Chapter 3

It was the weekend as usual Rosy was writing a list of the things the servant needed to get for grocery shopping.

“Maam the peanut butter has just a little quantity left in the container,” the servant brought to her notice.

“Alright then, I will add that to the list, what about my special ingredients, will they be enough to last me till the next grocery shopping?”

“Maam, emm the new madam threw them away,” the servant told Rosy shaking.

“She did what? But why?” Rosy stopped what she was doing, giving her full attention to the maid to hear what she had to say.

“She said the smell makes her stomach upset and that it looks poisonous,” the maid added.

“Wow, did you tell her it belongs to me?” she pointed at herself emphasizing the ‘me’.

“Yes, ma'am I did but she became aggressive so I have to obey her.”

“Don't worry, I will write it in the list, when the groceries get delivered make sure to keep it in a tightly closed container so she won't smell it and throw up.” she continued checking the store room to see if she had written everything.

“I will do just that, ma'am.”

“Go with the driver so you can come back early, be careful while shopping so you don't hurt yourself, and don't forget to ask for help when you need one,” she reminded her.

“I will ma'am.” she was leaving the kitchen when she ran into someone.

“Who permitted you to go grocery shopping?” Cassandra questioned the maid who was so scared.

“Cassandra,” Rosy called out to her in a harsh tone.

“I was not talking to you, barren,” she shut Rosy up and then faced the servant.

“Mrs Madavaski did,” Kate answered in between gasping for breath and actually breathing.

Rosy went mute, and immediately hot tears began to drop from her eyes, Cassandra just called her barren, she was lost in her thoughts not minding what was going on around her until Cassandra said something that jolted her back.

“I am the new Mrs. Madavaski, I am carrying the heir of the Madavaski Empire, so you do as I say not as she says.”

“I am sorry to disrespect you ma'am but I haven't gotten that order from Mr. Madavaski yet so I will only accord to you the respect given to every visitor that comes into this house.”

Kate told her with so much boldness that one would begin to wonder if it wasn't the same Kate who almost peeked on her panties moments ago.

“I can see you are no longer interested in your job, I will help you out.”

“Maam you have issues with the Madavaskis’ and not we the house help, we are only here to serve the family, allow me to do my job while you settle your issues with them.”

Kate walked away almost immediately leaving the bewildered Cassandra and Rosy.

Kate is among the oldest servants in the Madavaski’s Empire and Rosy’s favorite. Rosy loved her because she was smart, free-spirited, and bold when it came to expressing herself.

Cassandra walked away immediately feeling so ashamed, she didn't expect a common servant to insult her and walk out on her too.

Rosy smiled widely saying to herself “That's my girl,” but when she remembered Cassandra’s words, she became sad again.

After that incident, Rosy was indoors all day, she lost her appetite, she was very moody, even when Kate came to tell her that she was back she still didn't leave her room.

When it was evening, she decided to go get some alcoholic wine to get drunk and forget about whatever happened.

When she got to the bar in the living room, a sweet aroma passed her nose, and that made her hungry. She went into the kitchen to see who was making such a delicious meal.

“You are finally out ma'am, I was making fish soup, especially for you,” Kate informed her.

“I am not hungry, you can have it and share it with the others when you are done,” she knew she was lying to Kate because the aroma was what drew her to the kitchen.

“I will keep some for you, you can get them when you are hungry.”

“Okay, thank you.”

She went back to the bar to pick a wine and a glass cup, retreating to her room.

After about an hour, she couldn't bear the audible sound coming from her stomach which was a sign of hunger, “Ahh, Kate told me she kept some fish soup for me, let me go get it after which I will take this wine and enjoy a long peaceful sleep.”

She collected the fish soup, microwaved it and while she was returning to her room, she heard Cassandra talking to someone on the phone.

“You don't have to worry about that, our plans are going well and smoothly.”

The person at the other end said something and she laughed lightly.

“They are both dumb, especially the wife. I thought you were scared they would find out about me so soon.”

The receiver said something again and she responded.

“Yes, that's my next plan, when will you give me what I asked for?”

“I will be waiting,” she replied sweetly to whatever the person said, “I will fix a day to come see you, it's been a while since we spent time together.”

“The baby is fine.”

“Sure I will,” she replied again after a brief silence, “Take care, I love you.”

Rosy quickly ran into her room to avoid being caught by her eavesdropping on her phone conversation.

“Does it mean she was sent by someone and that Kendrick is not the actual father of the child? I guess it is time.”

She picked up her phone and dialed a number, the receiver answered at the first ring.

“At your service, Boss,” the receiver said into the phone.

She was on a call with a guy called Oswald. She met Oswald about two months ago when she was attacked by some thugs on her way home from the hospital.

She went there to see her brother Ronald Brown who had been in a coma after he got into an accident.

“Look who we have here, Rosy Madavaski,” a voice called out to her from the dark.

She couldn't get a ride home, she tried calling the family driver but he wasn't taking his calls. She concluded that she was going to walk down to the bus stop, maybe she could get a bus there.

Before she could turn to the corner where she heard the voice, she was surrounded by eight hefty men. She knew it was over for her because there was no way she was going to defeat them.

The one who seemed to be the leader ordered one of them to grab her and out of nowhere a boy pushed the guy who was dragging her and he smashed his head on the wall and passed out.

Within five minutes, the other seven men were down including the leader. When they were at a safe place, she asked him who he was and why he had helped her.

“I am Oswald, Sir Ronald once saved my life when some men wanted to render my family and me homeless, he paid our rent and sent me to school also,” Oswald told her.

“Ronald did that?” She wanted to be sure of what she heard since her brother never made mention of that to her and besides no one knew about her brother or her background, not even Kendrick.

“Yes ma'am and I am indebted to him. I came back to find out that he has been in a coma.” He explained sadly.

“How did you know about me then?”

“Sir Ronald always told me about you, he has always wanted you to be safe. When I came back to find him in a coma, I knew you would be in danger and so I came to serve you,” he bent his head in respect to Rosy.

Rosy was confused and happy at the same time, it seemed Ronald knew about the whole thing all along and had made plans to keep her safe. She liked the idea already.

“Can I trust you?”

“I am indebted to your brother, this is the only way I can pay him back as he has always told me to make sure you are safe no matter what happens.”

Oswald followed her to the front of the Madavaski’s giant gate, “Don’t hesitate to call me when you need anything, I am always at your service,” he gave her a paper where he had written his contact.

Now is the best time to make use of him, Oswald.
