로그인••Amaka's POV••
After I finish having my breakfast in the kitchen, I step out of the house and make my way outside the compound. The house is a rented apartment, and Mrs. Ann does not own it. Luckily, as I get outside and onto the busy road, I see a bus and get in. I sit beside a man who wears a black suit, and he smiles at me. I am too preoccupied to smile back. After what Joseph does to me, I limit smiling at any man. It is very painful that Joseph breaks up with me. He should have told me that he wants only sex and not marriage. I am a very decent girl in my area, which is the reason why I become a laughingstock among my peers who do not expect a good girl like me to get pregnant. I wipe my sobs away and keep my gaze focused on the road. The man who sits beside me speaks. "Hi, dear. I have paid your fare." "Huh!" I look taken aback that a total stranger helps me clear my bill. As I look at this man's face, I gulp. He is very fair like me; he has short brown hair like my son. Although he is not Joseph Ericson, he is handsome and masculine. "Thank you, but you should not have done that. I do not need any favors from you," I say as the bus continues to drive toward our destination. "I understand, but I cannot help appreciating your beauty. Do you live around here, or where are you heading now?" he asks, and I grimace. Gross! I hate it whenever a guy pries into my affairs. "I am sorry, Mr., but I cannot tell you anything about myself. These days, people easily get kidnapped, and trusting a stranger is risky," I say, my voice lowered so as not to embarrass him—we have other passengers seated behind us. "Fine. I will keep that in mind," he says while I look away. "Industrial estate. Anyone getting down?" the driver of the yellow bus asks, and I respond, "Yes, sir." I drop down from the bus, and the man in the suit comes down too. My brows furrow, wondering if he does not have a job at this early hour of the day. I want to pay the bus conductor, but he tells me, "Your husband has paid." "Hmm, he is not my husband," I warn the conductor, who gasps. "Oh! Sorry, madam. But you two resemble each other." "Whatever!" I turn and quickly make my way to the company I am heading to: J.E. Global. I do not speak to the man who walks along with me. I believe that by the time I get into the company, he will find his way. However, as I get to the gate, the man checks in with his ID, and the security man lets him in. I am surprised that the man already works there, but I am not allowed inside. "What do you want, madam?" the security man asks, and I reply, "I am here for my interview." I show him the email on my phone, and he finally allows me into the company. I have to wait for my interview with the boss, as the company is very strict like Maureen tells me. I do not research this company, believing I will secure the job. I sit waiting for the boss to arrive, and it is already 9 a.m. before the boss arrives. I do not raise my head to look at the boss who walks into the company. I hear whispering from the other new members who come for their interview. I think we are up to ten candidates for this mouthwatering job interview. Soon, the lady in charge of ushering us comes with her folder to introduce herself, as she previously tells us to sit waiting. "Hello, everyone. Welcome to J.E. Global Enterprises. We do not entertain cheating or breach of contract. We expect our staff to keep our company name high to motivate other brands out there to partner with us and our goods and services. So we will proceed with a quick introduction. I am Anita Edward, your new coach. I will give out this consent form to each and every one of you. Once you sign it, it shows that you agree with our company's agreement. Then I will assign you to your partner, who will mentor you on how our system operates. But before that, you will have to go in one by one for your interview with our boss. Once he approves of you and why you are here to work with us, then you can sign this form. Agreed?" She asks, and I swallow hard. I sit in the lobby on the long guest chair, waiting. I can see their clients coming in and going out of the building. I am nervous, wondering who that man I see earlier is. There is no way the boss of J.E. Global enters a bus like I do. Although I have the money to afford a small car, I do not want to show off. I earn more money than Maureen, who teaches me how to blog. So if I purchase a car now, it will seem like I am trying to compete with her. I do not know if that is how Maureen feels, but that is how I think she might feel, so I limit doing anything to piss her off. Though, Maureen does not get pissed off, but I do not want to show off. "Amaka Richard. It is your time now to go in for your interview," Anita says. "Oh!" I quickly snap out of my trance, rise from the guest chair, and adjust my red top and black skirt properly. "Ma, can I go in there with my handbag?" I ask, not knowing if I can carry it in. "Of course. Come with me," she ushers me to follow her, and she shows me a safe where I can keep my bag and hold the key until I return to take it. "Thank you, ma," I tell her, and she smiles. "Hurry up and do not keep our boss waiting," she says. "Okay," I gulp and walk to the boss's office. I take a deep breath and enter the expansive office on the fifth floor. My eyes land on the man in the black suit seated behind the desk. "What?!!" I gasp, shocked to see Joseph Ericson as the boss of this new company. Why do I not research about him? How do I forget to check about the new company I am coming to work for? I try to look away from him and leave his office. He appears indifferent, like he does not know me. "Are you Amaka Richard?" he asks, pretending not to know me. Do I change that much? How can he not recognize me just after four years since our relationship? My lips tremble as I try to respond to him. "Jo...seph. You own this company?" I ask him, tears welling up in my eyes. "Excuse me, have we met before?" he asks me. I shake my head. Since he pretends not to know me, then I will pretend that I do not know him too. We date for a year before he runs away. How can he not recognize me?**AMAKA'S POV**I watched as my parents welcomed Joseph, and he spoke to my father that he wanted to marry me and he didn't want the marriage to be delayed before I would change my mind.I laughed and agreed to marry him, and my father said that he would let my uncles know and the rest of our kinsmen.Afterwards, we presented the gifts that Joseph had bought for my parents, as he bought many provisions and bags of rice on our way to my village. My parents prayed for him and blessed him. We were given a room to stay in, which was my old village room, but Joseph opted to lodge in a hotel, which I declined and told him that he had to respect my parents' offer. So Joseph and I stayed in the room together with my son, as my mother paid some young village women to clean up the room.We ate village food with my family and passed the night there.Joseph and I set to leave for the city, and my father said that he would send the marriage rites list to Joseph to get prepared. After our return to
**Joseph's POV**I hadn't thought that Amaka would accept my engagement proposal, as I was scared that she would reject me. But she happily accepted my ring.I felt so delighted, and words cannot explain how thrilled I am to become her fiancé. Even when I verbally proposed to Nina and she accepted, it wasn't from my heart, and I wasn't comfortable with Nina. I felt like she was not the woman for me, but Amaka makes me feel complete, and my happiness knew no bounds. As I arrived at my house with her, I parked my car, and I could see her radiant face. I cannot wait to officially marry her and kiss her and seal our marriage with wonderful sex. I had it all planned out to take her for a vacation to spend our honeymoon, and I decided that my son would spend time with my parents for his Christmas holidays. As we got out of the car, I told her, "Let me help you carry the bag."My finger brushed past Amaka's hand as I stopped her from carrying her bag out of my car's open boot, just as I unlo
**Amaka's POV**As I got to my house, where I live in a rented apartment, thoughts of my closeness with Joseph came flashing into my mind, and I thought it wasn't a bad idea to give him a second chance. However, as I got into the gate, Janet Moore was standing at the front of her apartment, and she welcomed me."Welcome, Amaka.""Good evening, Janet," I greeted her, and she asked me, "Where is Jason?""Oh, he is with his father," I replied and saw her frown."So it's true that you went to your son's father's house. My brother called me and complained that you kept him waiting at the restaurant instead of telling him that you were not interested," Janet said, sounding hurt, and I apologized to her."I am sorry. I never wanted to befriend your brother. I only wanted to explain to him that I do not want any romantic relationship," I said, and Janet nodded."It's fine. I warned him initially that you don't like men, but he refused to believe me. It's okay. Welcome home," Janet said, and I
**Joseph's POV**I was so happy after Amaka accepted my proposal. I was still overjoyed, as I hadn't thought that she would finally forgive me. I wanted to make it up to her, since I had already made that promise to her in the past that I would marry her. I owe Amaka a lovely marriage, and I planned on making the arrangements.I didn't want to inform my family about it yet. As I got into my room, my younger sister phoned me; the sound of my phone ringing caught my attention."Hello, Danna," I answered her call before she would wake my son."Joseph, good evening. I heard from Clara that Amaka was in your house today with Jason. Why are you still welcoming Amaka when you know that she doesn't love you or want to forgive you?" Danna asked, and I sighed."Danna, I have told you not to meddle in my affairs, and what gave your best friend the right to come to my house? Couldn't you send the invitation to me or send a dispatch rider to deliver it? I do not want to see your friend anywhere cl
AMAKA'S POV."Don't worry. Time will tell," Joseph said with a proud grin on his face and I rolled my eyes.I followed him downstairs and he insisted that I must eat before I leave his house."Fine, go and bring the food," I told Joseph as I accompanied him into the kitchen.I watched him serve the food from the pot and he tested it and showed me that it wasn't poisoned.I rolled my eyes as Joseph used my spoon and he put the spoon back in my plate."Why will I make use of the spoon that you have already used?" I asked him and he grinned."We have kissed before in the past. You sucked my dick and I licked yours. And you have my child, so what's the difference of using the same spoon," Joseph teased me, and my cheeks flushed."You are a pervert! And keep your distance from me!" I warned him and instead of backing away, he came close to me with the tray of food in his hands."I only wish for you to give me a second chance. I am still in love with you and I mean it," Joseph muttered and
Amaka's POV.As I rose from the couch, I moved over to the door to find out and I was surprised to see Clara Martin. My son's school teacher. She wore a red seductive dress that had her boobs exposed."Hi, Amaka," she grinned, waving at me at the door and I scowled instead of replying to her greeting or ushering her inside."Why are you here?" I asked her coldly as I stood by the door."Excuse me, isn't this Joseph's house?" Clara asked, her expression shifting to something cold and unfriendly. I didn't like that she was my son's school teacher. But she was Danna's best friend."So what if this is Joseph's house. It's my son's house too and you have no right to be here," I told her and she smirked."You are not married to Joseph and he is single. So why can't I be here?" She asked, her expression firm. And I smirked."Leave. You are not welcome and Joseph isn't around," I told her coldly, not inviting her inside."You cannot send me away." Clara tried to speak, but I shut the door on
