Nina's POV "Hello, Mom," I say, walking up to the dining table to sit on one of the white chairs there. "Nina, how are you doing tonight? Has Joseph returned home from the office?" Mom asks, and I sigh heavily. "Yes, Mom. He is back, and we are preparing to have dinner now," I reply. She asks me, "How did he react upon seeing you?" I take a deep breath as I do not want to reveal to my mother that Joseph Ericson does not look happy on seeing me. Instead, I lie to her. "He was surprised, Mom, but at the same time happy." As I say that, Tope steps out of the kitchen and looks at me in shock. She witnesses Joseph's reaction and knows that I lie to my mother, but she does not say a word.
