him a better man for you.”

I immediately hugged her and thanked her. And that was the scene Alexis saw.

“Mommy? What are you doing here?  And why is Asia crying?”

I turned to Alexis with eyebrows raised.  He suddenly hugged me as if he was protecting me from his mother.

Aunt Helena rolled her eyes because of her son's behavior. "I didn't hurt your girlfriend," she said.

I immediately hugged Alexis to hide the redness of my cheek on his wide chest.

"Then, why is she crying?"

"We were just talking, weren't we, Asia?"

I glanced at Aunt Helena and she had a wide smile on her lips. When I realized how Alexis and I were, I quickly left in his arms.

"Excuse me."

My footsteps were fast and big as I entered Alexis's room. When I closed the door, I jumped with excitement but I immediately winced at the sudden pain between my thighs.

“Goddess! What are you doing, Anastasia!” I whispered to myself and shook. I hurried into the bathroom where I had dried my clothes earlier.

When I was sure it was dry I quickly dressed. I need to get home to my condo first.
