تسجيل الدخولThe morning sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the Blackwell mansion's dining room.
Normally, seven o'clock in the morning was when Sienna would be busy in the kitchen, making sure Damian's favorite black coffee was brewed at the perfect temperature and his tie had already been laid out on the chair near the door.
But this morning, the dining room was silent.
Damian came downstairs with his usual steady stride. The cuffs of his dress shirt were already fastened, yet something felt off around his neck.
His tie was missing.
His eyes immediately fell on the dining table.
There was only a plate of toast and a steaming cup of coffee, but the room felt empty. Sienna was nowhere to be seen, and no gentle smile greeted him as usual.
Damian pulled out a chair roughly, the scraping sound breaking the silence.
He turned to the head housekeeper, who was arranging the pantry counter.
"Where's Sienna?" Damian asked, his voice cold and firm.
The head housekeeper bowed nervously.
"Young Madam had breakfast earlier in her room, sir. She asked me to take care of all your personal needs starting this morning."
Damian narrowed his eyes, a deeper frown forming on his forehead.
"In her room?"
Since the beginning of their contract marriage, at Damian's request for the sake of convenience and privacy, they had slept in separate bedrooms.
Even so, Sienna had never missed breakfast in the dining room.
She had always carried out her role as a devoted wife in this house with unwavering diligence, almost like a machine faithfully following its programmed routine.
Damian picked up his coffee, took one sip, and immediately set the cup back down with a sharp clink.
It was too sweet.
The head housekeeper had added sugar, the one thing Damian hated most in his morning coffee.
"Throw it away. Make another one," Damian ordered sharply before turning toward the second floor, where Sienna's bedroom was located.
Without knocking, he turned the doorknob and pushed the door wide open.
His steps came to an abrupt stop at the doorway.
Sienna was sitting in front of her vanity.
She was dressed casually in nothing more than a white cotton shirt and a pair of jeans.
Her long hair, usually pinned up neatly, flowed freely over her shoulders in soft waves.
The sight made Damian pause for a brief moment.
Sienna looked...
Different.
Freer.
After a moment of silence, Damian regained his composure, reminding himself why he had come.
"Why didn't you come downstairs?" he asked, his voice echoing through the immaculate room.
"And what's with the coffee downstairs? You know I don't like anyone else handling my personal matters."
Sienna slowly set down her hairbrush.
Turning in her chair, she looked at Damian with clear, composed eyes that held neither fear nor emotion.
"Good morning, Damian," she greeted in a voice that sounded remarkably formal, exactly like one of the secretaries at Blackwell Group.
"Starting today, all household matters and your personal needs have been entrusted to the head housekeeper. I've written down all of your preferences in detail and given the instructions to the staff."
Damian let out a dismissive scoff.
He stepped farther into the room and folded his arms across his chest as he stood beside her.
"Are you sulking because of what happened at last night's party? Because of Mother and Elena? I told you from the beginning to ignore them. Don't be childish, Sienna."
His voice remained flat, devoid of sympathy.
Sienna did not respond with anger.
Instead, she offered him a faint smile, one that felt impossibly distant.
"I'm not sulking, Damian. I'm simply reviewing the terms of our contract," Sienna replied calmly.
She picked up a transparent document folder from the table, stood up, and briefly scanned its contents.
"Article Three, Clause Two states that the Second Party is obligated to accompany the First Party at public events and maintain the First Party's reputation as the head of the family. There isn't a single clause stating that I must serve as your personal maid in this house."
Damian froze.
His jaw tightened.
"Sienna."
"Our contract will expire in three days," Sienna continued, meeting Damian's dark eyes, which were beginning to flash with anger.
"I've fulfilled every one of my responsibilities outside this house. So let's spend these remaining three days professionally. I won't intrude on your space, and I hope you'll respect my boundaries as well."
The atmosphere in the room instantly turned as cold as the polar ice.
Damian felt as though his pride had been slapped across the face.
The woman who had always spoken gently and obediently now stood before him with an invisible wall between them—one that was impossibly high and impossible to cross.
"So now that your mother's house is back in your name, you've finally decided to stand up to me?" Damian asked sarcastically, trying to reassert his authority.
Sienna felt a painful ache tighten in her chest, but she kept her composure.
"Yes. The house is safe now. And in three days, my debt of gratitude to you will be fully repaid. So please return to your room, Mr. Blackwell. I need to get ready."
Damian stiffened the moment he heard the way she addressed him.
His fists clenched at his sides.
His anger surged, not only because of Sienna's words, but because he could no longer find even the slightest trace of weakness in her eyes.
With his fury lodged in his throat, Damian turned around and slammed the bedroom door behind him.
Sienna slowly released the breath she had been holding.
Her hands trembled slightly, but a relieved smile gradually appeared on her lips.
The line had been drawn.
And she would never cross it again.
Damian froze where he stood. His gaze slowly traveled over Sienna from head to toe.Her long hair was neatly tied back. Her face was adorned with light makeup that highlighted her natural beauty, and she stood confidently with perfect posture."Mr. Damian?"His secretary called out awkwardly after noticing that his boss had suddenly stopped walking.Damian ignored him.Without caring about the puzzled looks from the dozen executives following behind him, he turned around and strode directly toward the booth where Sienna was standing.Sienna remained where she was. When Damian stopped in front of the counter, she quietly clasped her hands in front of her skirt before raising her head and offering him her most professional smile."Good afternoon, Mr. Blackwell. Is there anything I can help you with today? Perhaps skincare products for yourself or a gift for a colleague?" Sienna greeted him politely, using the same professional tone she would use with any customer.Damian's chest tighten
Sienna leaned back against the sofa, looking at Naomi with calm confidence in her eyes."We never needed someone who uses their help as a way to control us, Naomi," Sienna said firmly, yet reassuringly.Naomi froze. "What do you mean?""I've already set aside enough personal savings from my mother's inheritance to cover the foundation's operating expenses for the next two months," Sienna explained calmly. "And starting next week, I'm going back to work. I've already submitted applications for several job openings."Naomi's eyes widened. "You're going back to work? You haven't worked outside the house for an entire year. Can you really do it?""Yes, I can," Sienna answered confidently, her smile filled with determination. "I have a degree in Business Management that has been left unused for far too long. Now it's time to use it for myself and for our foundation. We can stand on our own, Naomi. Without the Blackwell family's support, and without relying on anyone else."Naomi stared at
Night slowly settled over the quiet suburban neighborhood.Sienna sat on the edge of the wooden bed in her bedroom, gently rubbing her sore neck after spending the entire day cleaning the house. She had changed out of her casual clothes into a loose T-shirt and a pair of comfortable cotton pants. The sound of her growling stomach broke the silence of the room.Sienna smiled faintly and reached into her pocket to take out her new phone."I'll just order some food online tonight," Sienna murmured softly. However, her hand suddenly froze. Her thoughts drifted back to the days before—to the evenings when she always prepared dinner for Damian, when she faithfully played the role of an obedient wife without ever complaining.Sienna quickly closed her eyes and shook her head. She didn't want to think about Damian anymore. She was free now, just as they had agreed. She no longer owed Damian anything."Stop thinking about that house, Sienna. It was only a temporary place for you, and now you h
Joanna flinched at Damian's outburst. He had always been a cold man, but he rarely raised his voice like this when Sienna was home."Y-Yes, sir. I'll make it right away," Joanna replied with a trembling voice before hurrying back to the kitchen.Damian let out a frustrated snort. He roughly unbuttoned his suit jacket, and the moment he took it off, he tossed it onto one of the dining chairs. He slowly walked around the living room, his eyes scanning every corner of the house. The towering walls. The paintings worth hundreds of millions. The gleaming marble floors.Everything remained exactly the same.Nothing had changed physically.Yet an unmistakable emptiness lingered in every corner he passed.Damian made his way to the small study overlooking the back garden—the room where Sienna used to spend her time reading books or reviewing project analysis reports. The door was slightly open.Damian pushed it open gently. The room was spotless. The stacks of supporting documents were gone.
The room grew even colder.Hearing Sienna's name mentioned in front of Damian felt like triggering a time bomb that could explode at any moment.Damian fixed Mr. Hendra with a murderous glare.A painful silence lingered for several long seconds before Damian finally straightened his posture and adjusted the buttons of his suit jacket with slightly tense fingers."This company pays billions to employ a team of professionals," Damian said in a low, emphatic voice, "not to depend on a woman who isn't even part of the company's organizational structure."No one knew about their contract marriage, and because of that, no one could ever learn that Damian and Sienna's marriage contract had already ended.Damian rose abruptly from his chair and roughly grabbed his phone."This meeting is over," he said without looking back. "I don't want to hear any of you relying on Sienna. If this report isn't flawless by tomorrow morning, you and the entire analysis team are welcome to submit your resignat
Sienna arrived at the house her mother had left behind. Her eyes filled with emotion. After enduring a suffocating one-year contract marriage, Sienna was finally free. She walked toward the front door of the old house and unlocked it with the key in her hand. The scent of dust and aged wood greeted her as the wooden door slowly swung open.Sienna stepped inside, placing her old suitcase and small cardboard box on the thick layer of dust covering the living room floor. She stood silently in the middle of the room, taking in her surroundings.A thin layer of dust covered the furniture that had been hidden beneath white sheets for years.Sienna took a deep breath, absorbing the damp scent of the air that felt so honest and familiar."I'm home, Mom," Sienna whispered, her voice hoarse.A bittersweet smile spread across her face. From this moment on, she would live here alone.Without pressure.Without chains binding her to a life of pretense.Sienna rolled up the sleeves of her white shir
