Chapter 25

She swore she would throw back that word in the face of those people one day.

Jean wiped her face, spun around, and left.

She did not dare to take the elevator. So she walked down thirteen floors to the parking lot on the minus second floor.

A black car quickly pulled up beside her.

“Get in.”

“Bobby? Why did you come in person? Aren’t you afraid of being implicated?” Jean asked.

He was wearing a mask and a hat, leaving his pair of warm eyes exposed. “I don’t believe that a little girl who would rather drink until she got gastrorrhagia and dare to assault the producer would sell her body for fame.”

“Thank you.” Jean suddenly had a lump in her throat.

“Don’t mention that.” Bobby looked at her with a pampering look in his eyes.

As the car drove out of the apartment and stopped at an empty roadside, the two got out of the car.

“Take the car. The gas tank is full.”

“Thank you.” She did not know what else to say.

Bobby was the only one who would trust and help her unconditionally.

He looked at her reddened eyes and gave her a hug. “If there is anything else I can help, just call me.”

Just then, he saw a car coming from not far away, and a guy was sticking halfway out of the window with a camera in his hands.

“Go now!” He hurried her.

“What about you?”

“I can take care of myself. Go now.”

Jean gritted his teeth and stepped on the accelerator. The car lunged forward.

Wallingden and Cornview were a four-hour drive apart. She drove as fast as she could and arrived at the hospital before dawn.

Her grandma had come out of the emergency room. The doctor told her that her grandma was out of danger.

Jean could not hold back her tears when she saw her gray-haired grandma lying on the hospital bed with tubes all over her body.

“I am sorry, Grandma. I am sorry. I want you to see me having a happy life and getting married. But I screwed everything up. I am sorry.”

Jean was crying like a baby, but her grandmother could not hug her in her arms like she did when she was small.

The next day, news of Jean and a man hugging in public at night went viral on the Internet.

Someone pointed out that the man looked suspiciously like Bobby Hudson, but his fans refused to admit it. They claimed Bobby was shooting out of town and warned Jean to stay away from him.

But it was during this time that Bobby suddenly tweeted, ‘The world will not be dark forever. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Hang on there.’

Many people said that he was refuting rumors for himself.

In Club Elegance, Jason kicked the table in frustration. “Damn it! Even the sky falling down could not stop her from hooking up with men. I wonder why she is so cheap? Can she not live without a man?”

“You haven’t given up, have you?” Someone mocked him.

Jason shot that man a glare, and no one else dared to utter a sound again.

Etan sorted his tie and then picked up a glass of wine. His expression looked so calm that no one could see the irritability inside him.

“It is almost one week,” Etan said.

Jason let out a confident smile. “Don’t worry. I still have time. Her contract is canceled, and creditors are after her. She will not survive for long.”

There was no emotion in Etan’s eyes as if he did not care about the bet he was having with Jason.
