Strange attitude

Emily's point of view:

The next thing to happen was that he led me to one of the seats, as he was helping me to sit like a gentleman. The whole scene got my heart shaking, as that karma was finally on my side. Yet, I started doubting the reasons he was treating me that way. I mean, the man who was threatening Lucia has nothing to do with the gentleman in front of me.

...............

" What's your name?" He asked, and I answered right away, since the last thing I want is to piece him off. " Emily... My name is Emily!"

" Mine is Daniel ... Daniel Knight!" He answered a question that I didn't ask.

" Pleased to know ... Mr, knight!" This was all I could come up with since I didn't know what to say.

" Please, just call me Daniel Emily!" He said and I only nodded my head.

" So tell me where are you from?" He asked, and I got a bit curious about his aim. So, I answered him with another question.

" What do you care for?"

I expected him to get angry at my attitude, especially that he was nothing but nice to me - which seems to be unusual for him.

" Nothing to do, I'm just curious because you remind me of someone I met a while ago at the California Diamond Bar !"

At the right moment, I started feeling a bit awkward since I really was from California, Diamond Bar. So, I decided not to say a thing. Not before he asked again.

" Still waiting for your answer."

" I'm from Ohio! I moved on to New York City a while ago." I lied, not being sure if I wanted to tell him the truth. He also seemed not to believe me.

" Sure about that?" He asked, and before I answered him, Lucia's presence saved me. It was my first time ever being happy to see her. I can't say that she has the same feeling. Her face was all about hatred while serving me.

The exact look on her face brought terror inside of me, it's probably going to be my last time stepping here. She's going to fire me, and I will lose my only source of money.

" Don't worry about it here!" Exclaim Daniel as he noticed the terror on my face." She can't do anything to you."

" You think?" I asked him, not sure that he knew what was talking about." I'm sure she's going to kick me out of here the moment you leave." I told him honestly what I was thinking about. He chuckled as he stated,

" If you're that sure about it, then why not leave with dignity?"

" Easy for you to say, people like me who can hardly afford their living don't think much about dignity." I ran my head through my hair before I finally told him. " Life can not always be fair!"

I don't know if it's real, or if I was just making it up, but for a while, I felt as if he was taken by what I've said.

" Tell me about your educational level first!"

For some reason, this exact question made me feel shy. So instead of answering, I decided to ask a question this time.

" I don't see the reason why you keep asking me all these questions. How about you tell me about this sudden interest you have in me?"

With a creepy smile on his face, he answered.

" In case you forgot... I am the one who asks here. All you have to do is to answer."

Challenging him would be more than just a stupid idea. I decided to answer him while telling the truth, though I hate it. " I stopped before reaching high school."

" Interesting!" He says while studying my actions. " Why?"

" Do I have to answer?" I asked him. I mean, those are private matters; and I'm not feeling comfortable sharing such matters.

" Indeed, you have to?" He simply said, and I was like " Why?"

He again repeated that he was the one asking, and I shall only answer.

" My mother died, and my father started a new life, which I'm not part of. So, instead of growing up in an orphanage I just ran away looking for my own path." I told him the truth. I mean, part of the truth.

My answer seemed to wake something inside of him. He then switched from the gentleman he was pretending to be to a monster.

His hand captured my wrist, while his eyes started screaming danger before he started.

" If there's something I hate the most, it would be liars. Next time when I ask you about something, I wouldn't want to hear anything less than the truth." I wasn't telling him any lies. I mean, that kind of happened.

" You're hurting me!" I told him, then he came to notice his action. He then let go of me as he decided on coming back to his modern self.

" I do apologize for my behavior, but I sort of lose it whenever I come across someone who's trying to fool me."

All I did was to keep rubbing my hands, not saying anything else. Again, he was the one breaking the silence.

" Now tell me! Where are you from? Remember, I don't want any lies." His speech was firm, not leaving any space for me to think twice.

"California, Diamond Bar..."

He smiled in a weird way before he stood up. He was leaving; I guess. And as I thought I was finally free, he decided on dragging me out with him.

" I don't think you have the right to..." Before I was able to get my sentence done he let go of my hands, then stepped a step toward me while I was trying to step back away from him. While struggling to stay away, I lost control over myself, and instead of stealing back, I was about to fall down. Again, I was saved by Daniel.

He then got to my ears while whispering,

" I have all the rights I need, cupcake! Unless you want to spend the rest of the day with her, I suggest you follow me." He said while pointing at Lucia, and for a while - following him seemed to be a quietly good idea.

It might seem a bit stupid to follow a stranger... Believe me, after what happened here this morning. It's way safer for me to follow Daniel than to keep up with Lucia.
