Joseph's POV:

I gripped the steering wheel as I drove towards the estate where my family's mansion was located. It was far from where I resided, as my current place of residence was very busy, while the estate where my father's mansion was situated was much calmer.

Upon arriving at the estate gate, the security men pulled open the large black gate, allowing me entry to park my car. I quickly got out of the vehicle, noting that the sun was still high, though it seemed like the sky was about to open up for heavy rain later.

I walked up to the front door and rang the doorbell to announce my presence. A maid opened the door, and I entered the living room of the mansion.

"Good evening, Mom," I greeted, as I saw my mother seated on the couch with my younger brother, Aaron.

"Welcome, Joseph. What is happening? What did you do to Nina, and who is the new lady that has a child for you?" My mother immediately bombarded me with a series of questions as soon as I walked in.

"Mom, I don't have any

Joseph's POV:I stood speechless, still looking at the image that graced Danna's phone."Have you seen where your Casanova lifestyle has landed you? You got the child's mother pregnant, and you expected her to kill this innocent child, just because you don't know the value of human life!" Mom taunted me with mean words, but I remained quiet."Mom, I wasn't to be blamed here. I wasn't ready for marriage then, and I explained it to Amaka.""Just stop talking, Joseph, and give me the young woman's number. You are not my son, and I don't want to see your face anymore if you don't go and apologize to that lady and bring my grandchild home.""Mom!" I looked at her in disbelief, knowing that my mother doesn't just say what she wouldn't do."You heard me correctly, Joseph. I didn't send you to impregnate the boy's mother, but he's your son, and you cannot deny it. I'm still ashamed that you wanted to kill this innocent child. Where are your manners, Joseph, and what did you gain from sleeping

Amaka's POV,I couldn't believe that I had just spoken with Joseph.Earlier, I woke up and remembered that it was my son's birthday. I hadn't even made many preparations for him.Jason was four years old today, and many thoughts came to my mind, especially considering all I had been through to have him. When I awoke in bed, Jason was still sleeping, so I picked up my phone and checked the time.I saw it was after 4 p.m., and I was famished. I knew that if Jason woke up, he would be hungry too.Since today was his birthday, I had planned to arrange a birthday photoshoot for him, but because of my new job and the agreement I had signed to take my work seriously, I ended up not preparing anything for him. So, I got out of bed and went to the kitchen to prepare my son's birthday cake and our dinner.I thought about giving Simon a call since I had gotten pretty close to him.Due to the agreement I had signed with J.E Group, I couldn't just quit my job unless I paid 10 million. It was a cra

Amaka's POV:Maureen arrived dressed in a blue top and black straight skirt, paired with black shoes."Happy birthday, honey!" she told Jason as she brought many gifts for him and gave him the white plastic bag."Thanks, Aunt!" Jason hugged Maureen happily, and I stood there capturing more photos of them since Maureen hugged him too."He's so adorable, Amaka," Maureen told me with a smile, and I replied in a lovely tone, "Yes. Thanks, dear."I walked to meet Maureen and hugged her, as I missed her. "We miss you, girlfriend," I said soothingly into her ear, since we were the same height."Me too, thanks," Maureen replied just as she pulled away from the hug."Come, let us cut Jason's cake and make a wish. Or should we wait for your mother to arrive?" I asked Maureen gently. Just then, another knock resonated in the living room.Maureen offered to check who was at the door as Jason and I were at the dining table where his cake was.As Maureen pulled the door open, Mrs. Ann entered the l

Amaka's POV;Still in the living room of Aunt Ann's house, my phone rang, and I wondered who was calling me again.Seeing the unknown number, I pondered whether it was Joseph or my family calling me, so I hesitated to pick up the call."Come, Jason. Let's go into the room and sleep. It's getting late," I told my son as I moved over to the couch to join him, just after I rejected the incoming call."Why, Mom?" Jason frowned, his handsome fair face contorting into a deep scowl. He loved cartoons and was perfectly perched on the living room's black couch, not wanting to get down.He simply had no plans of going to bed early tonight."Do you want to stay here in the living room alone? I am tired, and I need to rest. Also, you have to go to school tomorrow, at least before we take a break and make preparations for Maureen's wedding," I told Jason as I approached him on the couch and sat beside him."Come now, let's go and sleep," I said, standing up and wanting to take the television remot

Nina's POV:I arrived home the previous day and told my mother all that had happened. I hadn't even gotten the chance to go to Joseph's house to pick up my car and my box of clothes.I just went home straight, and my family wasn't happy about the news, especially after I told them that Joseph had another woman he was interested in and probably had a child."So, what do you want to do about it, Nina?" Mom asked, and I was speechless."I don't know, Mom. I cannot marry Joseph again, and I will move on," I said. My mother comforted me to stop crying, and after a while, I went back to my room to think about the whole thing.Do I like Joseph? Yes, I do. But I don't like the fact that he lies to me.I later had dinner with my family. Throughout the previous day, I waited to see if Joseph would call me, but no call came through. I eventually went to bed.Today, I awoke and decided to go to Joseph's house to pick up my car and box of clothes. We weren't going to marry, and I would certainly g

Nina's POV:The cab arrived at Joseph's house, and I carefully alighted, paid for my ride, and made my way to Joseph's house. It was a peaceful estate. I looked at my golden wristwatch and saw that it was almost 8 AM. I assumed maybe Joseph had gone to his office, so I marched over to his gate and knocked.A security man unlocked the gate and came out of the house to meet me."Good morning, Madam. Who are you looking for?" he asked, and I met his gaze."Musa, did you all of a sudden forget who I am? Open the gate now. Has Joseph left the house?""Oh, Madam. I am sorry I didn't recognize you. Come in," Musa said, and he unlocked the gate for me to enter. As I entered Joseph's residence, my eyes traveled to the driveway where my car and about three of his cars were parked.I assumed Joseph was still inside, and Musa confirmed to me that Joseph had not left the house yet."The boss is inside," he told me with a smile. I smiled and replied, "Alright, I will soon be leaving as I came to pi

He wore a black suit and a white shirt underneath, paired with a black pair of shoes. His fair skin glistened as he flashed me his perfect set of white teeth, not knowing the turmoil I was going through."Morning. Wait, Simon," I called him back as I walked up to meet him."Is there anything you want me to assist you with, sir?" he asked, and I looked at his car again, hoping to see Amaka get out of the car, but I didn't see her.Unable to hold my curiosity, I asked him, "What about Amaka? I thought she came to the company every day with you since she started this week with us?"Simon's eyes widened in surprise as he hadn't expected me to ask him about Amaka."Yes, sir. She actual

Amaka's point of view;I arrived at my son's school and took him to his class. As we entered the school building, the headmistress, a middle-aged woman, greeted me with a warm smile on her face, "Welcome, Ma'am. You came today with your boy other than his grandmother?" She asked me."Yes. I am not going to work today, so I brought Jason by myself. Please, ma'am, I don't want anyone to come here and take my son away. That's why I came here by myself. No one except me or his grandmother should pick him up."The headmistress looked at me in surprise as she wore a black suit and shoes. "You have nothing to worry about, ma'am. Your child is in safe hands," she assured me and gestured for Jason to go on to the assembly."I have to go now, bye, Jason," I waved at my son, and he smiled and waved back at me.I saw some teachers looking at us with a smile. Taking a quick glance at them, I didn't see Joseph's sister among them, so I was a little relieved, even though I knew that she had guessed

"Welcome, sir.""Thank you," I replied as I glanced at her face. Amaka's POV "Mom, is tomorrow really my Dad's birthday?" My son asked me as I set up his dinner at the dining table. What kind of brain does Jason have? He pays attention to even the things that I do not expect him to care about. Also, he asked me reasonable questions since he learned to talk. And additionally, he became more of a talkative since he met his Dad. "Jason, I do not know. Your father was here. Why didn't you ask him or stay with him?" I looked away from my son's face as I served him his jollof rice to eat. "But Mom, Dad has been nice to us. Why do you not want to talk to him and be his friend? Dad said that he is sorry, and he will not hurt you again," Jason said as he looked at me thoughtfully. "Do you believe your Daddy?" I asked my son before we resumed eating. "Yes. I believe Daddy," Jason replied, and I sighed. "It's okay to believe your dad, but I do not want to be his friend or believe him again. He lied to me, and I haven't forgotten what he did. So I will

Jospeh's POV"You should try to apologize to her. I believe she will forgive you," Lady Tope said, and I nodded my head. "It's fine." I stood up and went to the top floor to check on my son, and he was sleeping peacefully on the bed due to the cold. I looked at his cute face, as the room bulb was on. The night had fallen gradually, and I sighed and picked up my phone to create a fake account and to send an apology message to Amaka. She had to hear me out. However, as I thought about sending her a message, I thought about the possibility that she might not see it. So I kept my phone back on the shelf and went to study. A few minutes later, I came out of the study as it was past 9 pm. Jason awoke on the bed and looked at me. "Daddy, how about my Mom?" He asked me first, getting out of the bed, and I told him, "She is not here. Do you want to go and see her?""Yeah," Jason nodded, and I sighed. "Fine. Come with me."Jason requested to use the bathroom, and I waited for him to exit.

Joseph's POVI came out of my house not expecting to see Amaka here, yelling for me to bring our son out. I knew that I had not signed the child's custody agreement with her. "Hey, big brother. My friend and I came back because she has something to discuss with you," Danna said as she quickly moved away from her white car with her best friend. "Danna, I did not invite you here, and you can tell me whatever your friend has to say to me over a phone call," I told my younger sister as I was pissed off seeing her. I knew that she doesn't like Amaka again, and maybe because she wants to introduce her friend to me, but I do not want her. "I know, Mr. Joseph. Only that your son hasn't caught up with his studies. So Danna and I suggested that I can be his extra school teacher," Clara immediately chipped in, and I looked at her face in shock. "My son's school teacher? Well, I am aware that he is going to school, but he was sick, so you do not have to worry about coming to teach him," I sa

Can I have your contact?" Declan asked me quickly, as he put his phone into my hands.I opened my mouth to speak and to tell him that I wasn't interested in being his friend. But seeing Janet's smiling face as she wanted me to be friends with her brother, I sighed and replied, "Alright. I'll input my number."Declan smiled and took his phone back, saying, "Thank you, Amaka. I will give you a call later."Glancing at Janet, he said, "I have to go now, sister, and take care of yourself.""Okay, brother," Janet replied with a warm smile as her brother walked away.He ran up to catch up with a black car waiting for him, and Janet giggled. "I can't believe that you thought of my elder brother as my boyfriend. Didn't we look alike?"I sighed and told her, "I'm sorry. I actually mistook him as your boyfri

Amaka's POV: "Amaka, I am not asking you to forgive Joseph. But you know that he is my best friend, and I know Joseph well. These days, I think he is more affected by seeing you again, and you should give him a chance at least, a second chance to prove his worth again." Ethan kept his face focused on the road as he drove his black SUV away. I sighed, still not responding to his advice. "It's well," Ethan muttered as he drove back to the island where my rented apartment was. "Are you bothered that Joseph would want to fight with you if he is so serious about his new-found feeling for me?" I queried Ethan, and he laughed aloud. "He is already fighting me, and he hadn't hung out with me since you showed up in our lives. Honestly, I sometimes wished that I had met you before Joseph did. He doesn't deserve you, at least. Let me be honest. You are too decent for a bad boy like him. So, I cannot blame you for the decision that your heart desires." "Mmm," I was silent as I knew that

Amaka's POV:I stood up from the couch and went to give Joseph's mother my bank account details, and they made the transfer into my account. Once I had confirmed the money, I thanked the Ericsons once more, even when it wasn't what I wanted.Joseph was smiling as if he had won my heart, but I had my reservations as I saw his two aunties looked happy."I have received the money, sir," I let Joseph's father know, and he nodded."That's fine. I want you to use that as compensation for what our son did to you. And we hope that you can always come to visit us whenever we have any family activities," Mr. Ericson said, and I nodded sadly."I will. I have to get going home now." I wanted to leave, and Joseph's mother said, "Why don't you join us for lunch before leaving?""No, Ma'am. I am not hungry. I have a running stomach, so I am always mindful of what I eat outside," I told Mrs. Hannah politely, and she smiled sadly, as she wanted to make amends for the past."It's alright. Since you do

I won't be able to go with you again. As I already cancelled the trip. Can I make a refund to you?""It's alright, Madam. You don't have to worry about the payment," the Uber driver said. I marched to get into the back seat of Joseph's car.I saw Joseph smiling, but I rolled my eyes and looked away."Mommy," Jason smiled at me from the front passenger seat, as he was happy to be sitting in the front seat beside Joseph. The car was filled with Joseph's cologne, and I sat in a tight corner, trying to do some breathing exercises to distract my nose from his intoxicating scent."Can you unlock the car windows?" I asked Joseph, after seeing that the car was an automatic."Anything for you," Joseph replied with a calm voice, but I didn't bother to correct him, since he had unlocked the car windows.

Amaka's POV:As I woke up in my room, I sighed and got out of my bed as I made preparations for my son and me to visit Joseph's mother. If it wasn't that I had made the promise that I would visit them, I would have canceled it because Jason was not feeling well.I went to have my bath in the bathroom, and as I got out, I donned a blue top and black trousers, and also a black pair of shoes. Then I moved over to the mirror to do my makeup.I saw that I had a little acne due to the stress that comes with working. I didn't apply makeup, so I made use of my tinted lip gloss and went to my son's room to check on him.Jason was still asleep on the bed, and I recalled how I had gone to Joseph's house to bring him back.Sighing, I gently went to wake my son and to assist him with his bath. His body temperature was back to normal, and he had eaten well the night before.Helping Jason to undress, I prepared a warm bath for him and took him into the bathroom to wash up.A few minutes later, Jason
